I was bored and decided to do the mid/prime icon upgrade sbc and managed to psack myself a prime RVP. At first I wasn't too excited because although I like him in real life, the card isn't known to be an insane card in the game, but after bringing him on off the bench for 6 games in Weekend League, he bagged himself 5 goals and 1 assist.
I decided to put him up top in my team alongside prime Torres and he was absolutely ridiculous. In 5 games in the starting 11 he scored 8 goals and got 1 assist. ROBIN VAN PERSIE!! - 91 Rated Prime Robin Van Persie Review - FUT 22"
When it comes down to the pace, it's 85, nothing great but its not too bad. With an engine/hunter he does feel a lot faster and has sufficient pace to run in behind from that ST position. With the chem style I'd give him a 9/10 for pace with an ENGINE chem style.
The shooting on this card is honestly top tier. Just shoot bros! Left foot, right foot, finesse shot, power shot, long shot, it doesn't matter!! Just shoot and it will go in provided you haven't aimed your shot to the linesman ;) . I'd give him a 9.6/10 for shooting.
The passing on this card is also very good, bear in mind that I used the engine chem style on him to boost his passing, dribbling and pace. He makes almost every single pass, regardless of what type of pass it is. The flair trait also helps in terms of doing fancy passes if you want it to look cool :) . For passing I'd give him a 9.2/10 .
Unfortunately , for the dribbling , despite it being 90 rated the 68 balance really does show even with thye engine chem style. However, he is able to keep the ball close in tight situations and wriggle a shot away in a crowded box. He does take tidy touches here and there in order to skip past the defenders. So for dribbling I'm going to give him a 9/10.
You're honestly not getting him for defending but due to his unique body type, physical and long legs, he is able to push some defenders off the ball and take it if you really need him to. But defending is N/A .
The physical on the card is decent. He is stroong on the ball and can hold off some defenders, but occasionally he does go down courtesy of the 59 aggresion and 68 balance. Hwowver, the stamina on this card being 79 really isn't great. He does get exhausted around the 70th minute. So I'd give him a 7.5/.10 for physical.
If you like RVP in real life, I would say maybe the 400k is worth it if he's your icon or if you just want to try new icons out. He is definitely not a meta card, but that's what makes him fun to use.
I would definitely recommend a hunter or engine chem style for this card in order to boost the pace as much as possible.
Shooting - everything about the shooting is insane
short passing
curve
crossing
free kicks
dribbling
ball control
Maybe a little slow without the right chem style :(
