Knowing that i cant afford Mendy i went for a cheaper option. I dont regret doing that. Alba is a beast he helps my defense and forwards a lot. Makes a lot of good tackles he makes a lot of good runs to make crosses. He is very quick to get back on defense. Only problem im really having is the strenght and his height for headers. He gets bodied easily and sometimes doesnt reach for the headers and the ball goes trough. I would recommend him if you cant afford Mendy.
Defending Awareness is not the best.
Height for headers
I have used Mendy before and I can guarrantee you, Mendy is only better in his height and strength attributes and his 5 star WF of course. But aside from that, I don't see the need to put in a extra 80k for Mendy (as of this moment) when you can get Alba for 16k. He is so agile on the ball, put a anchor on him and its like he has Alphonso Davies pace, also when using tactics such as drop back, this guy will (with the right controls) 9/10 times fight for the ball and succesfully return it, also when a corner fails and the ball goes to him outside the box, he is so agile he goes through 2-3 defenders minimal and can score alot of goals.
- Agility and Balance
- Can be used as LW or ST (especially with his stamina) in last resorts
Jordi Alba suffered from the uprise of Ferland Mendy in LaLiga. Mendy is not only impressing with his stats and ingame presents but also with his perfekt link to Varane which is the best option for a LaLiga sqaud. Nonetheless Alba is still among the best Fullbacks in the game. He is performing better in game rather than showing in his stats. He is still fast (88 pace) and can keep up with the fastest Wingers in the game. His physicality and defenfensive skills are top notch. I wittnessed that players who are faster (Salah, Adama) and players who are Stronger (Bale, Adama) had a hard time passing Alba. Overall Alba is more than able to compete with Mendy and is way cheeper. The only downtake alba has are his headers which are not that important for a Fullback.
Fast / Strong Defense / Movement / Great Stamina
This guy doesn't get talked about much this Fifa due to a certain French LaLiga LB, but in my opinion he offers a lot more than Mendy.
Defensively, you can argue Mendy is slightly better, but only due to his phyisicality. From my experience Alba often makes the crucial tackle and never seems to give fouls away.
However where Alba really shines is going forward. He's the best ball playing LB in the game and can basically play as a second winger which is so tough to defend against. There are very few LB in the game that have the close control and dribbling ability that he has, never mind his excellent all-round passing.
I fail to see why Mendy is seen as the better LB when he can't really offer anything going forward other than pace down the wing, which I admit is very useful but not when he's 1 on 1 against their RB. I'll be sticking with Alba for the time-being, the cheaper and frankly better of the two.
Link-up Play going forward,
