When the FIFA 18 players cards were released there came alot of hype between players with what looks like good and over powered cards for our teams. I saw the Son card and though it would be just as great as his 2nd Player of the Month card which I used in FIFA 17. Son for me was just an overall great player in the game. Now here comes the review:

Pace:

Son has 86 Pace but feels at least 90 in game. I think this is because of his sprint speed and acceleration stats which are in the high 80s (86, 87). He usually outpaces any player but some high Pace full backs sometimes catch him but he makes up for it with his dribbling which we will get to soon. I have used Hunter on him to make him a bit faster and boost his already stand out shooting. With Hunter he has 97 Pace and 92 Shooting (91 Long Shots). That makes him a bit overpowered in the range department. Through balls are one of the best options to get him into scoring options or just cutting in from the wing with him, but he is also able to go all by himself and run past the defenders.

Shooting:

His shooting stats are obviously better than the ones on other wingers in the Premier League. He is clinical inside the box and finishes literally every chance he gets, whether its low driven or finesse. With Hunter it gives him 93 Finishing and 91 Long Shots which means he scores plenty goals from literally anywhere. He saved my ass in games the opponent was taking his chances and I couldn't score mine, by simply scoring 2 finesse goals out of the box. He cuts into the right spots and has a really impressive finishing ability. His Shooting is impressive which definitely makes him one of the best cards to choose for LW in the Premier League.

Passing:

His passing is still good especially considering that he is a Left Wing. With 78 Vision and 78 Short Passes you can easily play him in CM if you really wanted to. He even makes it to pass nice through balls to the Striker or over the top to the other Winger. I love to play with Wingers that can pass, shoot, dribble and be fast as well as being physical.

Dribbling:

Now we come to his OP stat. His Dribbling is by far super over powered in comparison to other Wingers. The only exception is Cristiano Ronaldo, which is no surprise as he is the highest rated for a reason. 85 Dribbling combined with his 4* skills make him a magician. 79 agility and 77 balance look bad at first but in game you really don't notice this due to his speed and dribbling. He is fast and agile that it is hard for the defender to know what he is going to do next. You can easily react to the defensive tactics of the opponent and change the direction to get past the defenders. Probably Son is one of the best players for 1vs1 situations because you can just get past the player and shoot and literally nearly always goes in.

Defending:

Well, what can I say about defending. The only mentionable aspect would be that he has High/High workrates. Most people consider that to be a bad thing. But in Son's case it really isn't. He puts pressure on the defence the whole game and usually doesn't tired due to his 80 stamina. If you are defending on a high level on the pitch, you can make this an advantage. In terms of heading, the only thing I can say is that in the most cases he will not win the header even though he is tall, he just wont contest for one.

Physicality:

With only 66 Physical you would expect him to be pushed off the ball frequently but this is false. He isn't that weak as you might expect. He is able to hold his ground and is fast enough to escape out of tight areas thanks to his pace. I was really positively surprised how his strength stat did not have such a bad impact on him than I thought. Especially when players like Antonio Valencia couldn't push him the ball. He can run 90 minutes + extra time and will still have 25% stamina. Especially late in the game, this is a game changer. His pace and shooting is dangerous at the beginning of the game and gets even more dangerous at the end, when the most players tend to get more and more tired. But Son won't. He will run after every ball and score late winners or equalisers, which is a big pro in FUT champs. You can rely on him as he will score sooner or later.

I strongly recommend you to buy this card. Not only because of his obvious pace+shooting ability. No, because he is a top-class Winger who has overall very nicely balanced stats. He scores at least 1 goal per game (even in the WL), is a dribbling god, has good passing (can be used in CM), and barely gets tired thanks to his 80 stamina.

Son is the best LW/LF that I've used and I've used a couple. Don't be fooled by his stats, they're better than they look. His pace should be more like 88 and his shooting should be 85. With a 5* weak foot I can do drivens from both sides of the box. His attack positioning is also very good, He's always tat the right place when I make runs from the wing with my OTW Salah. His strength also feels a bit higher definitely not like 62, more like 80. He manages to bully a couple defenders most of the time.

Great player, I used his POTM in fifa 17 and I loved that, the finesse shots he has are insane, just like fifa 17. I'd start him off in a 4-3-2-1 at lf then swap to a 4-1-2-1-2 (2) and play him at striker. He has been my striker for the entirety of this fifa and I haven't been disappointed. His heading is surprisingly impressive as he is only 6foot and has both jumping and heading accuracy of 65, although he has scored a good few headers for me. The only bad thing I have found is his strength and headers from a goal kick, his headers inside the box are good but I think his headers from a goal kick leave a little something to be desired. His 9* overall is amazing, 4* skill moves is perfectly acceptable for a player and 5* weak foot comes in handy a lot and will save you many times. Although he is has 86 pace which is perfectly acceptable, it does mean he gets out paced by the likes of bailly, this combined with his lack of strength means the META CB's deal with him quite easily unless you get past the CB. High/high work rates mean he will be all over the place and although his defending isn't the best he will still be amongst the defensive play and playing out from the back.

Considering sons price he is in my opinion the best cheap OP LW you can find. I picked him up for 20k at the beginning of FIFA and he has been in my club ever since with an exceptional 31 goals in 40 games. I tried martial and Mane in a 433(4) as potentially better left wingers but to be honest, I preffered son.
