Here we go , so , I have very good luck in the advanced Sbc , and i was managed to buy Messi , As a Barça Fan , I was very hyped and let me tell you , HE'S PURE MAGIC ON THE PITCH , If you have min 30 games in Fifa 21 , you will notice that the weak foot isn't very important this year , also the conbination of dribling an the passing , so , Messi feels like he have 5* weak foot , this happens obviusly for his definition and shot power ,also with the high pass that he have , then , you have the most important traits in the game Outside Foot Shot and Finesse Shot , As i say this is a total diferent game , Now you can actually shot from outside the box , and this with messi if you dont have the rival defense on your front is always gonna be a goal , so , for the price that is rigth now , and if you want a cam or a striker that bang every shot , you need him .

For some reason Messi card this year has been underrated by all the pros and streamer, I really have no explanation for this however, everyone else rides the bandwagon and assumed that he is not as op as his card likes of Cr7, neymar and mbappe! TBH im not a hardcore player like streamer and pros but i consider myself a decent fut player since 2012, maybe they have some logic behind that but here is my take on Messi card. I have tried the top 3 in drafts and had the chance to pack messi untradable this year and to be fair I was indoubt as well since there was no hype on this card similar to the other top3 gold cards, so let me clear things up I swear to god Messi this year is nthg different than all other years! in fact this year he is much much better in my opinion due to the relatively cheaper price compared to other top 3 and adding to this the new agile dribbling that EA introduced this year, I can confidently say no card out perform this card in the agile dribbling (equal to Neymar) due to his body type and high agility, ball control and balance, he literally breaks defenders ankles, all you have to do is use the rb button and booom ur messi changes his direction in 1 mm space and the defender is totally out of play, u can easily beat multiple defenders with this move and pass to an open attacker or simply finish it with Messi's top class finishing. Now comes to the main point that turns players off which is PACE! I got nthg to prove over here but I just want you all to know that i played against top pace defenders and this card outplay them pace wise, he rarely loses the ball due to his great ball control while sprinting.
Just to conclude this card is considered a hidden gem compared to his price, if you checked he switches ingame to striker and I completely build my whole low rated team on this card and he is literally my game changer in division 3, if you are in doubt whether to buy Messi or not due to all the concerns around him just go for it he is worth it. The only issue he may have is stamina but if you don't play team press or constant pressure he will easily play till the 80s and score clutches for you.

Having used Messi this WL and a current DIV 2 player, I have had the pleasure of using this magician for about 50 games or so and contributed to 77 goals and 47 assists. The thing that stands out as soon you touch the ball is his absolute control of the ball. He glides without effort and he is able to turn in whatever direction you please in an instant. Next, has to be his amazing shooting and passing which are near perfect and the best I have used so far especially when paired with 5 star like WF. His pace is good not great (even with a hunter), but with his dribbling, it makes up for the missing sprint speed. For the most part he is a near-perfect player until you get to his physicals... His stamina is an issue, you want to be able to run the whole game and use his abilities all game, but that is not possible, I found myself looking down at his stamina bar way too often. Next, is his strength and this is another issue because in this game it plays a way bigger role than it did FIFA 20 and more often than not, if he fighting for the ball against a more physical player he will lose it. All in all, I feel that he an amazing player with outstanding stats, but his physical stats may be an issue for some and for that I feel that he better than most players, but falls short of the elite that the game currently has to offer (cr7,mbappe,neymar,cruyff,pele...etc). For him to be 5/5 player he simply needs better stamina and slightly better strength.
I packed untradeable Messi in an objectives pack, week 3 after release (I know, outrageous). I followed up my luck with packing untradeable Hazard & De Jong, as well as a shinny Tradable Varane.
My team is I think pretty solid for this stage of the day, however I must say Messi is by far, the stand alone great. Messi plays with the Hunter chemistry style with 10 chemistry as my Right Winger

Messi is not necessarily the fastest winger on the game, and with new special cards being introduced at such a fast rate, I'm sure there will be many other wingers who are significantly faster. However in saying that, Messi is not slow and his positioning really makes up for the slightly lowered pace. I find often that once he has the space between the defender he is hard to catch.
My advise, Do not be off put from this stat.

I cannot fault this stat. Best shot I have seen since FIFA 11 Kaka. His finesse shots are utter outrageous, his volleys are absolute dynamite. He's even scored a couple headers. Struggle to put it into words how good this guys shot is.

His passing is very, very good. However ties me into my biggest dislike about Messi. Being really picky, playing Messi on the right means he is often required to cross with his right foot, although this does not often cause a problem, it has led to him missing crosses on a couple of occasions. It would be nice if he was fully comfortable with his right. However his inside cut ins are undefeated, so this is certainly manageable.
Dribbling: 95
Feels: 10/10
Can't fault this, the ball control and movement is so smooth with Messi. Just looks and feels so clean. I do like my skill moves and this guy is perfect for it. Although he does not have 5*, the skills he can perform are sufficient for any situation and his execution of each move just feels so good.

Who is using Messi to defend? Kind of irrelevant stat however is good at tracking back and has made numerous interceptions that have lead to goal scoring opportunities.
Physical: 65
Feels: 7/10
As far as wingers go he has sufficient physical. Diving into the stats, he doesn't have the highest stamina however he has never been "blown out" for me by the 90th minute. I could potentially see this becoming a problem in Weekend League Extra Time. Messi can hold his own,, his dribbling, passing and positioning often means that strength is not required.

Being really picky 5* / 5* and he's a 10/10. But I would highly advise you give him a go if your thinking about it.
Lionel Messi is one of the greatest of our generation, and some would even say of all time. Known for his mazy dribbling, precise finishing, and winner mentality, he's a grandiose name in football.
In FIFA, he's no different. At 93 rated, he's the highest rated gold card on FIFA, and he has the stats to match.
With 90's for every important technical stat, he's that type of player you dream to buy. I bought him for 770,000 coins at the start of the game, but you can pick him up for as low as 650-750k depending on platform.
Taking a look at his traits, he has almost everything you can wish for, other than technical dribbler oddly enough.
In my current team, I use him as a Right attacking midfielder in a 4-2-3-1, although I've used him as a CAM and ST in a 3-5-2 previously, and he's performed admirably in all positions.
My instructions for him are to stay forward, get into the box for cross and stick to his position. The only 2 that are important here are to keep him forward, and to get into the box for crosses so he always stays in an attacking position
In 181 games I scored 221 goals and got 97 assists. I've used him in a mix of Division 5-3 division rivals, FUT champions and legendary squad battles.
With all that being said, let's get into the review.
PASSING
There's one word to describe his passing, exceptional, and most likely the best in the game. He can make through balls on the ground or over the top, lob to the other side of the field to switch up play or play the tiki taka style that barcelona are so well known for.
With 95 vision, 93 curve and 91 for both long and short passing, only De Bruyne is a better non-icon player.
As weird as it sounds, I don't use his great passing much, and that's because of the next area of his game I'll be talking about: His shooting
SHOOTING
Now, it's good and all having the best pass in the game, but his shooting is even more impressive. With 95 finishing, 94 long shots and 93 positioning, he already has endgame stats and he has the performances to match.
Inside the box, outside the box, weak foot or not, he's got it. He's also got 96 composure so he can finish even in the toughest scenarios. I can honestly say he's missed maybe 10 easy shots in the whole time I've had him, and the rest have gone in or seriously challenged the keeper.
Another thing to note is that he's in the right place at the right time way more often as a right CAM compared to anywhere else. His positioning as a central CAM and striker were nothing more than okay, but as a right CAM, I score significantly more with him and gives him more chance to flex his dribbling prowess.
DRIBBLING
Moving onto his dribbling, and I can't run out of superlatives for how well he can turn defenders into mincemeat. He doesn't have 5 star skills, but his agility , balance and dribbling all being above 90 means that he's so tough to tackle.
Additionally, he has little additional movements and animations that I believe only icons have which makes his dribbling even more silky. While being 5'7 makes him less of an aerial threat, it makes him much more agile and makes his centre of gravity perfect for his runs.
PHYSICAL
His physical definitely surprised me. He's only got 72 stamina and 69 strength, but he usually lasts the full 90 and can shrug off most fullbacks.
The only thing I can think of here is that he has 95 balance, but he's unnaturally strong for me. I also find that the ball sticks to him really well, kind of like how Ben Yedder does for some.
PACE
Now his pace is again an interesting one. Sometimes he feels lightning fast, sprinting past players like Semedo and Varane, but at other times he's outpaced by others like Ramos and Van Dijk.
Overall, the only way I can rate this is inconsistent.
CONCLUSION
Now to close off, there's a reason I haven't put any alternate players. If you want Messi, you buy him. If you want someone like him, you won't be able to find it.
His output at Right Attacking Mid is just as good as my Joao Felix at striker, whereas his partner on the left has less than half that.
I love him, and unless things change, he's in my team until the end.
Messi is a player that I've always liked before the patch comes out, but this year wasn't the case. Before the patch, Messi was nearly un-usable for me and I was close ro rage-quick selling him. But I was patient and waited until the new patch to try him again. This post-patch Messi is just ridiculous at the centre CAM position. His positioning is on point, passes are flawless (However, for some reason he sucks at corners) and his shooting with his left is perfect. Longshots in this new meta are very important, and his guy might have the best finesse long shots for a gold card. I highly recommend everyone giving him a try at CAM because he won't let you down.
Okay so here goes, I have to preface this review by the fact I got the luckiest I ever have with a pack opening playing Ultimate Team in 10 years. I packed Messi in a Two Player Pack as an untradeable, I realise this means that on the "value for coins" section I cannot give much info as I did not have to pay and so I'm unsure if he is worth it. What I can say though is that he took me from being a steady Div 4 player to Div 1 at points singlehandedly.
I mainly used him as CAM in a 4231 formation or as a ST in a 4222 or 442 with the False 9 instruction on, as with Messi IRL he plays between lines and that's why he can be so effective. For me, he was Mr Reliable, the player I could call on in any game that would produce that magic to make a difference, whether: a killer ball through, a great strike, a mesmeric dribble or a penetrating run. He is surprisingly amazing at attacking positioning and running, his movement pulls defenders and catches them out a lot and so is always making things happen directly or indirectly. His record for me speaks for itself, I have played with him on SB Legendary, Rivals Div 4 to 1 and Champs, between all these he is scoring over 2 goals a game with a record of 177 goals in 87 games.
Obviously, the card needed a pace boost to compete in this game, its begrudging but something we have to bear, and the first thought most would have is Hunter obviously. I chose to put a Catalyst on for a few reasons: Firstly, his finishing and longshots are 95 and 94 respectively and thus it feels a waste to me (especially as he gets less out of that chem style than a Catalyst). Secondly, the Catalyst means his lowest passing stat is 95 (vision) which is just criminal to be honest, as the main focal point of attack being able to split defences with passes out wide or to my ST I could effectively retain possession and cause all sorts of problems. A lot of people naturally use their CDM's to manually cut your passing lanes, Messi can largely ignore this due to his upgrade in passing.
His shooting is also incredible, as noted above, and I have found his 4* WF is largely ignorable, there is a stray shot on average I would say 1 in 5 games due to it. Otherwise, my only advice on it would be to power shot only with the right foot and then power and finesse on his left.
Speed - his size and dribbling ability is uncanny and he can shrug off and ignore far larger players who should really be able to out-strength him off the ball. Otherwise, it is rare a player can actually catch him up once he is through and you can use his tight dribbling and skills to round players when required.
Shooting - incredible ability inside and out of the box, can score and type of goal you want really. I tended to score from in the box, this mainly being due to my playstyle and his agility allowing him to find that crucial space in the box.
Passing - he is everything I want in someone who can pass, the Catalyst has paid off unbelievably and I wouldn't even consider using a Hunter on him frankly. He makes those passes that just look effortless and due to his top tier ability to distribute he makes passes at a higher quality than expected.
Mr Reliable - if I struggled in any game, whether they be good opposition, drop back tactics or locking up, I could always rely on him to find the space, beat a player 1 on 1 etc. He is the key that unlocks a team for me or gets the goal alone and wins me the game.
Stamina - 72 looks poor, I never found him to have an issue with stamina though throughout a game, even the longer 120-minute ones. He's still able to run and dribble, causing opposition defences issues regardless. Otherwise, as I used him as the pass master, he is fine to be on the lower end as you can utilise him as the players that breaks the opposition down, he is a constant threat on the ball. I would advise either a higher stamina ST or subbing a fresher ST on late-game to abuse his passing when needed in tight games.
It's not quite a con but this seems the appropriate place to say - I cannot say he is value for coins or not having not actually paid for him. However, if knowing what I do now would I pay this much to buy him then yes. No one in my team matches the quality and consistency of Messi and he is literally the lynchpin in my entire team for me. I know that until potentially the end of the games cycle I will not be purchasing another RW in the game, every team will have to factor in Messi for me.
Defence - Obviously at his height and stature he is not a defensively suited player, however he really isn't someone who should ever be engaged in that. Otherwise he is nippy and can harass your opponents defenders on the ball so that's as close to defensive ability he gets.
Many people have been talking about problems of Messi, saying he's not meta because of his height, stamina, and/or pace. But for me, playing him at cam in a 4 triple 2 formation has been phenomenal for me. He's the best in every attacking stat going from shooting, passing and dribbling. His pace has not been a problem for me having 91 acceleration but only 80 sprint speed, this means he is way better in the middle, playing positions like cf and cam. I tried him in a 4-2-3-1, although he was decent, he wasn't involved in the attack much and you want players like Messi to bang you in goals and create chances. He scored 52 goals in 66 games with 34 assists which is a lot of goals for a cam.
Ok, everyone knows that this Messi chap is a pretty decent footballer and so his card should be pretty good aswell, and is it ever!
This is my first year using Messi in FUT so I can't really compare him to previous years. I had my doubts over whether he would be that good since the popular players this year are the really quick players like Mbappe or Neymar. However if you can use him correctly, he is simply unstoppable.
Whilst he may not be quick enough to play on the wing, if you can move him into the middle then enjoy the easy wins from here on out. He can do pretty much whatever you want, be it working to create a really intricate goal with his close control and incredible vision, or simply shooting from long range when the opponent is really deep. If Messi is involved in the attack you're pretty much guarenteed a goal at the end of it.
Whilst you may think that the players you currently have are doing really well for you, I promise you Messi will do better.

This WL i build a new Team and wanted to try Messi out. I heard a lot that Messi isnt that nice in this FIFA but im Suprised, im Playing Messi as my 2nd Striker with Aubameyang and i wanted him to give Assist to Score goals or Dribble past Defender & after 20 WL Games im very suprised he is just insane Messi Scores from everywhere his Shooting is amazing and his Speed with Hunter is really good too. The only thing that i dont like on him is his Stamina, after 90 min he is death.
But he has as Striker everything: good pace, deadly Shooting with the Left and Right food, insane Passing, very nice Dribbling.
I just can say, try him as Striker out, it makes fun.
