As I packed TOTS Ederson and had to somehow link Renato Sanches with my PL/Icon Squad, Ruben Dias TOTS was the perfect fit. I am sick and tired of the fullback meta, and prefer to have someone physical as CB who simply destroys strikers with clean tackles. And let me tell you, that's exactly what Ruben Dias does! I am currently playing a 442 with 7 depth, and always seek to actively defend with my CBs, tackle manually and intercept balls. If you're about that playstyle as well, Ruben Dias your guy. He plays true to his stats, his pace is great with a shadow, his defending is all 99s, and his body type and physical stats make him a monster ingame. If you press tackle when he is close to the ball, he wins it, no questions asked. Funny thing is, I noticed some attackers simply collapsed to the ground when he tackled them, no foul given. That happened a lot for me in FIFA 20 with Flashback Boateng, but in FIFA 21 this didn't seem like a thing anymore - except for Ruben Dias now.
Other than that, his positioning and reactions are nice as well. In 10 games, he didn't get caught out of position so far, and he tends to autoblock a lot as soon as he is anywhere near the ball. He even got 2 Man of the match performances, which I never had for a defender before. I hope I get him in my reds, and I can only recommend you try out this beast as well!
Pace, no problems catching up to 95+ pace attackers
Transitioning if you control him, he shifts in front of attackers and destroys them
Standing and sliding tackles both really clean
Bodies even strong attackers
Easily wins headers
Although Ruben is class, Gold Varane will probably still do the job for a lot less coins
I played 30 wl games with him, he was actually class, very very fast, i didnt use varane this year even for one match but i think he is 3x better than varane as it's supposed to be. He wins all of the headers, his stamina is insane he can play 120 minutes easily and still can run very fast, his defensive ability is better than you think, i played against 96 R9, Toty CR7, Neymar, Mbappe but he did his job very well. If you have coins i think he is the best value cb for premier league squads, I also have reece james and mbabu but i can easily say dias is better than all of the full backs. If you try him you wont regret it absolutely.
I was so lucky that I packed Mr. Dias the day PL TOTS came out, and I was ecstatic. I am playing him in a 4-3-1-2 formation in game, where I like my fullbacks to make a lot of offensive runs past the midfield to create situations where I outnumber my opponent. This weekend I played with him for the entire weekend league, and I must say that he is an absolute monster.
In the first few test games I tried to play him without a chemstyle card, and I became a bit sceptical about him, because he felt very heavy to turn around and slow compared to the likes af Mbappe, Neymar, tots Son etc. which probably was caused by his 80 acceleration... But, when I added a Shadow card to him, things started to change. He was like a completely different player. He now outruns AND outmatch them all; Mbappe, R9, Lewandowski toty, you just name the player and he got you covered, which is very essential when my fullbacks are so offensive minded.
In game Ruben Dias seems quite big, which combined with his speed, excellent tackling capabilities, great passing, good dribbling and presence in the arial space, makes him for me one of the very best defenders this year.

Without chemstyle he feels slow and clunky.
Most people would probably be satisfied continuing using Varane and Mendy.
Ruben is a too complete player and with a really cheap price for what he is. He offers speed, strength and reactions that really make him an option to consider for your line of defense.
I don’t normally write reviews but I felt I had too for this card. Ruben Dias is an absolute must for a backline. I had been using his 84 since it came out in combination with John Stones 85 TOTW card. The TOTS was expected as he has been what VVD was to Liverpool a couple years ago. He is a menace to any one or thing that tries to score goals, from pacy strikers, to stronger target man style players, and more. I picked him up for my first weekend league of the year, and let me tell you he did not disappoint. With a Shadow (or Anchor) chem style he is fast enough to keep up with *most* of the speedy players in game, he does not feel like a log falling through molasses and is quite agile and balanced. His defending is something I don’t want to exaggerate, but it is hard not to, he saved me several times this weekend. From sweaty goals, challenging the likes of CR7 in the air for a header, or flat out running over a striker, he is worth every coin I spent. I don’t know about in game mechanics and the “coding" for the game but I found myself in disbelief when the TOTS Dias performed EXACTLY like he does in real life for City. There were times where an auto tackle would launch him into a block or tackle that I didn’t make, but he won the ball or stopped a certain goal every time. There is only one mistake I can recall from this weekend regarding a pass in which he promptly won the ball back and and left a crumpled CAM/ST in his wake. For people who like to play out of the back or when the opponents turn on the pressure, his 4* weak foot also saved me a couple times as well, picking up an assist along the way. As long as you can defend with your CB some of the time (and not just DM’s) he will protect your goal, your kids, your money, or anything else you need.
Defending - Icon Level IMO
Pace - With shadow chem style can keep up with most
Agility/Balance - Won’t get knocked over easily and is quite quick
4* Weak foot/Passing Ability- Not always needed but welcome
With a shadow chemistry style this man is the complete defender. He's changed my defence for the better, I was leaking goals fairly regularly until I signed him and I'm way more solid at the back. He's got that weird trait where no matter how hard he goes into tackles he doesn't give a foul away. A genuine tank in defence. Strong, times his tackles well, positionally sound, keeps up with strikers, never beaten in the air, blocks everything (Like Varane), he's also good on the ball to quickly play yourself out of danger and set up counter attacks.. If you've got the money, get him, seriously.
Dias managed to annoy even me, by how easy he makes tackles look, Mbappe run slow, and Neymar a mere silly clown for skill moves. Anybody he faced, he made tremble outside and inside the box. Unlike many, I find his strength in his compensation for two CBs in place of one. If you have Dias, his defensive positioning is so well that you can make do with a secondary cheap CB like Gomez, or finally use a slower CB that might be your idol. His true strength however, is the psychological pressure he puts on the opponent while boosting yours big time. Ever since PL TOTS came out, this guy haunted me, to the point of replacing PIM Desailly. His stature scares opponent so much, you will encounter unrealistic long shots of desperation as they just cannot enter the box. This is not an exaggeration. Recall the pain of having Neymar dribbling at you with the ball stuck to his cleats? this guy is an unbinding agent. He separates the ball from your opponents attacker like filleting a salmon clean. The cherry on the cake is his 99 stamina, meaning your opponents go through this for 12 minutes of their lives.
