Lucas Moura -- Is he worth it?
By jasonqh19, 31-05-2020

So, first I'd like to say that the star ratings are completely disregarded here as I do not find them an acceptable way to gauge a player's value. To those who simply looked at the lackluster star rating, felt dis-encouraged by it, and promptly left--I'm sorry. Also, this will not be short, as I have not nailed brevity well. If you feel like you should not invest a ton of time in reading a Futbin review, I completely understand.

For those of you who are reading this right now, welcome! You're probably reading this because you're curious about the card, but didn't want to make the huge investment in an untradeable player, especially when there is little information about him right now. And, you also saw the legions of people calling him overpriced, and thought "Huh, they're probably right, I don't think I should do this." Let me say, that's a completely fair reaction. Because after 20 games I still cannot say for certain whether or not I think the 1 million price tag is completely fair. It's true he'd probably go for more than Richarlison on the market, and it's also true that at 600k you'd have to play against him every game and that'd be waking hell. Therefore, I feel like this price tag is good ONLY in the sense that it keeps him appropriately rare relative to his ability. This doesn't answer, however, whether or not you should spend that 1 million on him

He's a 1-million coin Eusebio without the fear factor that comes with playing against Eusebio. His stats do not lie here. Compare his body type, SM/WF, and total stats to 93 Eusebio and you will see they are pretty comparable and I can say for certain he plays a lot like Eusebio in game. Eusebio's insane shot, his sticky dribbling--that's all there in this card. Perhaps some of Eusebio's strength is missing, but if you're trying to hold off defenders with Lucas Moura's body you're probably doing something wrong. The comparison to Ben Yedder, in my opinion, is unfounded--despite the obvious similarities. I never found Ben Yedder to be that strong on the ball and his shot always felt overrated to me. If you're picking up Moura because you love Yedder, I don't think you'll necessarily have a good time. If you're picking up Moura because you love Eusebio, well you should probably keep using Eusebio. That's the issue here. Moura can really only be most effective when played in the central CAM spot, but at this point in the game you may have a whole host of options and many of them may not be replaced by Moura. Comparing him to Neymar, for example, is somewhat unfair because they are very different players and the issue with Moura is that you have no ability to mulligan your mistake if you find out you don't like him. My playstyle isn't your's, and you could hate him.

Now, I recommend reading the pros and cons because this is more of a conclusion. For 1 million coins, there's a compelling argument that he simply isn't worth it, especially because you've now dumped about that much into someone you can't trade. If you find out that you don't like him--you're kinda screwed. And that kind of opportunity cost is hard to overcome, especially because you absolutely have to play him at CAM. You can't get the best out of him otherwise. For the 1 million coins, you can try out TOTY Mane, that new Youcef Atal or SS Ben Yedder, and if you don't like them you can trade them afterwards. However, don't get me wrong, if you match up against this guy in WL you're gonna hate it. He's probably gonna pull of some kind of wonderful, only-in-FIFA BS and you'll feel screwed. I feel bad because of how I screw people over with this card--that's how powerful he can be.That's the enigma of this Lucas card. Horrible to play against, but maybe not a great investment. Especially if you just want to have fun, because this card isn't fun, it's just amazing. And those two are separate.

Pace -- Obviously rapid. Playing in the central CAM spot in 4-2-3-1, I felt most surprised at how quickly he was able to get back and make the tackle. Playing central CAM, you're not necessarily asking that player to do a lot of running going forwards. But on the wings he also proved his ability, because he simply could not be caught, even when going up against the likes of TOTS Reguilon. However, there is one issue with playing Lucas on the wings, which will be covered in physical.

Shooting -- Wonderful shot. Don't try and go for finesse shots with him if at all possible. He's definitely more suited to full-on power. both his feet feel perfect and if you asked me which one was his strong foot--I could not tell you. I do not exaggerate when I say that unsaveable Eusebio-esque shot is present in this card. Shooting, also, can be a function of how open a player gets, and Lucas has no trouble in that regard. One particular highlight is his 99 balance, which is certainly present and can save you when you take a shot that's too heavy or get slightly clipped on the edge of the box. He hit the post a fair few times for me, mostly as a result of going full-power on shots, but he's also a bit of a rebound god. Which is an unfortunate thing to say because rebounds are quite possibly the worst thing to concede. When going up or playing with Lucas Moura, BS goals will be scored, without a doubt.

Dribbling -- Dribbling is, again, a function of whether or not the player can get open while dribbling. And Lucas certainly can. His left stick dribbling is smooth, responsive and even in the worst of gameplay can do a job. I find that sometimes select players can have pretty horrid first-touch, but Lucas possesses none of that shortcoming. He's also remarkably agile on the ball, squeezing into the tightest of spaces and getting the shot off whenever he wants. It's really refreshing to have a player who doesn't get all of his shots auto-blocked and as I see it, that's mostly a function of dribbling as opposed to shooting.

Passing -- You might see Moura's passing and assume that's a dealbreaker in this card, especially when playing CAM. I find generally my CAM is a bigger spearhead and finisher of my attacks than my ST, so maybe I haven't tested Moura's passing enough, but he always seemed to be able to get it off and with proper weight. Over 20 WL games, he collected a healthy total of 14 assists, which may not sound fantastic but that's much more than I usually get out of my CAM. He's also a good outlet passer, when playing out of the only-in-FIFA 80th minute team press, he can do well and he'll find the space that he needs to exploit to help your team out. This card is an immensely hard worker.

Defending -- Playing a CAM with come back on defense, you expect Moura to be able to cut some passing lanes while also pressuring your opponent's midfield double-pivot and forcing errors. He's able to do this job well. It's not a lot but it's something.

Physical -- Only one small concern with this card--I find Ben Yedder to be very weak obviously but with Lucas I have no problems in that sense. However, I find that, even with Marksman, pulling out the fake-shot-speed-boost, a crucial skill for basically anyone, he can be beaten for physicality on that skill. This may not sound like a lot but for how important this skill is, I feel like it's worth mentioning. His stamina is also somewhat concerning. Near the end of WL matches through the 105th minute, he can end up being pretty tired. This is definitely because of how I play come back on defense with my CAM, but a lot of people play this way so I won't be the only one with that concern. If you invest 1mil coins into a player, you'd hope they can play the whole match through extra time, and sometimes I keep him on just because I feel like I probably should, so that's definitely an issue.

Traits -- Again, Eusebio doesn't have any incredible traits and he's pretty OK. So I feel like this concern is overrated. Would it be nice if he could hit outside foot shots--certainly, but it's not necessary given his 5 star WF. Would it be nice if he could bend it like Beckham? Sure, I guess, but if the ball goes into the net either way it's not much of a concern. You could say this card, because of a lack of traits, lacks the requisite versatility for a player of this price tag, but I don't find myself thinking "If he had X trait that would've gone in" oh-so-often.

Spurs Savior
By Thekylaye, 31-05-2020

Where to start guys... I am a huge Spurs fan. I remember watching the Spurs vs. Ajax game live, I was sold on the fact that we were going out. We all know the story, Lucas essentially inhales Messi in Kirby-like fashion, spits him out and goes on a rampage, banging in 3 goals with his left to save the game and send us into the CL final where we would end up playing abysmally to a fantastic Liverpool side. I knew this card would eventually come ever since player moments became a thing, and although it is odd that it came during the Ligue 1 TOTS, i was happy nonetheless. I personally thought he was reasonably priced considering he is the most meta of meta with great links, so i immediatley threw all my fodder into this SBC. Probably spent like 500k out of pocket, and was excited to use him, his stats are essentially a better SS Ben Yedder. The 5* WF was totally deserved, and I wouldn't have done the card without that upgrade. I played him on the basic chemstyle, since it maxes the pace, gets the shot power up, boosts the passing, dribbling, and is essentially a great look for this card. Before the SBC came out I was running 98 Pele at ST (who isnt used enough btw, because he is fantastic) and 1POTM Messi at CAM. I shifted Lucas to ST, moved Pele to CAM, and pushed Messi out wide, and so far I have played 10 games. For reference I am an elite player, and I went into these games PRAYING Lucas would live up to his stats. After using him, I have mixed feelings about him...

Lucas is fast, his pace is no joke with 99s across the board. His acceleration was fantastic, and his short little legs moved so quickly. Some players that have decent pace take longer strides, but the short guys always feel faster. The dribbling was pretty responsive, I must say I expected a tad better, but it was still good. I use TOTS Mane on the left, and his dribbling, especially just with the left stick, felt a level above Lucas. His cut in fake shots are quality, I do the fake shot + la croqueta quite alot and it works pretty well. Not to mention the dragbacks... If you abuse dragbacks, especially in the box to get a shooting opportunity, this is your guy for sure. The defender thinks youre lining up a shot on his right? Hit em with the dragback and take it on the left. His passing was quality, had no complaints about it, and his physicals were surprisingly better than expected. And of course, the 5* WF felt quality, there is no doubt he got a genuine upgrade in this department.

This is where I faced a sad reality. I genuinely believe they forgot to upgrade the shooting on this card and just faked the numbers on it. It does NOT feel like 96 finishing, more like 80. his finesse shots are not reliable whatsoever, and he does not have any good shooting traits to save this aspect of his game. The only types of shot I felt comfortable doing with him were near post shots inside the box. I do not recommend playing him at ST, he missed quite a bit for me. He of course scored some, but it was pretty hit or miss, on either foot. I had to move him out wide and place Pele back at ST, since his shot is just lights out. So take this into consideration before you do the card. Maybe it was the terrible gameplay (which lets face it, occurs in over 50% of FUT games), but yea.

What a card
By ItzMaxK, 31-05-2020

So i had a lot of fodder and was waiting for a big SBC

and along comes Lucas and I did him for about 400k + fodder

WOW he is such an overpowered finisher

his pace is lightning and finishing is superb

I used him in WL (with his record keep in mind 3 games the person rage quit before lucas could make an impact or i get wrecked)

His Speed - He is rapid and will outrun even eder militao (which is really hard to do)

His Shooting - Unstoppable and he will score every chance possible

His Passing - Its decent but nothing special

His Pshyicality - His body type helps him win the ball in a 1v1 more often than not

His Curve- Do not finesse shot with him, its really bad but every other shot type goes in.

His Price- too much for an sbc imo

The Brazilian Magician
By louisclsb, 31-05-2020

Finally, EA listened. After dozens of Youtubers and the entire Fifa community complained for weeks about the lack of high end SBC cards released, this cheeky drop of a 6 segment Lucas Moura into our SBC section had been a long time coming. My club, and I'm sure most of the community, had been stacking up SBC fodder for weeks, with all the high end TOTS cards chilling in the club, waiting for a nice SBC to be dropped into. When I saw Lucas, I knew he was what I needed to rescue my team, and my all important CAM position in the 4231 narrow formation.

The upgrade from his 87 was beautiful. Incredible pace, dribbling, shooting, and ok passing made this card absolutely META. His agility and balance have always been top class on this game, but boost his AAB rating to 99 across the board and Zweback is having a laugh. It cost me zero coins to complete the 3 most expensive segments of his card, using all my poor red picks to raise the rating high enough to use dead players around them. Overall, only 250k of my actual coins were used up, a fantastic bargain which I was more than happy to trade in.

What was even more fantastic was the addition of the weak foot to this card. Now being 5*, he is akin to Neymar with his ability to weave in and out of defenders with ease, and be unpredictable about where he is going to turn. Unlike Neymar, he has much more pace, meaning when a through ball is played to him he will always get to it. His low centre of gravity makes the stickiness on this card unrivalled, and it turned my weekend league around.

In my first 13 games without Lucas, I went 6 wins 7 losses, terrible for me. Then, I got Lucas, selling the mediocre TOTS Promes for a huge loss and allowing the Brazilian beast to transform my gameplay. I consequently went 14 wins 8 losses, winning 8 games in a row with Lucas at the forefront of my success. If you're having doubts about submitting all your fodder into this card, just look at his stats. He's too good to pass up on, he just fits the game too goddamn well.

I'm an Arsenal fan, and I still think this guy is a beast. That's how you know you can trust this review (not just because of the amazing grammar.)

Electric Pace

Beautiful Dribbling

Clinical Finishing

Great positioning

Good passing (use a chemistry style, don't really think passing stats matter much on this game)

Incredible agility and balance

4* skills (would be nice to have 5 but still, let's not get ahead of ourselves)

5* weak foot (just too good at this point)

MOURA IS SICKKKKK
By MagzoubJr, 01-06-2020

Honestly guys I watched a couple of reviews about him and most of them were negative and I was so scared because by the time I watched those reviews I already completed most of the challenges in the SBC. Then I sent him to my squad in FUT Champs and I was 7-3, The guy is a goal scoring machine he doesn't miss guys he keeps scoring goals and I swear to god I was not spotting the light on him he was just always there. as I'm writing this review I'm 17-3. Yes I won 10 games in a row and moura didn't fail to score in a single one. Insane card honestly

Pace: Acceleration is outrageous but his sprint speed may let you down against defenders like varane and diego carlos but these guys catch almost every player in the game so no big deal honestly

Shooting: Critical Critical Critical both from inside and outside the box, tho I'll give his long shots a 7/10 because he did miss a few but he scored a banger

Passing: You can't really focus too much on how good a player could pass but he did his job honestly never felt like he couldn't pass

Dribbling: Insane dribbling but honestly but don't get excited he's not like players such as messi and neymar but he is up there trust me. Not an easy task to take the ball from him

Physical: nothing super here, his stamina did make him last all game I never subbed him but I liked his strength against not supper strong but not weak players like goreztka, he did manage to keep the ball

Honestly not much to say maybe the price if you're paying liquid coins to get him but since it's tots I'm pretty sure most of you have got alot of untradables in the club so if you could putthe price down I really recommend him. Maybe I'll say his strength is a Con if you're looking for strong and short players he's not y our guy

Baby Version of Baby Eusebio
By MaxiiKing97, 05-06-2020

Hey Guys, so I searched for a new Striker for a while now. I have used many TOTS Strikers like Aguero, Suarez, Son or Richarlison. Lucas Moura Moments is the best of them all and let me tell you why.

Lucas Moura just fits in the meta of FIfa 20 so well. The 5* WF is very important this year because the finishing is the worst it has ever been and the ability two finish the dinner with both feet is just the biggest plus with this card. Since his is a very small player you can really feel the pace. He is just rapide. His close dribbling is amazing and defender with low agility will have a hard time against him.

Now we come to the point why I only give him 4.5 stars and not 5. The shooting in general with this card just is not consistent enough for all type of shots. He is so bad at finesse shots, it is honestly astonishing. But at the near post he makes every shot a goal so you can get around the bad finesses.

+ 5* WF

+ Body type

+ Dribbling

+ Pace

+ Stamina

+ near post finishing

Finesse shots

strength

Price for a untradeable card

no good shot traits

The 27 Year Old Pele
By beansontoast123, 04-06-2020

Lucas Moura's new player moments card is absolutely amazing!!! He is just like Pele, who I owned in Fifa 19. He is so good at so many things and he is probably one of the best players I've ever used.

  1. Pace - He is soooo quick and gets to the ball faster than ANYONE
  2. Agility - He can turn as fast as the Flash!!!
  3. Balance - He has a speciality for this
  4. AND MUCH MORE.....
  • Price is a teeny bit over
  • His volleys are ok, but I can expect better
  • Curve is not on point, needs to be improved

Lucas Moura is basically Ben Yedder
By Nesbitonfire, 20-06-2020

Context: I’ve used Lucas for 117 games and feel that gives me a good justification to rate the card. I’ve used him at around 1200 skill rating as a central cam in a 4321.

Firstly his record is 117 games 117 goals and 74 assists

He is exceptionally mobile on this game and lives up to that 98 pace,

he easily manoeuvres through the defence using left stick dribbling and I’d argue he is as good as if not better than ss Ben Yedder.

I do not find his lack of curve to be a problem and still find his finesse shots to be of the highest quality.

His finishing in the box is exceptional and I used a maestro to buff his long shots which are as you’d expect with the randomness of goalkeepers.

  • pace
  • shooting
  • dribbling
  • responsiveness
  • stamina
  • aggression
  • movement
  • links - e.g son, ndombele
  • current price at 1.8mil is very inflated and is not worth it when the likes of son and richarlison are halve that
  • passing is okay I’d definitely recommend a maestro to boost, especially as a cam

Expensive but worth it
By Matty1388, 08-06-2020

When I saw this card last week I was initially put off by the price, but there's a reason this card costs so much. Of course, in FIFA 19 when you could do top icons for 1.5m coins, this would be madness. But with no icons easily available and with presumably a tonne of red picks wasting away in your club, this guy is worth it.

Playing up top with Richarlison, Lucas bagged 41 goals for me as I finished 23-7, which was an incredible return. I keep stats for my WL each week and my best so far this year was Fut Birthday Havertz with 35 back in April. Nobody had sniffed 40 for me this year. He also had 24 assists - I expect about 15-20 for my goal-dominant striker so this was above expectations.

Overall, he was absolutely brilliant for me and with the game only around for a couple more months, you should do him if you have some fodder. Reasons below:

Positioning is his best attribute. He was always in the right place and whilst you can't score every shot, he gave himself every chance.

Most of my goals were either regular shots or volleys, with a couple of finesses thrown in. If you ignore my opponents being good at keeper movement, he only really had one gilt-edged chance that he didn't put away...but then he came back in the same game and got me the winner.

Sometimes cards with five-star weak foot have that 'fake' weak foot that simply doesn't feel as good as their strong one. Not the case here, his left was absolutely deadly.

In terms of pace and agility he's smaller than my other guys with maxed-out pace so he felt a little bit faster. His turns and drag backs were great too.

Passing is a bit trickier to judge - it's tough to tell a good passer from a bad one since so much of this is reliant on the person controlling the players, but he didn't feel worse than Cruyff or KDB, who are both known as some of the best passers in the game. I'm not the best dribbler/skiller, but he still made some people look silly, particularly from short corners. 9/10

The only thing that wasn't top tier was his physicality, but really, only Boateng dominated him - most of the time he held his own against the Militaos and Varanes of the world. He was also decent at winning the ball back.

I had high hopes for him after he was released, but I was fully prepared to eat humble pie if I was wrong. I said to my friends that he looked like a dollar store Eusebio, but honestly, I can't imagine Eusebio could be much better than this guy. He is absolutely perfect for the meta, he's the best striker I've used this year and I think right now I would only trade him for 94+ R9 or Birthday Mbappe.

I noticed last week that some people were trying to compare him to other cards with much cheaper SBCs, saying they were similar players. Of the seven games I lost, three of them had Lucas in their team and a few other tough players had him as well. I did not see Jota, Kamada or any other SBC attacker at all. The only Moments I saw were the ones you'd expect - Militao, Ramos, and the occasional Hazard.

So if you are thinking of doing this SBC, I cannot recommend him highly enough. Hope this helps!
