Serie A (or notorious Calcio A) was always full of great defenders, especially CB's, in all of the price ranges and this year, it seems to be even better.
There is no other solution to cope with such a luxury in terms of defenders from Serie A than to test them one by one (unless you read this review). However, the moment of picking Benatia for a trial has to end with a regular play and what kind of play it is!
First of all the Moroccan is a great defender with all needed traits and abilities. Fantastic marking and tackling, absurdly good interceptions, perfectly timed clearances. All of it comes with might of his muscular body. Despite the fact of his wild nature he is not too aggressive or edgy. His interventions are being made with class of a professor and with resoluteness of a great and experienced professor.
Nevertheless, defense is not the only bright side of mr. Benatia. He has an absolutely decent pace, which is enough to catch up with the strikers. Adding up, the defender of Juventus is a real threat during corners and his heading abilities are even more helpful and more significant in front of his own goal.
Last but not least, he is a decent playmaker. He could easily take a ball and pass with both foots up to 30 meters with an absolute ease. That trait appears to be essential in starting counter attacks or tries of calm down the play when it becomes too chaotic.
Summarizing, it is obvious that Benatia is a fantastic player. Of course there are still better CB's, but to have one of them the deep pockets are needed. However, he can be easily named as a 'beast', especially when the so reasonable price is being considered.
+Complete defender with no weak points in terms of defending
+Aerial threat during corners
-There are no real bad sides of Benatia. The remarks are not cons in fact, but distance between his quality and perfection.
