Great Wall of Holland

I decided to replace my Ramos with VVD before this weekend league. Besides Varane it was an absolute monster and a major upgrade. While Ramos lost too many 50-50 duels and the attackers always stumbled through the defense, VVD won every duel and didn't let anyone pass. At first I had some problems with his positioning, but as soon as I knew how to play with him, he was an absolute game changer. Also, I could finally get dangerous through corners because VVD wins almost every header duel.

Pace: mit Shadow ist er schnell genug, um auch schnelle Angreifer wieder einzuholen. Ich würde ihn dennoch neben einen schnellen CB wie einen Varane oder Hernandez spielen, um auch die 95+ Pace Spieler einzuholen. 9/10

Shooting: As CB irrelevant, except for a few attempts to shoot after corners he was never in shooting position. I still give him 4/10 points because his shots after corners were always dangerous.

Passing: Solide Kurzpässe, kann einen schnellen Spielaufbau voranbringen. Alles, was man als Verteidiger braucht. Lange Pässe verpassten häufiger ihr Ziel, daher 8/10.

Dribbling: Manchmal etwas clunky am Ball, aber alles in allem ein solides Dribbling für einen Innenverteidiger. Vergleichbar mit dem Dribbling von Ramos. 8/10

Defending: Now to VVD's strengths. He's an absolute defensive wall. Every 1 vs. 1 he decides for himself, almost every sliding tackle hits the ball and he intercepts the remaining attacks. An absolute Gamechanger in the defense. 10/10

Physicality: 92 Strength feels like 99 strength, pushing everyone away from the ball. 75 Stamina is enough to play 120 minutes without any problems. The 90 Jumping in combination with 91 head ball accuracy (with shadow) are deadly in the defense as well as in the offense. 10/10

For me, VVD is the best non-icon defender in Fifa20. While Ramos, Varane, Lenglet, Militao and co. often have mood swings and lose duels against Lucas Moura, Rashord etc., VVD wins them all. Whoever has the money left should sooner or later decide to include VVD in their defense. With stronglinks to Andy Robertson, Alisson and Trend-Alex Arnold IF, it's not difficult to add VVD to the team with additional meta-players.
