Was looking for a LW that can play ST, considering i wanted to fit my RB Nkunku in the squad, Mid Stoichkov looked like the best choice, waited 2 weeks to pick him up for the right price to get a good profit if he does not play well, but this guy is staying in my club for long now. I picked him during black friday panic at 590000 on PC (currently selling for 650K+ atleast), and for that money he is worth it for sure.
In-Game Formation: 41212(2): Alisson / IF Theo, Gold Varane, RB Rudiger, RB Trent / Gold Kante / RB Nkunku, Gold De Bruyne / RTTK Silva / SIF Salah, Stoichkov. Played him at RST after trying him at LST for some time, and that is much better for me.
Performance:
Weekend League - 18 Games (12-6), 28 Goals, 8 Assists (Gave away last 2 wins so not counting that)
I got him when he had a hunter on and played the whole weekend league with that, but then switched to hawk and he is far better, you might think that he has better stats in WL, but 3-4 guys in rivals quit when they went 2-3 goals down, where as in quite a few games i scored 5+ goals in WL. Overall he is much better for me with a hawk, he does not feel rapid so pace difference does not hurt very much, the long shot boost makes his shooting unreal, and the physical difference does not help quite a lot but he does compete for the ball against meta defenders.
Shooting (10/10):
This is his best attribute by far which makes him this good. With a hawk, he just scores from anywhere, near post, far post, finesse shots all just go in even if they are mistimed. His shot power is just perfect, even if he does not find the top corners, his shot power makes his long shots go in easily as the keeper has to dive early so he cant really do anything. He is quite good in shooting when the defence is packed as well, main reason is because he shoots so quickly with power, the defence and goalie do not have time to do anything if he finds the gap bw defenders. Finesses are good, wont go in the top bins, sometimes they go wide, but usually go in due to the power. The attack positioning and finishing is top notch as well, finds himself free often in the box, and one touch finishes go in everytime from driven passes, beats the goalkeeper from tight angles as well somehow. His shooting overall is better than SIF Salah for me.
The 3* WF is only weakness here, his WF is just average, he can score bangers from WF but you have to time and place them very well, otherwise the accuracy is much lower than the left, scoring from tight angles is hard, but when near the goal or in 1v1s he does the job almost everytime. Overall his WF is much better than that of SIF Salah, but yeah considering how good his left foot is, the right one doesnt come close.
Pace (9/10):
95 pace with hawk and 99 with hunter, but does not feel explosively fast in game, he does not outpace defenders with ease, but if he is even slightly ahead of them, they cant catch him, with great physicals and shooting, just sprint ahead and shoot, and it will end up in the back. He isnt an ideal get in behind player given his body type, but he gets behind very often due to his attack positioning even with mixed attack instructions.
Dribbling (8/10):
His dribbling is overall nice, nothing special like neymar or vini, but effective in some situations, ineffective in some. He isnt a ball carrier, who can burst forward with the ball and skip past them with them, his dribbling forward while sprinting is fast but takes heavy touches making it ineffective. It is much better without sprint though, his main strengths are fast feet against pressing and quick turns in all directions, if the opponent rushes to him, he can turn an beat them, also hold them very well due to high physicals, but really cant do much with those turns if the opponent defends well, although I cannot use skill moves and he is 4*, so you can use that, but does not work for me. His 180 turns are very nice and fast, and when the goal is on his back, a turn and onet time shot is always a goal, it is too fast to anticipate. He is decent in tight areas, but cant do much. Overall would like to give a 9 but probably there might be better dribblers, and since I recently used him it feels biased, so giving an 8.
Passing (9/10):
Passing is sharp, having tried lobbed through balls, driven passes, through balls, crosses, they are plain but perfect, the only problem is that they are not special like trent or KDB, that shape uniquely to somehow reach the teammate at a perfect angle.
Physicality (9/10):
He does not throw the defenders away, but is able to maintain speed and balance when under pressure from back/sides, even against high physical defenders. The best part is he is able to shoot so fast and with so much power even when under pressure, makes him a threat whenever there are gaps between the defence, he does not really need to get in behind to score, he has scored goals for me when he was almost squeezed between two defenders, from range and hard angles as well, a complete beast.
Overall:
One of the most balanced STs you can have, use mixed attack instruction on him, he drops and makes some great passes and through balls to open up the defence, he builds up well and complements and responds well to one touch passes, and also takes up positions where he gets a lot of space to find time on the ball, pass, dribble or shoot, and perfect in terms of effectiveness in every aspect.
Though he does require players that can carry the ball in the final third, and dribble with close control, who can play good in very tight spaces - for example, i have RB Nkunku, RTTK Silva, and Salah for that.
Value for coins:
Looking at all attacking icons near his price, in terms of stats he is the best choice, take Henry for example, who is 200K+ more than him, and compare the two. I used Mid Suker, Baby Suker, Mid Van Basten, Mid Shevchenko, Mid RVP and this guy is so much better. Considering the performance of other icons, i really didnt expect him to do better than SIF Salah (who is ~200K cheaper than stoichkov), as usually icons are way expensive than value, but he definately outperformed Salah(who did very well too - 23 Goals, 23 assists in 28 games), so if you are looking for an icon he is the one.
