Chelsea's dynamo (Pedro)
By xAmT202, 05-10-2021

What a player.

This man was amazing at Chelsea and it is so good to see him have such a great flashback now too. He is an extremely fun card and I had him on full chemistry with a perfect link to Luis Alberto- who is awful but decently usable. He feels amazing in game, with a dribbling ability that can rival anyone else. I played him at CAM in a 4-1-2-1-2(2) with him supplying (much rather scoring) Malen and Sane. Pedro is one of those players that can be the game-changer, and win you the game in the dying minutes. In the box, he is incredibly hard to stop with his base ball control keeping the ball extremely close to him, making sure that no one can tackle him. His finishing is also impeccable, but I have only taken shots with him inside the box- I'm not one to normally take finesses outside the box but I'm sure with his curve and the trait, he'll do wonders. His pace was a delight for me and I didn't mind the sprint speed- but the acceleration was absolutely amazing! He blitzed past anyone and even left Phonzy for dead... I sold my IF Vinicius Jr to fit him in and I don't regret it, especially with the longevity of the card as i'm sure it will be able to be used for a long time. His price tag seems somewhat reasonable and in my opinion an absolute steal for the player he is.

Pedro will stay in my team for a while and will be someone I'd put in my (hopefully) future Chelsea past and present team.

Acceleration (Great for running fake shots or simply trying to run past an opponent after just receiving the ball)

Dribbling (Agility, Balance, Ball Control, Composure)

Finishing

Passing (Short, Curve)

5* Weak Foot

Strength

Sprint Speed (didn't feel it too much imo, i was using him at CAM)

(?) Cheaper alternative (Insigne)

(?) LInks (mainly strong ones)

(?) Workrates (Wasn't a problem for me, but may be for those who play on the wing etc.)

Very good player
By StanSammlkangas, 05-10-2021

I decided to complete Pedro for use in future Chelsea PnP squads, because he fit my team perfectly, and because I thought he fit certain aspects of the early game meta (which I'll get into further). He plays LCAM in the 4222 for me with a hunter chem style. Only instructions on him are get into box for cross. He is much better than I expected, lets get into why! To me, he's a cross between Insigne, Mertens and Mkhitaryan, 3 cards I have really enjoyed so far in the early game, and combines the OP things about them to make a great card.

Pace: His acceleration is fantastic (it's 99, with a hunter). His sprint speed is only 77 (87 with a hunter), which might be off-putting to some but it's fake news. He's definitely quick. He's not going to destroy people with his pace but he's still fast enough when you get away from a defender that he can stay away.

Dribbling: one thing I find very OP early on is good left stick dribbling and Pedro definitely provides this (probably due to his great body type). I find people sit very deep this year with a lot of men in their box so having someone with good left stick dribbling is pretty crucial to opening up chances. You can sit down immobile defenders and create a shot on either foot with left foot dribbling (more on that later as well). Pedro's left stick dribbling is on level with Mertens and Insigne, 2 very little guys. He also has 4 star skills, which is sufficient at this point (I dont find skill moves are as essential as last year, 5 star skillers are a luxury, not a necessity at this point). With those 4 star skills, you can pull off a very nasty la croqueta. Pedro has an animation where if you do a La Croqueta close to an opponent and it is partially blocked when you go around him, he'll nutmeg them and you can keep on going. His dribbling overall seems very sticky and tackle resistant.

Shooting: An area where this card truly shines. He's got a ton of shot power, he honestly fires rockets. And this is important given how much better GKs are this year. If you fire a shot with Pedro, there's a pretty good chance it's going in even if the goalie gets a hand on it. He just blows it right by them. A hint: fire it near post. His finesse shots are also great, which is to be expected with the finesse shot trait. He also has the outside foot shot trait which is useful. But, most importantly, he has a 5* WF like Mkhitaryan which in combination with the left stick dribbling makes him lethal in this year's game. You can just dribble around in the box until you create an opening or receive a pass and spin off a defender either way and bang it in on either foot.

Passing: Good passing is crucial in this game. Good, patient, build up play followed by devastating final passes create goals this year so you can't be having guys who misplace passes all the time. Pedro will make the passes you need him to from the CAM position.

Defending: not much to say here, he will intercept the ball and can make a few tackles.

Physical: He's a little guy but he's way more solid than Mertens and Insigne. A big defender will push him off easily but he can hold off most full backs. 84 Stamina on an attacker is really nice at this stage of the game.

Work rates/Positioning: I usually don't like M/M but they don't bother me much on this card because he will drop into the midfield to pick up the ball and help you in the build up, and the "get into box for cross" instructions will lead to some unreal runs into the box where you can find him for an easy goal.

Final advice: Use him as a central or wide CAM. He's probably just a bit too slow to be broken as a winger.

-Shot power

-Left stick/dribbling and WF combo

-Acceleration

-Stickiness

-Attacking runs

-La croqueta and other dribbling animations

-5 star skills would be a nice luxury.

-H/M work rates would also be lovely.

-Sprint speed is limiting if you want to use him as a straight winger.

Flashback Pedro!
By MrSighOn, 06-10-2021

FIFA 22 is here and the start to many new RTG's. This year I thought about giving it a go but only using past and present Chelsea players! After getting my team assembled fairly quickly in the series, it was just a waiting game until the first SBC or big player buy came along. Lo and behold I login and see it.. "Flashback Predo"! My prayers have been answered. I did the SBC quicker than Robben cutting back inside and finessing it far corner. Had a bit of a roller coaster with him in the 3 rivals game I played for the review I have posted over on YouTube.

Taking a look at the card on paper.. he looks cracked! Solid pace, good shooting and agility stats and that sweet sweet finesse shot trait. (Which seems to be proving very effective this year) I used the FINISHER chemstyle on him to further improve that finishing and positioning and max out on the agility/balance stats which until now have been OH SO important! Diving into the rivals game, the role I had him play which was a winger - it became apparent the acceleration is handy to burst away early when committing a through ball.. but gets caught up upon very quickly. He played in the LW spot in my 3421 formation with LUKAKU as the long striker and ZIYECH as my RW. Cutting back inside on his RIGHT FOOT not including the fact he has 5* WEAK FOOT and 4* SKILLS.. is an absolute DREAM.

After the games finished, I instantly put a HUNTER chem style on him to help that pace to break away from defenders as a winger, but I can see the FINISHER chem style being perfect as a CF/ST. I'd like to re test him again on 10 chem when I get more icons in my team (Lampard/Ballck/Drogba etc) That being said.. his gameplay was flawless even on 7/8 chem. The MEDIUM/MEDIUM work rates did worry me initially.. but all was forgotten when he was constantly making runs through.

To conclude: He is a great card if like me, you are drafting around Chelsea P&P players. His ability to cut back inside and finesse is amazing and his finishing on the most part is exactly what you need inside the box. He lacks the strength and muscle at times which can cause a problem when breaking through. If you are thinking of doing him due to being interested in him, with player prices being fairly cheap.. I'd say go for it! If you need to re shape and sell multiple players in your team to make it work.. I'd probably advise against it! He is for sure no neymar, but at 1/10th of the price on xbox.. what do you expect?

Insane Card
By NZCrusader1, 09-10-2021

This Pedro card is very good in game. When the card first game out i was slightly worried about the pace split it has and i decided i wouldn't do it. After packing a few duplicate untradeable walkouts i decided to do it and my god i'm thankful i did. His acceleration + his agility and balance is what makes this card one of the best CAMs in the game, his ability to quickly accelerate out of skill moves always catches people off guard as he is gone with a second, he finesse shots are crazy (As are all finesses this FIFA) but i think after a patch on finesse shots i think his will be still extremely good. Pedro's passing is also second to none with the maestro chemistry style it really helps with this. His 5 star weak foot is so beneficial to have his locker when needed. Even though his sprint speed is at 77, playing him at a central CAM this will not be an issue as acceleration is so much more important for central CAM to easily get away from midfielders and defenders

If you did this card, well done. Great choice

Pedro: Between The Lines
By michaelcort93, 13-10-2021

One thing I like to do when the game releases is to go and look at the cards of some low rated former stars who may be in line to get a flashback or moments card. There are usually some hidden gems in there. But one player who stood out to me was Pedro. Being a 78 rated CF with 4* 5* and some quite nice dribbling stats already it was clear he would be a fun card to see upgraded and use for a while. So imagine my surprise when he appears as the first flashback of the year!

So how is Pedro in game? Well as aforementioned he already possesses some key attributes in his favor. Chief among which are his body type, WF/SM combo and key dribbling base stats. These are all present and, in the case of the dribbling stats. improved. The pace, shooting and stamina boosts are key towards his style of play here. Unfortunately he is a LW and not tremendously suited to that role so will need to be moved central in game to realize his full potential. He performs best as either a central or narrow left/right bombardier. Owing to his fantastically sticky feet and sharp turning ability he is excellent at carving past heavier and more clumsy centre backs. His acceleration is best utilized in short bursts through a back line. I would not recommend long straight runs with Pedro as this inhibits his strengths. He is not a fast player but more of an agile player. Think less samurai sword and more scalpel. What Pedro offers is an ability to create something out of nothing. This brings us on to the next part of Pedro that perhaps separate's him from the field of similar players such as Insigne. His end product. What takes a decent dribbler and makes him an out and out game changer is his ability to outfox opposing players. He has 5* WF, can shoot from close or far and can cross, pass or even dribble past defenders and keeper. Your opponent will never be absolutely sure what you will do with Pedro once he has created the chance for himself. Especially considering his shot choice is also a headache for the defending team. Outside foot and Finesse shot mean he is capable of smashing or stroking the ball past a keeper.

So there it is, Pedro, a specialist tool that can be capable of a surprising amount of different utilizations. I have just one word of warning for you. Don't expect to shrug off challenges should you find yourself between a rock and a hard place. Much like a scalpel he is sharp and precise, but doesn't hold up well against the hammering of challenges. For this reason I find him best paired with a more physical forward such as Anderson Talisca as shown in the squad.

  • Extremely agile
  • Difficult to predict
  • Fairly easy links
  • Very good 'info' stats (4*5*, Short and Lean, Finesse and Outside foot trait)
  • good value for coins
  • Weak, easily pushed off the ball
  • Likely to be superseded by other players in due course
  • Best position is not LW so in game adjusting is required.
