I packed an untradeable Marcelo and Diego Carlos so I decided to put him into my team and sell my Alaba and Alphonso Davies. I play a mix of online and squad battles and have around 40-50 games with him at this point, he is very solid as a LB and I have shadow on him to boost his pace and defending which is noticeably better with the chem style on. Having used Davies, Reguilon, Telles and some others I think Marcelo is just as good if not better than all of them. I find CB's more important this FIFA anyway but as a full back he definitely does the job.
I use stay back when attacking, but when he does go up his biggest strength is dribbling - the 5 star skills and his high agility make him very hard to tackle and his pass is good enough to feed through my forwards. His agility and balance make him a great defender for me, his pace may lack if you don't have shadow on but in the 1 vs. 1 situations that agility allows him to turn on the spot and tackle most players.
He's cheap, Brazilian and easy to get into your squad. If you don't want to spend too much on a LB he is a perfect fit.
Dribbling
Slide and stand tackle
Long Passing
Stamina could be a bit more so I can take him forward
While I watching Harry Hesketh's RTG, he mentioned putting Marcelo at CDM and immediately I was intrigued at the concept. As soon as I finished watching the video I bought a Marcelo with Shadow and plopped him in at CDM alongside Laimer in my 4-2-3-1 tactic; safe to say he didn't disappoint. When it comes to pace he's nothing to scoff at; with a Shadow he's able to zip around the field and intercept incoming passes. This leads me onto his defending, as you may have noticed with FIFA 21, players when not controlled, often just stare at the ball. This almost never applies with Marcelo, constantly I find myself being a dumbass and pressuring attackers too far leaving open passes and routinely Marcelo swoops in and bails me out. When usering him, he's able to switch directions very quickly and like most defenders, also has that magnet effect that leads him to the ball. Continuing on with his passing, simply he finds the target and gets the ball to them, doesn't do anything too spectacular. With the Pros mentioned prior, you can find them in most of the top CDMS but what really sets Marcelo apart is the dribbling. Often when I vs aggressive players who look to immediately pressure the ball handler, Marcelo sways from the norm of the generally clunky CDM and absolutely tears apart at these players. Either through the over-responsive left stick dribbling or with the assistance of his 5 star skills, it's not easy to get the ball from this man. When it comes to cons there's nothing too stand out, with the exception of shooting which even then is pretty damn good for his position. Physical wise, they're nothing overtly bad or good. Workrates don't really affect him either, doesn't push to far forward on offense.
TL;DR - Good player pls buy <3
If you're curious about my initial squad and what I run in game, here they are
Initial - https://www.futbin.com/21/squad/1920292
In-Game - https://www.futbin.com/21/squad/1922171
> Fast, Quick and Agile
> Good Defender
> Great Dribbled
> Decent Passer
Nothing standout
(Maybe shooting but not needed in CDM, regarding Physicals he doesn't feel weak and doesn't seem to tire as much as he should)
Everyone I asked told me Marcelo was trash, and to get any other lb, just not Marcelo. I got him anyways, and wow I don't regret it. He can dribble his way past any defenders, his 5 star skills might have something to do with that, and he has more pace than it seems, and can keep up with nearly every winger i come across. His defending is out of this world too, making every tackle i want him too, and intercepting the ball without me even trying to. He can pass from anywhere, dribble past anything, and even has a decent shot on him. The only thing I would say was wrong with him was his size, meaning he'd lose most headers. This doesn't mean much though, since he'd dispossess them seconds later. This is purely my perrsonal opinion but, Marcelo is better than Mendy, Telles and every other lb i've used.
He excels in anything you want him to, an absolute beast of a player.
As an attacking lwb, he will absolutely ruin any opposing wing-back, and as a defensive lcb, he will stop even the best of players.
Height means jumping is not great, but he doesn't get pushed off the ball easily.
