Player Review
84 - IF
The title should let you know how highly I rate this man, and I've played UT for around 8 years now. The early stages of FUT can be difficult, chances are you're not gonna be rocking CR7 and Prime Henry up top anytime soon, but if like me you're looking for a middle ground, an upgrade on the cheap sweaty strikers like Zaha etc then look no further than Ben Yedder.
Ben Yedder is phenomenal, 54 goals in 45 games across both squad battles and division rivals is personally up there with the best strike rates I've achieved in Fifa. Before I break down the card stats, I just want to emphasise how this card seems to have an 'Icon' feel to it, at least in the last few years, sometimes Icons tended to outperform their stats and this card has that vibe.
Pace-
Pace is great, not electric Mbappe type pace, but fast nonetheless, play him in behind defenders and expect him not to be caught, Hawk probably helps this. No problems here.
Shooting-
Absolutely incredible, when I say around 60% of his goals were scored outside the box this should put into perspective the kind of quality he has. I found no problem with his shot power, BUT I absolutely 100% recommend finesse shots, because this is where I found Ben Yedder to excel, his ability to find corners with finesse shots from outside the box was incredible, I'll attach a video below of an example. Inside the box, he's clinical as hell, one of the best finishers i've ever used, and high positioning means he's always where you need him to be. 5* weak foot is deadly and this means the finesse shots I talked about earlier can be performed on either foot, eliminating the need to check back onto the favoured foot.
Passing -
Above average passing on a striker means he's perfect for a tiki taka style of play and I actually used him at CAM for a little while, he's no iniesta but passes exactly how you'd expect a player with 79 passing to pass. No complaints.
Dribbling -
Exceptional. Admittedly I haven't used the Messi's of the game, but if I had, I couldnt imagine that he would dribble much better than Ben Yedder. High agility and balance make him elusive af and he's easily able to evade and dribble past players, easily one of the best dribblers I've used so far this year.
Defending-
Meh. Not why you're buying him though really is it?
Physical -
Now, this is a talking point. He isn't strong, I'm not going to lie to you. BUT, with the technical ability he has, it's relatively easily to avoid physical confrontations and get yourself out of trouble. He's not horribly weak but if he's shoulder to shoulder with chiellini we know who's coming out on top. High jumping was a nice perk, don't expect him to win every header, because he won't, but he has a nice habit of winning headers he has no right to win. Stamina was no issue at all, but I tend to have my strikers set to 'Stay forward'.
Need I say more, Ben Yedder is essentially the best striker for his price on the market right now, so if all this sounds appealing, go grab him. Thanks for reading.
- Deadly Finesses/shooting generally, topped with 5* weak foot.
- Icon Feel, great value for money, especially at this stage of Fifa.
- Balance/Agility/Dribbling.
- A little weak
- Not suited for those in search of a target man
- Fairly Pricey/Unobtainable to some
