This guy is outrageous. Defensively he's fairly solid and is good at keeping possession, but the major factor is the outrageous shooting he has that is hidden behind that '80' on the front of the card.
To give background, I'm Div 5 online and play legendary offline. I've always played offline more but decided to have a crack at my first ever Champions Weekend League where I'm currently 9-5.
Overall Medel has played 25, scored 18, assisted 7 - a perfect contribution of 1 per game.
Straight in, and the main reason I bought his card. His 52 finishing (which brings his shooting start down to 80) is somewhat noticeable in the box. But with 98/99 in every other stat here, he is phenomenal outside the box. It's probably hindered me that I try to pass to him too often, but when he gets space his strike is vicious! I'm not saying he scores every single time, but 18 in 25 from a 'defensive midfielder' is impressive. Hes also nearly unstoppable at pens - you can confidently smash it top bins without it missing or the keeper being able to get a hand to it.
I'm massive on keeping possession, and his passing is solid. I combine him with Pjanic in a 3412. Pjanic holds to allow Medel to get forward within shooting range, so the two of them combine beautifully to keep the ball. He's also been great at turning and holding onto the ball under pressure.
Tackling-wise he's solid too. Despite his height, he's quite strong and able to win his fair share, though tackling has always been my weakest area (hence the need to keep possession so badly) so he's helped me there.
And lastly, he's under 30k which is ridiculous!
As I've said, I prefer to keep possession so I'm definitely not a pace whore. His speed isn't an issue for me - patient possession play means he has always been able to get back quickly enough to help with his share of the dirty work. Though he's not capable of streaming past opponwnts; he has to pass around them. He's not super fast, so if people rely on pace this may be the one area that let's you down.
The only lithe downside would be linking him in to a hybrid. I've always used a Serie A team (criminally underrated) so it's not a problem for me, but he may be hard for others of trying to hybrid him.
I bought Medel a long time ago, after he had just come out. He was about 30k and there were not so many crazy cards back then. He left a great impression and even now I still use him sometimes. His pace is OK. His shooting is really fun, he has everything 98+ except finishing. His passing is great too, 99 short passing! His defending and physical are a bit outdated at this point in the game, but for the low amount of coins he is still fantastic.
Welcome to my second review of the year and I wanted to test Scream Medel since he was released, because it was a pretty nice and strange card and he linked to Vidal who is a big surprise for me this year. I played in LCM with Vidal in a 4-4-1-1 formation and I putted a shadow on him to increased his pace.
Where can I begin? Let's begin with the positive point. Strength was very good. I think it is better than Vidal at this point. When he wanted the ball, he goes and brings the ball back to my team. Also, the interceptions was nice, but not great. When Vidal makes a tackle, he wins it everytime, but sometimes, Medel does the tackles and looses the ball, like most of the players on this game I wanted to say. And the shot power was there. Not the finishing, but he knows how to blistering the ball, he just doesn't know how to put that in. It is all the good point I can give to him...
First thing of the bad things was playing with him in a bad connection. When your players doesn't feel that good, it is probably because of the balance and the agility and because of the game wants to give the victory to your opponent. Scream Medel have 98 balance and like 85 agility and in bad matches, he was BAD! Passing, shooting, pace, ... OMG he was so bad... Second it is about the stats is a lie. 98 balance? 99 long shot? 85 agility? Really dude? Vardy have better long shot than him! in one or two areas it is ok, but in like 4-5? That's a big problem. I don't want to to talk about the finishing, we know he sucks at this. Finally : the pace. every game that I played, he was slow as hell. Even with a Shadow on him. the big problem is during the acceleration.
For 40k, you have other options like Vidal for not even 5k with a Shadow, Allan for 35k, Nainggolan for like 5k (when the IF will not be in packs)... Don't buy him.
That's it for me, I hope you enjoy it. If you have any question, you can dm me on Twitter on @MRLouis_Charles.
