As a united fan I wanted to at least try out sergio romero in order to compare him to keepers like ter stegen, asenjo or butland. And honestly I didnt really notice any difference which really shocked me because his stats are anything but amazing. it seems to me that this year the opponents understanding of how to finish is more improtant than whoever you have in goal, as long as it's a gold goalkeeper.
His Diving and Reflexes are average in my eyes, at least on the playing field. However he seems to get down to save low drivens a lot quicker than for instance Ter Stegen, which might be due to his below average heigt.
Pace in my eyes is never really important.(for keepers)
I also like the fact that he has the longthrow perk which enables him to throw above most attackers and makes counter attacks feel a lot smoother.
Like every goalkeeper in the game he sometimes punches crosses away instead of catching them which can lead to annoying goals, but i wouldn't count that as a con for him, more for keepers in general.
When i used Ter Stegen i noticed that sometimes he does Wondersaves that completely make no sense at all, like grabbing the ball through the attackers feet or stretching and bending his arms in impossible ways. I never had that with Romero however thats also not what im looking for in a keeper so im okay with that.
