Player Review

87 - SIF
4.0
87 Aspas
By mdlibrandi, 01-02-2019

I got 87 Aspas as a futchamps reward (my only decent one ever), and didn't really think I was going to use him because I already had, and liked Griezmann. After struggling to find a La Liga CAM, I figured I would try Aspas there because his stats seemed decent enough to play there, and I think it was a great decision. I think that by playing here, the stats that would be drawbacks from playing him at striker (lack of elite sprint speed, low strength, low jumping) are non-factors.

Pace: At striker, I don't think his pace would play will because the sprint speed is only decent, even if the acceleration is good. Even with a hunter I don't think that he will have the top end speed that quick strikers require. However, if you play him at CAM that weakness becomes a relative strength, as not many CAMs are as quick as him. Because of this, he is often able to make good runs in behind the strikers.

Shooting: I use a deadeye on him which gives him 99 attack positioning and finishing. He certainly gets into great positions and is able to put the ball in the back of the net more often than not. Deadeye gives him 91 shot power, however it still seems like his shots are relatively weak. The long shots get boosted to 89 which means he is able to score some decent finesse shots from deep. 3 star weak foot is definitely not ideal, especially at striker. If you're playing him at CAM I find it a bit easier to shift the ball onto his left foot. The questionable weak foot along with the only decent shot power can lead to some pretty horrible right footed shots.

Passing: Deadeye gives him 95 short passing which I find to be pretty good in just general passing. Sometimes he struggles to put through balls in behind, but other times he places them perfectly. 89 crossing is very nice, although I prefer to keep him centrally and rely on other crossers.

Dribbling: Very solid on the ball. His ball control seems to be particularly good, controlling hard passes to his feet and chest with ease.

Defending: 84 heading is a nice luxury to have for CAM who makes runs into the box for crosses. Although he is not elite in the air, he can put away any clear cut chances. I don't normally like when my CAM has a high defensive work rate, because I want them to stay forward. That being said, he does seem to win the ball back a couple times a game which is nice, however, then he isn't in position to be the outlet pass to start the counter attack so its not all that great.

Physical: He definitely lacks physically across the board. 78 stamina is normally alright for my CAM, however, because of the High/High work rates, it can drain very fast, especially if you're pressing or attacking heavily. His 71 jumping is a bit of a letdown, because his 84 heading is often gone to waste because he struggles to win the ball (perhaps the low aggression also factors in here as well). 62 strength is not enough to be a presence as a striker. Even at CAM he can get muscled off the ball easily at times, so it's best to shift the ball quickly.

Simply put, he is not a striker, he is a CAM. This maximizes his positives and minimizes his negatives. Because he was futhchamps rewards for me I didn't have to buy him. I am not entirely sure if I would want to buy him for 125,000+ (at time of writing), although I have struggled to find anyone worthy of replacing him.

Do not overlook him

I'm div 2/3 player. Having packed Aspas in a rare players pack, I decided to give him a try in my 4-2-3-1 La Liga squad, even though he's tradeable. I have previously used his SBC 89-rated card at RCAM, but it failed to impress me. However, I decided to put him at ST with hawk chemistry style and this card is completely different. It's insane and has easily replaced UEL Ben Yedder. Almost every single shot goes in. Name it:...

Worth Every Penny

This is just an awesome card. When I was making LaLiga SBC, I were thinking if this card is not good, i will spend my money to a rubbish card but I compared with strikers with the same coin costs and Aspas was the best one. I finished the SBC and put hawk chemistry style on him. I went into a Division Rivals match. That man scored 3 goals so easily.

The small but deadly spaniard

.minutres This is my first review and I don't know how to take this black highlight thing off but ill work with it. Iago Aspas is an incredible little specimen as he is super agile with 91 agility and can glide past defenders no matter how big or strong. He does need a chemistry style that will help his pace out a little. I play him with the hawk chem style as this improves his...
