he is one of the best CM in the entire game his passing is extraordinary and his shooting OMG especially the long shot he can score such an amazing screamers
his defending is very very good his work rate ( High/High) will help you to control the game .
I have a pretty stacked team and I didn't think 89 Gerrard would make a huge difference after having used his baby card a while, which didn't impress me. I just wanted to try him out anyway because I felt like I missed a CAM with good shooting. I liked this Gerrard, he had really nice passing and was much stronger than I expected him to be, he kept defenders of the ball while setting up an attack. So I thought I might give him a chance at ST, and damn, that changed my game. His longshots are really nice, he's a real finisher. He doesn't score every game, but when he scores it are always really nice goals.
But for me where he really shines is the creation of chances. I partner him with FB Ibra at ST and Hazard at CAM and often it's Gerrard that creates chances with his great passing and positioning, feeding assits to Ibra.
Something else I really enjoyed about the card is that his corners are really good. I noticed the amount of goals from corners went up when I assigned the task to him. This is something I haven't experienced since TOTY KDB last year.
Last but not least: stamina. I don't get why because 87 isn't much more than the rest of my team, and his workrates should make him tired faster, but he's the one that lasts the longest in my current team.
This is for sure the best Icon under or around 1m I have tried.
Wow this card is everything you wish for in an Icon. Gerrard 89 version is a vast upgrade to his 86 in terms of a META player. This card can compete with the best midfielders in the game and this is not an exaggeration. If you have the coins available do not think twice in buying have a look at my video review which goes into depth.
The middle Icon Steven Gerrard is everything you'd expect from a box-to-box midfielder. He covers all of the pitch, and while doing so shoots, passes and tackles almost perfectly. I played him with Hunter, cause I apparently haven't given up on FIFA 18 and like my players being as fast as possible. I used him as a CDM in 4231 narrow, but I didn't ask him to stay back, so he played more like a box-to-box.
From 43 games he has 15 goals and 14 assists. From central midfield that is pretty amazing as I mostly score from the wing or inside the box. He gets a lot assists from precise corners into the head of Van Dijk.
His boosted 80 pace is very obvious and helps both in creating chances and tracking back. He is not Kante fast, but he is fast.
His shooting is phenomenal. Even though pretty much any player can score with green timed finesse shots, Gerrard does it even more impressively and his long range power shots are amazing as well. He shoots like he did in real life, and I can only imagine how well his Prime must do from distance. Close range finishing is great too.
Passing. Oh my God. It is so good. You can feel the Icon thing. He is just next-level. Pogba, Eriksen and KDB are great as well, but Gerrard is different class in that respect. Really amazing at passing.
Dribling is fine. He does not seem clunky to me, but he is definetly not Messi. He does better than expected, and is way more agile than Pogba.
Defending is really good, even though he only has 75. He never really misses standing tackles and I don't use sliding. He makes a lot of interceptions too. Honestly, I just don't see any weaknesses in this department.
Physicality is decent. He does win some headers, but against taller players he does not. He can hold his own when holding off players. Seems a lot like he was back in his day.
Important: Initially, I did not like him. The first five games I thought he was not good enough compared to his price. But once you get to know him, he turns into a monster. I struggled with him in Rivals but later he set the Weekend League on fire. If you doubt him after the first five-ten games, just stick with him. You won't regret it.

The "Icon factor". Some things just come off when he tries it which wouldn't have happened with "normal" players.
Price. Got him cheap for 1.01 mil, and he has just gone below 1 mil. I think he justifies his price, but it is still a lot.
Stamina. 87 stamina is good, but he has H/H workrates and just never stops. It's like Forrest Gump, though he does not run for years. He is always the most tired midfielder, but I guess that's logical considering his role in the team. However, when he is tired, he does not slow down. It's like he doesn't know, that he is tired.
3* skills and weakfoot. If you're a skiller, I guess you won't like Gerrard. His weakfoot is okay, but it does give some problems now and then.
