FC 24 Team of The Season Jarrod Bowen Player Review - Cop or Flop

Well it’s certainly been sometime since I got my hands on a player through Objectives to test out. But this man’s on fire so he just had to get copped. Now, am I a nerd for getting this card so soon? Absolutely. In order to unlock this Team of the Season Bowen item, you need to get to Level 15 in this Season which of course equals 15,000 xp. This has been achievable by completing every single objective that EA has laid out in front of us, as well as some extra XP earned via Rivals/Squad Battles/ Champions.

You can check out the card here!

This one’s a strange one for me. He comes at default in the Striker position but on first glance of the playstyles I immediately think this man belongs on the wing, as he possesses Whipped Pass, Technical and Trivela+. All of which to me seems perfect for a wide positioned player.  Fortunately he has the option to play RW as well so I put him back to where he belongs. The trouble here though is that actually he is of course left footed so he was rarely in the right position to be able to utilise the Trivela. So in the later parts of the game I figured maybe try him on the left to abuse that playstyle. So a lot of moving around for this card.

But I haven’t even touched on the upgrades! Bowen has had a Centurions Item and a Pundit Pick item. This TOTS item is a +3 on the Pundit Pick and of course comes with 3 playstyle pluses, as mentioned. Upgrades in general are +2s apart from the physical that has been given a +7. Sadly no boost to the weak foot or skill moves but he still has 4*/4* so no real complaints there.

Whipped pass was the standout to me so I wanted to slot Bowen on the wing providing aerial plays to someone that could master the air, and all of us have this man in our clubs so Drogba was ready to receive those crosses.

For Chemstyle I felt Hunter was the main option to go with in order to bolster up that pace so he can make those quick runs that create the perfect space to whip the ball into the box. Alternatively either the Catalyst or Engine if you play more reserved and want to make quick passing plays.

How did he perform in-game?

+ Pace felt really good for me when it came to sprinting past defenders down the wing. He very often out paced the opposition and left them in his dust.

+ Dribbling was also very good on this card which certainly assisted the pace because he held the ball really well, especially when using Technical+, meant he could move swiftly around players with no trouble.

+ Positioning for both getting into a goal scoring position and getting into a position where he could set up an easy goal was made to look easy with Bowen as he seemed to put an absolute shift in when contributing to goals.

+ Shooting was decent however he was best shooting when in that Striker position or on the left. If you’re using him on the right, don’t expect to be scoring a lot of goals as he was best assisting in this position.

/ Passing felt okay but without the whipped pass playstyle+ I don’t think his passing would be much to brag about.

Bowen - Cop or Flop?

A little strange to consider if an Objective card could be considered a “flop” so in the context of this, we’ll consider flop to mean fodder. This item was certainly fun to use but I felt like I couldn’t settle him into one position. As mentioned earlier I felt like I needed to move his position in order to get different things out of him. On the right for assisting, on the left for scoring. I tried finessing with this card as he does possess the playstyle but it just didn’t seem to hit the same as those elite cards with the Finesse+

For me, if maybe you’re a player that’s recently got back into the game for TOTS then this card is absolutely for you. But if you’ve been grinding enough then you very likely have many cards on par or better with this. So for me, this one will probably end up in an SBC. You can put him into the “TOTS Upgrade Series I” evolution but I don’t think this will make that much of a difference for the card.

Verdict = FLOP
