FC 24 TOTS Moments Kobbie Mainoo Player Review - Cop or Flop

I didn’t think I'd be back here so soon. But it’s objective time again! Anything to not have to waste coins through Team of the Season. It’s been a bit of a quiet week during the Bundesliga TOTS promo but we have finally been able to earn enough XP to unlock the most anticipated season reward, TOTS Moments Kobbie Mainoo.

From a 62 rated gold card to 92 rated in the next version available. Quite the jump there! This card has been boosted from 3*/2* to 4*/5* Skills and Weak Foot. a +30 overall boost. 3 playstyle pluses in Finesse, Bruiser and Long Ball Pass. This card looks like it could be a demon in game. Incredibly well rounded and packing a good bunch of playstyles.

You can check out the card here!

Positionally you can choose to play Mainoo in his default position of CDM or you can go CM/CAM. Initially I wanted to play this card at CAM purely on the Finesse Shot+ but after a couple games moved him back to his default position playing more defensive in-game.

In order to have unlocked this card you need to grind up to Level 20 within the Season Pass which accumulates to 20,000XP. As of today that has become possible!

As mentioned I originally started Mainoo in the CAM position but after a couple of games (Spoiler Alert) realised he’ll be better suited closer to the defensive side of the midfield.

Chemstyle is tough as this is based loosely on where you decide to play Kobbie. But if like me you played him as a CDM, either the Anchor or Maestro are probably the best choices for you. I opted to boost pace and defensive stats so I went with the Anchor.

How did he perform in-game?

+ Passing is without doubt the best feature of this card. A mix of Long Ball+ and Pinged Pass playstyles made passing from this card very smooth.

+ Positioning on this card was also impressive. No matter which part of the midfield you decide to play this card in, he will be all over the pitch pressing for attacks and cutting back to recover against the opposition.

+ Finesse Shots are what you would expect with this card. The playstyle+ does a lot of the heavy lifting here as that combined with the high shot power felt like a guaranteed goal.

/ Shooting outside of finesses didn’t feel impressive. It’s not the elite standard you would expect from a TOTS item. This made him unsuitable for the CAM role.

- Dribbling felt a little bit clunky to me and often in tight positions lead to error due to the low composure.

Mainoo - Cop or Flop?

This one is a little bit of a disappointment. When I saw this card at the beginning of the Season, I was really looking forward to using it. Now that I have my hands on this card, it’s a little bit underwhelming. Realistically for me, the only good feature on this card was the fact that it has the Finesse Shot+ and despite that being one of the most overpowered playstyles. That alone isn’t enough to keep this card in my team.

If you’re a Manchester United fan then maybe you use this card, but at this point there are so many options that there really is no room to justify putting this item in your squad. Honestly it felt a little bit like he was a juiced bronze card. In reality that’s exactly what he is, but when you pick up a 92-Rated TOTS item, you expect it to be somewhat elite or at least a level below. For me this card wasn’t it which is fine, as he’s a free item. But I think I'll be putting this one into an SBC!

Verdict = FLOP
