Player Review
84 - Normal
Hey everyone,
I created this review to tell you how good this standard Goretzka is. I use him in either a 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1 as a DM with a shadow chem style and let me tell you, wow he is incredible. He's everywhere on the pitch, tackling and intercepting all the time! I mainly use him in the 4-4-2 formation because he allows me to have 1 less person in the middle of the pitch as he is everywhere! He honestly really surprised me with how good he is! I have played well over 100 games with him in CM (shadow chem style) and have to say that he is one of the best CMs I have used this fifa - but for an 84 rated gold card he is insanely good, definitely worth investing in and trying before other options. Because of his H/M workrates he is often higher up the pitch as well, and he contributes a lot in attack. He's not amazing going forwards, but if you know how to finish and take a safer option when passing/dribbling he will not let you down. Sure, he can't beat 5 people with dragbacks and other dribbling techniques, but that's not why he's in your team. He's the perfect DM to make your attacking players flourish, and using him allows you to invest much more money in attacking players!
Interceptions and Tackling - honestly is unbelievable at this, he is everywhere on the pitch. Up there with Allan and Kante as the best normal gold card DMs for defensive work.
Passing and Dribbling - These aren't amazing obviously, but good enough to use in the middle of the park. I normally use Goretzka to give the ball to better attacking players I have in my team. He very rarely loses the ball when you play it fairly safe with these.
Shooting - Again going back to the H/M work rates, when playing in CM i find him sometimes in the box, and when he gets a chance oh my he is clinical.
Stamina - He is up and down the pitch, and with 86 Stamina is obviously really good but not great. However, it feels like he has 95+ stamina based on how much he is involved in the game and still puts in a great shift at the end of the game.
H/M workrates can sometimes means he gets forwards too much, more of an issue if playing him as a CM instead of a DM (even with stay back instructions).
