Being a die hard West Brom fan (I know, I know.) I simply had to try this card out. I used him in the team in SB and FUT Champs. Immediately, Rooney and Zaha went up top, leaving Chadli to fill the CAM role, subbing off Sterling for FUTMAS Junuzovic. If you had his SBC card last year, he is very similar to this. I use him with a Hawk chemistry style (which boosts him to 93 pace, 94 shooting and 90 Physicality.) He feels very similar to Ivan Perisic in the way he plays. Below is what I found whilst using this card.
He is an amazing set piece taker - but keep him in the box for corners. His 6'2" frame can stick his noggin on most corners.
Great long shots and shot power, but make sure he is balanced and ready to take the shot (62 balance) otherwise it will float harmlessly away
Heading - tall, but only has 71 heading (although can be boosted with correct chem style)
Finishing - anywhere inside the box, "Chadders" is finishing the chance 90% of the time.
Passing - he can pick out passes short or long, which is useful for where I play him.
Stamina - He'll finish a match pretty easily.
HIs balance and agility make him poor at a winger role - utilise him by playing him in the middle of the park.
When i seen this card released i had to try it and see if it was any good and to my surprise it was better than good. He plays very much the same as lukaku but is better for a wide CAM. I play him as my left sided came in a 4-2-3-1 formation and he offers so much to the team. Good dribbling, excellent passing but his main attributes are his finishing and physical. Can finish inside and outside the box with both feet and because of his 90+ strength he can bully defenders no bother. There is only one down fall to this card same with lukaku and that is his poor balance and agility but it wasnt that much of a problem for me. Also the fact that he is under 70k makes him great value and a cheap beast as you could play him in any of the forward positions.
4* weak foot
agility and balance a bit on the low side
I got tricked because I thought Chadli was a good value as a LM/LW with EPL and Belgium linkage. I hoped I could fit him into my EPL (Lukaku), Calcio A (Mertens), and Bundesliga (Batshuayi) squads.
I tried him in all of those situations and must say that he is a master of none...mediocre in everything and therefore not playable on your starting squad. His worse offense is his dribbling. He cannot for the life of him pass anybody unless he is already in front of him (in which case he will get caught from behind so I had to L2 dribble him the whole time). He's also not agile/balanced enough to dribble around anybody. As a result, he can never get too far into the box to actually take advantage of his 88 shooting stat.
The best I can describe him is a holding midfielder on the left wing. If you need to lock down defensively, you sub him in. But he is not your starter. There are so many better Belgium left wingers (both Thorgan and Eden Hazard) and many many left wingers in EPL (Son) that would perform better. I would say he is slightly better than Yannick Carrasco (Halloween version) because his strength allows him to hold the ball and his passing is decent. I wish EA would make his defending stat higher, cuz then he would have more value as a defensive mid.
Overall, I cannot recommend Chadli as a starter on your FUT team at 60-70k. Bad value for a master of nothing.
- Tall with decent strength. Good for defending airballs in the midfield. Holding Midfield activity
- Belgium + EPL chemistry (good linker for EPL, Bundesliga guys such as Batshuayi, or Calcio A ST such as Mertens)
- Terrible dribbling. Not agile/balanced enough to L1 dribble around defenders. Not fast enough to dribble past them
- Suffers from being mediocre at everything. Need to have one shining stat to make him worthwhile.
- Bench fodder for 60-70k not worth it when 87 Son is only 80k and TOTS Thorgan is 100k
