While I've since moved onto the OTW version, which has been upgraded to an 82 OVR recently, base Tomori has been solid for the half of FUT Season 1. I've used him for about 68 games before switching over to the OTW version and I will be discussing about the OTW version as well before the 82 OVR upgrade. He has started out playing at a 4-3-3 (5) False 9 Formation and I then played with his pre-upgraded OTW version for 72 games or so. Let me preface by saying that although I've been playing FIFA since FIFA 10, I am not the greatest FIFA player but I am pretty decent at the game.
I've found his base card to be pretty good for a 79-rated center-back. While he was physically dominant when battling for the ball, he didn't really have much aerial presence when I used him to get headers for offensive corners and he got aerially beat when defending corners even after I positioned him well toward potential aerial threats. Passing was decent but he's not much of a ball-playing defender. Even though he lacks the height for a center-back, he did catch up to a majority of opposing attackers so his pace was pretty clutch most of the time. The goals and assists that he gave were surplus to requirements for my team. I recommend him as a good starter CB if you're running a Serie A Squad as you're starting out in the game.
Pace (Obviously a big plus. Catches up to most attackers)
Strength (Doesn't get bullied off the ball easily)
Defending (Overall defending has been solid for me. Makes great tackles)
Height (6'1" is not tall for a center-back. Won't really win you a lot of headers unless you position him well enough to get a sight in)
Passing (Nitpicky but felt clunky when trying to passing the ball. Short passing is fine but he can't hoof it upfield and doesn't consistently hit driven passes well enough)
Stamina (Plays the full 90 but can get tired if you're playing constant pressure)
Heading (Depends if you can position well enough. Height is a factor due to this)
Defensive Awareness (Not really the best and it does let his overall defending down. This is even with the Anchor chem boost I had with him. At times, he does get caught out)
