Player Review
80 - Normal
This isn't just a good card for its price, it's a good card in general. I originally put him in my squad to test out Fahrmann and have kept him there since, even though he only has 8 chem.
He's strong in every stat that makes a defender great and nothing more, which probably explains why he's only 80 overall. His height and strength means he'll win headers even with poor jumping stats. His pace means he's challenged every speedy PL striker I've come up against so far. His weight makes him stocky so his presence alone knocks players off the ball, but he never feels slow or clunky. With the right chemistry card his defence stats means he can nick the ball cleanly and efficiently within your box. I can't remember the last time he gave away a penalty due to a clumsy challenge, and in the near 300 games I've used him he's only picked up 4 reds.
One big negative for him is his finishing. That's not normally important for a defender but if you play with an attacking mentality he has a tendency to get up the pitch. While his passing and hold-up play is fine in your own half he just gets in the way if you're chasing a lead. It's bittersweet because his positioning in attack is actually quite good, so many times I'll pass to him by accident because he's in a phenomenal position, only to disappointed by his finishing again and again.
Lastly I think his ability will greatly depend on what chemistry card you use. I use Anchor and it's enough to push his pace, physicality and defence stats into the phenomenal range. I assume a Shadow card will be equally as good but I personally wouldn't sacrifice the extra strength, aggression and jumping an Anchor card can give you.
- Height and strength
- Pace is great for such a stocky defender
- Complete bully with the right chemistry card
- Cheap as chips
- Poor finishing/attacking passing, worsened by the fact that he roams up field if you play with attacking mentality. Gets in the way a lot.
