Where do i start with this absolutely magnificent card. I picked him up for 550k on the first day of mini-release and it was the best decision i made to date. The 5 star 5 star combo alone makes this card value for coins, i was expecting him to cost a lot more given previous trends. So enough of the small talk lets get into the review, i tested him out in a 41212 narrow in game using him as the central CAM, with Paqueta,FB Allan and Baby Vieira playing alongside him in the midfield. He lived up to the hype, the man has a lean body type, his skills come off very very nicely, his shots fly in from ridiculous angles, his passing is up there with the likes of KDB and the 5 star wf had me fooling everyone, they had no idea which foot i was going to pass/shoot with. This card is very unpreditable, in a good way ofcourse. After 10 games in Elite rivals i had racked up 10 goals and 6 assists with him, I can confirm i had a blast using this card, and can say for sure he won't be leaving my squad any time soon, i can't recommend him enough!
Silky Smooth dribbling
Lean body type
95 vision + passing in general was insane
Outside foot shot trait allowed for goals to go in from ridiculous angles
88 Stamina
90 Long shots
5 * 5* Combo
Only real con at a push is his strength, you can feel it lacking at times but for the most he can shimmer past defenders, very jammy card indeed.
Was thinking of buying a new CAM since i was using Ronaldo POTM for fun there before and he wasn't doing the work. Usually finish around 18-19 wins and he was definitely holding the attack back. Had around 500k and was thinking between Fekir and Odegaard but went with Odegaard since he has 5'* 5* and omg i'm so happy i made that decision. Prob the best value CAM.
Responsiveness. He was insanely agile and was dribbling thru people easily. One of the most enjoyable players i've tried. Easily top 3 with cruyff prime and mid pele ahead.
Shooting. Finesse shots, shots across goal, chip shots. Whatever it just flies in nearly every time since he has 5* week foot.
Passing. No joke this card has some of the best passing i've tried on this game. Just ping them in behind if you wanna thru ball it or play little 1 2s whatever it just works.
Pace. He is really quick since he has 90 acceleration but with hunter gets boosted to max. For a CAM it's the perfect pace but striker it's decent but not too good.
'Price. 500k or lower is insane value.
Defending for an attacker is insane since it's mid 60s all around. Nothing like a Vieira but good for an attacker.
Physical. He is weak af and won't be out muscle your opponents but it's not neccesary when you got all the other things. He feels like a budget cruyff won't lie same with Mkhi.
Martin Ødegård is unreal for me in a 4231 system playing as a number 10, his 5 star 5 star combination makes it insanely difficult for my opponents to combat him, I am not the greatest of players but this card makes my life so much easier
It's been a while since I've done a review but this card has got me in the mood for one.
First off I'll mention I am doing an Arsenal P&P and so have already grabbed FS Smith Rowe, FB Mkhi, UCL Sanchez, Moments Ozil and have used prime RVP and prime Bergkamp in CAM too so I have a good measure of what each of these guys can do and how they fall short.
This card (in my opinion) is by far and a away better than any of the other mentioned cards. Its the multiple parts of the game which he is just so smooth and good at that makes it so enjoyable. So lets break it down by category:
Pace: 5/10 - I think this is neither here nor there, his pace is solid and usable but I wouldn't go throwing him on the wing, someone like Sanchez or Mkhi can do a job there because of their speed but Odegaard is a card for the middle of the park. Having said that, when he matches up against some of the players in the middle of the park, his speed is very good.
Shooting: 8/10 - Pleasantly surprised by this element, I know the stat is high anyway for this but he was able to score a bunch of different types of goals for me and I think that's what I appreciated most about this card, he could break through and finish the 1 on 1s easily and he could also bend in a finesse from distance. Power strikes are a little limited, have to be at the right spot/angle for them but they will go in. His free kicks and set pieces are a joke, so good, I could catch people out on keeper side if they moved their keeper ever so slightly.
Passing: 9/10 - This is the best stat for me. His passing is beautiful but its also the weighting. often you'll have a passing player who will have a great passing stat but still misplace/overhit some passes. None of this with Odegaard, his passing placement and speed is spot on all the time particularly from through balls. The reason this isn't 10 is because I just didn't use his long passing enough and I'm always hesitant to give 10s to any stat. To compare his passing to Ozil, simply put its better.
Dribbling: 7.5/10 - His dribbling is very good and very tight but I did find that even though he has that 5* WF, he does tend to use his left alot (its not a surprise, that's his dominant foot) but it makes the dynamism of his dribbling limited towards that right foot. Still very solid and more important to his pace/movement than his actual pace. He is quick with his dribbling and that makes things tough for your opponent as he can break past lines quickly.
Defending: N/A
Physical: 4/10 - His physicality is decent in terms of stamina, he can run about for 80 minutes absolutely fine but will be tired for those last 10. Aggression is low and he struggles sometimes in those 50/50s that Sanchez might be able to win.
Other: The 5* WF and 5* SM are a massive bonus, the passing is brilliant on the right and the left as is the shooting. Makes him so so dangerous.
One other thing I will mention is that despite how good he is, I do believe (obviously) that there are better alternatives out there and wouldn't be paying the current 600k going rate.
He's better than all the above imo but not that much better. Good card but not good value.
