FUTBIN Player Review

Gabriel Jesus

Round 2 and we are back with another OP game-changer in the holy man himself, Gabriel Jesus.  This review has just been made even better by the fact that you can actually get your hands on this guy now; the recent price range fixes have brought some calm to the chaos and we can put the snipers away, for now.  I was fortunate enough to have packed Jesus early on and so he quickly became the focal point for my first squad of FIFA 21… his combination of pace, dribbling and shooting the standout traits.  Much like Ansu Fati, I felt like the FINISHER chemistry style was the one, and the boost to 99 FINISHING was a welcome addition.  Jesus slotted in nicely alongside Fati as the two combined brilliantly as the strikers in my 4-4-2 formation.  In the end, Jesus worked miracles throughout my rivals journey in the following squad:

Overall

Rating: 8.6/10
Pace Rating: 9.2/10
Dribbling Rating: 9.3/10
Shooting Rating: 8.7/10
Passing Rating: 7/10
Physical Rating: 7/10
Defending Rating: N/A

Still trying to be ultra-careful with my ratings as I try to wade through the quagmire of new and interesting players available this FIFA; while at the same time trying to determine the META and how these cards will perform in the near future.  For now what I do know is that Jesus outperformed Ansu Fati overall and therefore gets a +1 rating overall.  The cards were actually quite similar, but Jesus just managed to tip the Spaniard after some excellent performances once I entered the difficult Division Rivals matches in Division 2.

Main Statistic - Dribbling

Dribbling Rating: 9.3/10

While the game is still in the early stages, it is already apparent that dribbling… and especially close control drilling… is on another level.  In fact, I have witnessed numerous calls on Twitter for a nerf to the close control dribbling already… and we are literally hours into the game.  Regardless of the overreactions, I can’t deny that dribbling in this FIFA is imperative and can really open up the spaces around the box.  Some of the turns that Jesus pulled off were nothing short of brilliance and his ability to create goals a key part of my overall rating.

Main Attribute - Heading

Height: 5’9 (175cm) - 78 JUMPING - 77 HEADING ACCURACY

None of these numbers jump out at me as incredible or even noteworthy… in fact they are only noteworthy in how insignificant they are.  Yet, this card is INSANE in the air.  Yes, heading is well and truly back in this FIFA and the right crosses are rewarded time and time again (as they should be)... and for some reason, this card got on the end of these crosses constantly throughout the 15 matches and this has continued in the matches since.  Honestly, I swear I have scored more header goals with Jesus off of corners then I did with all of my players combined in FIFA 20.  Yes, this is a trend… but Jesus seems to capitalize on it more than the other cards in my squad.

Value/Coins & Good vs. Bad

Value/Coins Rating: 5/5
Good vs Bad Rating: 4/5

Even with the price range increase to 90k, Jesus continues to hover around the 70k mark and truly seems like a good value striker to me.  Despite having lower pace than Ansu Fati, I consistently noticed that he seemed and felt faster.  A large part of this comes down (I think, still learning the game of course) to his 92 POSITIONING and the fantastic runs he would pick up and the space he would create.  I always felt that if I kept the ball in the right positions for long enough that Jesus would eventually make something happen… and for the most part this trust was rewarded.

While not quite as weak as Fati, this card is no powerhouse and his strength was an issue and continues to be so far in my experience.  His passing is similarly poor and requires a real magician (I am loving Thiago) pulling the strings to play him into the right spaces to work his magic.  Finally, the 3 STAR WEAK FOOT is actually a bit of a problem with this card.  While Jesus is absolutely sublime on his right foot and his 99 FINISHING & 91 SHOT POWER was a large contributor to his 28 goals. On the left, it is a completely different story and this cost me quite a few additional tallies in only 15 matches.

Closing Words

While this card doesn’t quite walk on water, Jesus does make you believe that there are goals coming each match you trust him to lead the line.  I can not hide the fact that the weak foot was a disappointing reality … but at the same time is probably the reason that this card is not extinct again at 90k.  Honestly though, I can live with this issue and continue to use Jesus for all of the positives that outweigh his shortcomings.  I think Jesus will continue to be a fantastic option early on in the game as people build stronger squads, gain rewards, and build those first Weekend League armies.  In the end, I think you can do a lot worse than putting your faith in Gabriel Jesus… Dribbling. Positioning. Goals.  What more can you ask for?  Cheers for reading.

Too Good
By FishDish07, 03-10-2020

This man scores 90 percent of the shots you give to him, i got him in my first two player pack and used him ever since. He is rapid, and with agile dribbling breezes past people, he is extinct at 50k at the moment but he is meta and worth every penny.

-Scores from anywhere

-Rapid

-Agile dribbling is too good with him

OP Striker...
By BestTraderOfYourTrust, 12-10-2020

bought him to link alex teixeira (also reviewed) and first owner fabinho as my first more expensive card for my starterteam. first i didnt find him good: he was too slow despite hunter and his passing was terrible

,but then i got along better with him, he scored nice goals passes arrived and he outpaces defenders. i dont know what happened but now hes my number one striker with teixeira and both destroy enemies and its fun to play with them together.

  • pace
  • clinical finishing
  • dribbling, except agility and balance
  • enough stamina
  • passing even if he has more assists than goals, he doesnt get easy passes through the defence
  • nothing else

meta striker
By kevaindustries, 12-10-2020

this guy is AMAZING. His agility and balance are so great you will pas your defenders easily. The pace is fine, he is as fast with the ball as without. I have also used Martial but Jesus is far better. Last year he missed quite some changes for me but this year he finish everything with his right foot. the only downside about this card is his 3 star weakfoot. He will score the easy goals but dont expect miracles from his left foot. So far he scored 40 goals in 16 games in Division 1, i use him as a solo striker with dybala in a hybrid behind him. His high stamina will make him run for the whole game.

Gabby Jesus (Best striker so far this year!)
By mmgunners11, 22-10-2020

Oh My God. Probably the best striker I've used all year, Tried Werner, Firmino and Martial, and he tops them all. Not saying they are bad players at all, but this Jesus card is in another league. He scores for fun in the division I am in which is top end Division 4, Will 100% be using him in weekend league next weekend. In this game he is far beyond the idea of a "meta" player, he is incredible. Definitely worth trying, use a hunter, play him as a solo striker, and my god, you have your self a player that will finish almost everything. I mean it.

  • Shooting (Specifically finishing, go towards the goal and press shoot, it will most likely go in, he scores for fun)
  • Dribbling! Oh my, what a beautiful dribbler, with base stats of 91 Agility and 90 Balance, he dribbles past pretty much anyone with ease, including Van dijk.
  • Passing, To my surprise he actually can pass the bass, he hasn't messed up a simple pass for me, at first looking at his card it worried me, but to be honest it really surprised me.
  • Pace, with hunter, easily has enough pace to destroy any defender in a pace battle, combine him with Double R1 speed boosts and heavy touches and you'll surf past every defender.
  • Physical, Oh my, surprised me but in game he does not at all feel like he has 65 strength, if a defender attempts to push him off the ball he keeps it, not once has I seen him fail in a physical battle
  • Defending, he isn't going to be possible to have in your back line, sorry ;)

Best striker for his rating and price
By Robhey, 26-01-2021

I bought him relative early in the game for 56k and he is still worth that price even if he is only around 5k atm. He is still so good at at this stage in the game. His dribbling is the best for his rating, no need too boost that. You can easilly dribble past your defenders and shoot. His pace and his shooting is just not perfect but still very good. He will still be catched against fast defenders if you don't time it right but if you time your run good he is fast enough to hold them back. His shooting is good, you can score with him from every angel you want, i dont really notice his 3 star wf. His shooting isn't 99 so he wont score everything but if you aim good and the oppents keeper doesn't move or does something unrealistic he will score. Also if you want to chip the goalkeeper or do a volley you can count on him. His shotpower can be a bit better but its alright. I gave him a 8/10 for shooting because its not 99 like toty mbappe, but for his rating and price its really 10/10. His passing can be a bit better however if the pass isn't that difficult he will make it. The last 60 games I played with him in a 442 with mid Socrates as ST partner and they both get a lot of assists so he will do the job. If you want to make long trough balls he wont be the best option but sometimes it works, you can make some nice goals with some short passing between him and somebody else. His physicality is good enough, nothing really remarkable, he won't score a lot of headers or knock the opponents down, it's just what you would expect from him. You can finish the game with him or sub him out, your own choice.

Conclusion: If you want a cheap striker just take him and you got a striker worth much more then 5k. Best striker for his rating and price, you can't go wrong with him.
