FC 24 Team of The Season Alexandre Lacazette Player Review - Cop or Flop

A busy and eventful weekend on FC24 to say the least.. But we move onto brighter futures as we slowly make our way through the Team of the Season promo. A great bunch of new players were added into packs yesterday. Including of course a TOTS Messi item. Content was a little quiet today but in the SBC section however we have a Machete. No not literally, but Lacazette is here in SBC form and this card certainly looks promising!

He certainly isn’t shy when it comes to getting promo cards. We have seen Alexandre Lacazette earn both a Centurions and a Fantasy item so far in the EAFC cycle and wow, what a card this TOTS item looks!

Finally getting himself 3 playstyles to join the meta criteria of cards. Absolutely juiced out pace and shooting. I think it may be early to say but this card may quite possibly be in a lot of people’s squads if not too expensive and he plays how he looks. 

Laca joins the somewhat Arsenal past and present squad along with a few faces from the latest TOTS squads to earn some chemistry. Two rapid players in Diani and Martinelli either side of him put high pressure on the opposition. I feel these are going to do some damage.

Chemstyle of choice for me today was the Hunter to just absolutely max out the Pace and Shooting in the hope that this card would be unstoppable. The 3 playstyle+s on this card aren’t particularly amazing as a combo so I figured best to rely on maxing out those key stats.

5 segments here and scarily we have 2 90 rated segments. Coming in at around 530k i’m not quite feeling that price tag. A lot of better-looking options are tradeable for maybe 10% of that price. So he absolutely has to impress in-game

How did he perform in-game?

+ Pace was just as you would expect, especially when completely maxing it out. He was rapid.

+ Shooting was incredibly clean. He finished everything laid out in front of him and absolutely fed his team the goals.

+ Physicals, specifically his strength was also impressive. He did a real good job at pressing players to retrieve the ball and fending them off to keep it.

/ Dribbling for me wasn’t what I would have hoped for. He did a great job in those high pressure situations and kept his composure, but the agility and balance felt a lot worse than the stats would suggest

/ Positioning was really inconsistent for me and I think this was largely due to his high/high work rates. Quite often he was late to the attack meaning we would need to rely on the wingers to buy him some time.

Lacazette - Cop or Flop?

I must say I am a little disappointed in this card. Despite me struggling to ever be a fan of Lacazette in these games, I really hoped this time would be different. But he just didn’t wow me like many other players do. If you are spending 540k on an SBC at this point in the year it’s got to be on someone that is likely going to end the game in your team or even on the bench. Laca just wasn’t that for me.

You could spend 50k on a TOTS Katoto that I feel massively out performs this SBC and is only 10% of the price. I think this is one to avoid and save your coins.
