First off, thanks for reading. Secondly, I'm always open to feedback and/or questions about any reviews I do.
On to the review: plainly speaking, this card is fantastic and extremely fun to use. I have used nearly all of the top level Premier League strikers in this years FIFA. I have also used TOTY Lewandowski. I can honestly say, this Jota card has been the most fun. It doesn't hurt that he's an absolute beast.
I would recommend using either Hawk to get a strength and jumping boost for some heading threat, or Hunter for the obvious pace and shooting boost.
For this review I will use Hunter.
Pace:
With Hawk, his first couple of steps are insanely quick but he may lack the top end speed to run away from the fastest defenders. Although with the strength boost, he can hold off defenders.
With Hunter, he is simply blazing fast. With either card, his acceleration is 98 (hawk) or 99 (hunter), and his first few steps, he leaves anyone behind. His top end speed with hunter is 94 and unlike other players with similar pace, he legitimately leaves defenders behind. If he gets in front of a defender, he doesn't get caught.
Shooting:
He has no shooting traits and so far that has not been a problem at all. His shooting is fantastic. He has a pretty good finesse shot with decent curve. His regular shot has pretty good power behind it. He does have 5* weak foot and his left is legit. I will say I noticed as the match goes on, it does seem that his right foot has a tiny bit more power behind it. I've also noticed that under pressure, he has a shot that reminds me of TOTY Lewandowski where the ball goes up and dips back down. I've found that the GKs have trouble defending this shot. With hunter, he has 94 finishing, 94 shot power and those two combined with his 89 composure, he doesn't miss very often at all. He will miss 1 in 15 that should have gone in.
Passing:
This is a category for him that I can't quite wrap my head around. None of his passing numbers stand out at premier. Although, in game, he had no issues making all the passes I needed him to make. He also surprised me with some of his through balls. He most often put the ball right on the nose and enough ahead of the runner for the runner to run onto it but not so far that a supporting defender could sweep it up.
Dribbling:
One word, superb! 92 agility, 91 balance, 89 ball control and 89 dribbling! He easily pulls off skill moves with ease. The easiest comparison to make is with Headliners Ben Yedder but with strength. And that strength combined with his 92 aggression does help him hold defenders off.
Defending:
He's an excellent defender for a striker. He tackles well and can really put pressure on the opponents back line. Would I play him in midfield, no. For two reasons. One, he's a striker and I, unlike most, actually play players in their designed positions. Secondly, with H/H work rates, he won't last the full 90 minutes.
Physical:
He jumps better than his 71 rating suggests. He has actually banged in a few headers for me. 85 stamina at striker with stay forward instructions means he usually lasts a full 90 minutes no problem. His 79 strength paired with his 92 aggression makes him a nightmare to try and get the ball off of him. As I said before, he does hold defenders off well but will lose the occasional 50/50 with guys like Van Dijk.
Conclusion:
Quick, agile, great shooting, great composure and excellent physicals. All of these things make Jota one of, if not the most complete striker in the Premier League. Compare him to any others in the prem and I guarantee he has something over them. The closest comparison would be freeze Mane but I'll take Jota. 1.2 million cheaper, just as fast and agile. equal shooting, equal passing and less predictable runs. Plus, that 5* weak foot is phenomenal!
Jota is by far one of the best STs I've used this FIFA, got him red this morning after finishing Elite 3 last weekend and he has not stopped scoring, I've played everygame in Div 1 with a current skill rating of 2221 and he's nearly scoring a hat trick a game while also getting assists. No matter what Defender he has come up against he has run them riot the whole game.
When I first saw the TOTW I looked at this Jota and thought he was amazing with the 5*WF, 88 pace,84 shooting and 89 dribbling and then saw his price which was a bit steep but he's an 85 rated IF and TOTWS are extremely overpriced anyway I saw this Real Madrid SBC in the La Liga league SBC'S which was a 10k priced squad for a 50k pack untradeable so I opened it and pop comes out Jota 85 which was IMO a MASSIVE W because im a big Liverpool fan and his card looks brilliant as I said earlier.
I got him in red picks as the highest rated card. I just took him for fodder. Then I wanted to complete giroud and thought to myself: why not give him a go for one game... Spoiler: He is my main supersub in WL now.
I dont know what to say but Im in love with this card. There is just something about him that makes him really good. He finished EVERYTHING. Even without finess shot trait, they feel so powerful and precise. I'm pretty sure that I love his 99 agression (with hawk) and obviously the 5*wf. His runs are insane. Always there when you need him. He is so clinical. Also exrather responsive. You dont really notice the average bodytype tooo much.

4*5*
Interceptions and 1v1 felt pretty good with him because of the high agression.
nothing really. Maybe he would be even better with lean bodytype, but he feels great really!
For CAM or CF he could have better passing. Its solid but noting special
After playing 4 rival games and a full weekend league with Jota, I feel like I have a good understanding of what this guy brings to the table.
Got him in a red pick and instantly decided to try him out as he fits my team pretty well.
In 34 games he scored 33 and assisted 31, which is an impressive level of production, as he helped me secure Gold 2 competing against very stacked teams, much better than mine, so I really can't complain much.
As aditional information, im a division 1 player, my squad is the following: GK: Pope IF; CB: baby Maldini and gold Gomez; LB: Reece James FS; RB:Klaiber; CM: Curtis Jones and Fer; Wingers: Van Bergen (yes, Van Bergen and its almost April, I know) and showdown Malen; ST: gold Rashford and this Jota. I played mostly in 4-1-2-1-2 wide with Jones as my cam, Fer as the CDM, Malen on the right and Vhamburguer on the left with the other two chads upfront.
So my opinion is that he is a very solid player and overall a reliable option in any attacking position. I wouldn't say he is a game changer, but at the same time he will not let you down!
The stats he put up this weekend league were very impressive and maybe I should give him a 5 out of 5 stars for that alone, but I honestly feel like he is more of a 8/10 player, he isn't elite but he is very good. Hope this review helps you make a educated decision if you choose to pick him up, stay safe homies.
When it comes to his overall shooting, he is very clinical and reliable finisher, his shooting stats are phenomenal and the 5 star weak foot compensates the lack of shooting traits. The 86 curve helped with his finesse shots and the power shots are always on the money. Also felt like the 89 composure helped him get quality shots off even when under pressure or from weird angles;
His passing feels great in game, his passing stats are well balanced and the 5 star weak foot allows him to distribute the ball at a high level in any direction. Dont sleep on the 77 long pass, maybe the range at which you can launch the lob passes isn't fantastic, but its definitely a tool I used with sucess to get the ball in behind to a nearby teammate;
Dribbling feels pretty smooth and the 4 star skills give you the necessary tools to get past the last defender;
Physical and defensive stats are very unique for a player his size and position. Because of his agressiveness, standing tackle and interception, mixed with his strenght, he feels like a little buldog, shielding the ball well and winning scrappy 50/50s. 85 stamina is also pretty good, which he probably needs since he has high/high workrates, so he didn't let me down in that aspect, but I sub one my STs out most of the time anyway so even if had poopycaca stamina it wouldn't be that big of an issue;
Really good links, Portugal, Liverpool and since he is a CF you can change his position easily to make the chem work;
Value for coins is pretty good, he isn't too expensive and you are getting a good overall package for what you are paying, he is versatile and reliable.
Pace can at times be underwhelming, especially when facing fullbacks that are being used as centerbacks and of course Varane lol. So there are some matchups that you will face regularly in the weekend league that have more sprint speed than Jota, and that can be an issue at times. Because of his weird pace split, you can easily max out the acceleration, but you can only go to 94 sprint speed. Is he slow? No, but his pace isn't elite and that can bite you in the behind when going up against very fast META defenders;
Has absolutely zero aerial game, keep the ball on the ground because even if he wins a header, the accuracy will be ass 9 out of 10 times;
No shooting traits, but this is a minor con because he does have a 5 star week foot;
Is good at everything, but isn't an absolute game changer. For those game changing players you have to pay a pretty penny dont you?
This card is genuinely immense - the best 85 rated i've used in this game and his 5* weak foot is unreal. I won't say too much more as I go into detail in the YT review linked below.
