Prime Frank Rijkaard
By FalcaoIsGoat, 08-04-2020

All games in div 4 rivals. The squad I used him in was in a 4-5-1, Ter Stegen 8 chem GK, 88 Lisandro Lopez LCB, 88 Nesta RCB, 87 Tagliafico LB, 84 Atal RB, Momets Di Maria LM, 88 Enzo Perez CM, 89 Thauvin RM, 87 Acuna LAM, Rijkaard RAM, and 88 Taarabt striker. In-game I played Rijkaard CDM in a 4-1-2-1-2(2) with a shadow. When I saw him pop out of my prime icon pack, I had no clue what to think. His stats looked decent, and he was 600k when I packed him, but his balance and work rates scared me. I applied shadow, and I think that was the right move, his passing is very good already, so the extra defensive stats and the huge pace upgrade were very helpful. In-game he is alot different than I expected, he is very fast with a shadow, so he can recover very well if dribbled/passed around. His long legs intercept every pass the opposition put near him, and he stops alot of attacks by making key interceptions. His tackles are strong and he can win most 50/50 balls on the ground or in the air. His dribbling is ok, balance isn't great, and he is not the most agile, but he can dribble fairly well for a man of his size. With his height and strength, he is a good shielder of the ball and he can body almost anyone. His passing is very good, much like Enzo Perez, he doesn't have much curve, but his passes are still super sharp and accurate. His long shots are also very good, and in the box, he has finished every chance I've given him. The med/med work rates are not a problem as long as he has cover center and stay back in tactics, he also has good stamina so he can last all game. Overall, he is a complete monster in-game. I'm not sure I'd pay 600k for him, but if you get him out of the prime icon pack, he may not be what you wanted, but he plays well in-game and is very useable.

  1. Afro.
  2. Pace, Surprisingly fast with shadow for someone as big as him.
  3. Interceptions, Very good def awareness and interceptions, he stops a lot of promising attacks.
  4. Tackling, Strong, forceful tackles make him a very good ball winning CDM.
  5. Height/Strength, Rijkaard is very present in defense.
  6. Passing, Good vision, short passing, and long passing help him keep the ball.
  7. Long Shots, Hit them over a lot, but he scored 2 bangers from 25 yards out.
  1. Aggression, I like my defensive mids to have a lot of aggression, and in some of Rijkaards tackles, he doesn't go in like a Keane or Gattuso would.
  2. Agility/Balance, Agility is ok, but it could be better, balance isn't a problem in defense, but sometimes he was a little clumsy on the ball.
  3. Price, I would not buy him for the 600k he is, he is very good, but there are better options for that price range.

So I packed this guy out of my prime icon pack and even though I didn't really need him I gave him a try.

The thing is he isn't that bad he is even a pretty good CDM but I think there are too many con's on this card and so many better options on the market for the same price.

I played about 50 games with him and he was VERY inconsistent. He wwas a CDM with a saty back while attacking instructions and an anchor slapped on him. Some games he was the bst star of the team like he intercepted every pass and made god assists but some other games he felt horribly clunky and wasn't able to do a proper pass.

For me at this stage of the games he is definetely not a must buy player and there are soooo many better options.

1) Defending : When he was on a good match he was a brick wall and made some very smooth interceptions

2) You can kinda play him a CB if one of yours gets sent off

1) Passing : He was simply unable to do any clutch pass (which is a HUGE con for a game like this). He can pass but only with his strong foot and without any pressure

2) Shooting : HE COULDN'T FINISH ANY SHOT ! Through those 50 matches he might have scored 5 goals (out of at least 40 shots)

Unexpected Beast
By Figonuclear, 28-06-2020
Ok so I packed him out of the Prime Icon Pack sbc and I wasn´t sure if it´s an L so I tried him with Goretzka Moments and Ndombele Summer heat in the Midfield. He played CDM in the 433(4) Formation ingame and he was/is unexpected good. Almost every pass is a beauty and arrives to the teammate (in my team was it Kamada or Diaby) which leads to many, many goals especially in the first minutes of the Game because Rijkaard is a goat in Game Building Football. His 87 Strength and 90 Defending is a very good addition to the 4 Defenders. All in all you can say he is everywhere on the Pitch and with his 90 Stamina he can easily play 90 minutes as a CDM/CM to defend an also bring the crucial passes.

Great CDM - Complete Player
By Zobdab2017, 28-08-2020

I had previously used Kante as my CDM but I grew frustrated with his lack of presence in front of the defense and his tackling against stronger midfeilders like Pogba, Sissoko, etc. Rijkaard is so good for me protecting the defense but his distribution and physicality is really what sets him apart from players like Kante. I used him in a 4-3-3 (2) with cut passing lanes, stay back while attacking, and cover center (I don't always have my CDM cover center but because of his size and stats that suits him better). I haven't had problems with his balance defensively or on the ball as I usually only dribble with a CDM if there is a lot of space and if there is a lot of space then balance isn't very relevant.

Pace- 8/10: he doesn't quite feel rapid but he moves pretty well

Shooting- 7/10: I haven't shot much with him but he usually makes the keeper work and I've scored a couple rebound goals after he took a shot

Passing- 9/10: I love his distribution which is something I haven't really had in a CDM in this version of the game. The catalyst chem style I've been using probably helps. He rarely gives the ball away on simple passes and his decisive passing is also pretty good.

Dribbling- 8/10: He has good ball control and composure so he can hold the ball pretty well but he's not gonna turn into Messi and start weaving through defenders.

Defending-9/10: interceptions and tackling are good. He can win the ball with strength, his positioning, and his tackling. His heading is also pretty good.

Physicality- 9/10: His stamina and strength are both excellent and I haven't had problems with his 78 aggression. His jumping is also good and made even better by his hair and overall size.

It's about to be September so it doesn't matter much, but I've really enjoyed Rijkaard and if you're looking for a good CDM he is a great option and a overall complete player imo.
