Wikipedia - During his career at Waterford he scored 14 goals in 32 games. Waterford's chairman, John O'Sullivan said of Maguire, "I'm a great fan of Lionel Messi at Barcelona. When I look at Seanie, he really reminds me of him." Maguire finished as top scorer in the 2012 League of Ireland First Division.
I'm a big fan of SBCs and having unusual and unique players. When Maguire's SBC dropped I immediately knew I had to fit him in.
He was a risk as the SBC doesn't give the best packs which reduces the chance of breaking even from the packs you get back. I think he cost me 120k all in after opening packs.
Overall - Fantastic goalscorer. He reminds me of a POTM Vardy but better. He is hard to work into a team with 10 chem with Keane being your only option.
To me, he is like having a cross between Vardy and Aguero.
Lightning Fast - He is almost uncatchable. His agility and balance allow for him to make space that only players like Messi, Mertens, etc usually give you.
Finishing - Inside the box, he is able to finish with either foot. Although, I'd stick to his right to be on the safe side. His composure was a cause for concern, but with his pace, he usually has the extra yard that it doesn't matter. He has scored 33 goals in 14 games for me in Div Rivals.
Dribbling - Amazing close control, the ball sticks to his feet and with his strength, he is wonderful at holding the ball up before making the run in behind.
Stamina - This is where he shines over a Messi and a Mertens. 91 stamina means deep into the game, he is still able to make the runs needed to grab you game-winning goals.
Passing* - His vision and short passing are great. He's pulled off some lovely lobbed through balls that have the weight and vision of a KDB.
Linkability - Not many options unless you have a team of icons or ok with having him on 7-8 chemistry.
Long shots - He's not gonna finish any magical flair finishes or rockets from outside the box
Finesse shots - I've not had much success and leave that to his partner up top (89 Rush)
Height* - His jumping and heading mean that I've not noticed any huge issues with height. Just partner him with a taller striker.
I did the Flashback Rooney SBC, and quickly realised that I couldn’t just use Tammy Abraham Headliners every game. I was looking through possible alternatives, when this man came up. At first, I was a little tentative- considering his 84 shooting rating, but I went ahead and completed the SBC. I’m so glad. He never misses a one on one. Always aim for the near post with him. Although his long shots are poor (this is noticeable in-game), if you play him as a target man, he should never get into situations where he has to shoot from outside the box. However, his pace is blistering. If you can get a through ball in behind the defence, Maguire will always be the first there. Then, with his incredible agility and dribbling, he gets past anyone who has somehow managed to stay with him. His short passing is good too, as this is the only type of passing you’ll need as a striker. He isn’t very strong but his dribbling counters this. I’ve been able to get him on 10 chem using an icon, but I’m sure he’ll be an amazing super sub too. He is certainly worth the price, so if you have a few coins and some Championship players lying about, I certainly recommend this SBC to you.
