Very solid RB option for Serie A

Anybody running a Serie A squad on a budget, a Serie A squad not on a budget and with an expensive version of Cancelo, or in need for solid links to Skriniar 87 or Nainggolan should have a look at this review as this review is about Vrsaljko. I have the OTW version, but the regular card has the same stats and the UCL version is a bit better as he has +1 on several stats.

Well, if you’re looking for a game changer, you don’t have to continue reading this review, and the same applies if your wing backs are a crucial part to your game as I haven’t tested him in that kind of role. I play 4 4 2, 4 2 2 2 and 4 2 4, depending on the score, and in all formations Vrsaljko is the lock on the door on the right side of the pitch with the instructions to stay back and that’s the only thing I expect from him.

My wingbacks need to be fast, combined with solid passing, decent height and physical stats. Vrsaljko with anchor has the following stats:

87 acceleration
85 sprint speed
82 crossing
87 marking
91 standing tackle
95 jumping
90 stamina
85 aggression

He combines these stats whilst being 1.81m tall and H/M work rates. Let me start with indicating that the H/M are not causing any issues for me. He shines in winning back the ball and giving it to one of the midfielders for further distribution down the pitch. He has the quality to give some direct passes to the ST and wingers as well, but I don’t use my wingbacks a lot more in offence. Vrsaljko doesn’t lose a lot of headers due to his high jumping and height. The left wingers that are being used are usually just above the average toddler size, so he is more than capable to win the duels in the air. Next to this, and the way that FIFA is set up this year, his pace is quick enough to track back any attacker that has breached the defensive lines. Of course, you won’t catch the usual suspects when they are clean through, but since almost no wingback can do this this isn’t an issue.

I’ve used Vrsaljko for 350+ games, and he has very unimpressive stats. 2 assists is nothing to brag about, and this could have even been in squad battles haha. However, he never feels to perform in a game and you can rely on him to give the LW a run for his money. I’ve recently acquired Cancelo OTW and I anticipate to sell him soon since he isn’t worth the 200k+ extra when there’s a budget option that does the same thing for 95%.

Vrsaljko will keep running and gunning the entire game, hunting down the ball whenever it comes near him, winning the aerial duels and ensuring that you come back in possession a lot quicker than the opponent was hoping for. He does what he needs to do and he is very good at it. He is a very solid option for any Serie A team that doesn’t have millions to spend, and I’m rooting for him to get an IF again as an 84 rated card would be a very significant boost.
