Marcos Llorente - Absolutely Insane
By Bucketeering, 27-09-2021

Coming in to this year I was looking at a few possible options for my starter CM. Llorente was definitely not on this list because of how ridiculously expensive I expected him to be. Fortunately, I packed IF Vinicius Jr. day one and Llorente cost a lot less than I expected. I immediately bought him and made him the centerpiece of my squad. He has consistently been my best midfielder and likely best overall player. He is so versatile you could probably play him anywhere in the midfield but I love my fast CDMs so I play him there with a shadow. He is a monster intercepting the ball and consistently wins it from opposing midfielders. He gets back on defense so quickly after an attack thanks to his blistering 98 pace. The most surprising part of his game is how effective he is attacking after winning the ball. As he outspeeds virtually any player the opponent may have you can easily begin an attack through him. Running up from the back creates a mismatch as he can outspeed fullbacks down the wing and cross surprisingly well or play as a second CAM in any given situation. Although he lacks 4 star skill moves his dribbling is surprisingly quick enough and is usually sufficient to beat opposing defenders. His shooting will catch you off guard as he can easily score bangers. Finally, I do recommend shadow over any other chem style. I have tried out anchor and I was not a fan. I'm sure you could make him a more offensive CM with other chem styles but like I said earlier, I love my CDMs. Overall, a fantastic CM and one of the best early game CMs I've used in a long time.

  • Awesome pace
  • Goretzka gang with a shadow
  • Great interceptions
  • Mismatch for opposing defenders
  • True box to box player
  • 3 star skills
  • Can occasionally get beaten off the ball by more physical CMs

Ramires Never Left, He Simply Reincarnated
By Chinitoisrael, 17-10-2021

Once upon a time there was a legend named Ramires that terrorized everyone who played this game. Suddenly, he disappeared from the game and never threatened the controllers of anymore players... until his perfected reincarnation came in the form of Llorente. This player is genuinely the best base gold midfielder I have ever used, and is a player that I plan to keep on my team by any means necessary. You want someone who can play CDM with someone or by himself, Llorente can do that. Are you looking for a box to box midfielder for your 442? Llorente is your guy. Do you just simply want to cause your opponents eternal suffering by not being able to run away from you? Again, Llorente is the guy for you. I used him with a shadow chemistry style alongside Valverde, and the only thing Valverde could really do was watch as his partner hunted down his victims. In all seriousness, here are my opinions on the card.

Pace: 10/10

Honestly, nobody is safe running from Llorente, since he is able to run faster than almost every midfielder and attacker in this game. He has been put against the likes of Dembele and Rashford, and all they can do is prolong the inevitable as Llorente begins to do the Get Out challenge on them. Of all the midfielders I have used in this game so far, the difference in speed in night and day. Overall, he feels rapid in game and his pace is definitely his biggest strong suit as a player, especially with the fact that he has NINETY-EIGHT pace with a shadow chemistry style.

Shooting: 8/10

I mean, the card isn't really meant to be used as a CAM, so his shooting being mediocre is to be expected but is by no means bad on this card. Llorente is always in a good position both defensively and offensively; if there is a rebound that goes to him, there is no doubt that he will score them. Also, I was surprised by how good his longshots actually felt. They weren't anything out of this world, but maybe due to the meta they felt better than they normally should. Llorente is someone you can take shots with, and not feel like he will miss his target. Also, his 4 star weak foot is a big bonus to have in many situations.

Passing: 8/10

Can he receive the ball? Yes he can. Can he pass the ball to someone else? Yes he can. His passing was very solid and was more than enough for his CDM role, I didn't feel like there was any clunkiness to his passes, whether they were long or short.

Dribbling: 8/10

For someone his height, Llorente felt extremely smooth on the ball. Perhaps this is due to the lean body type which made him seem very agile even after making defensive tackles. His ball control made it simple for him to receive passes, and I never felt like he would get a bad touch from any pass. He never felt stiff from my experience, and that is something that most defensive midfielders tend to struggle with. Maybe a notable con, would be his lack of 4 star skills but was personally irrelevant to m=

Defense: 9/10

Most of the time when Llorente tackles somebody, they lose the ball before they can even realize it. This man is super solid at defending, and in my opinion CDM is where you will get your money's worth. He can defend against the most slippery of players, and even against the more physical attackers. His defensive ability was very effective, and saved me from many dangerous attacks from my opponents. He doesn't have the greatest defensive prowess, but combined with his pace it is definitely a deadly combination.

Physical: 9/10

At no point did I feel that Llorente was too weak at the defensive role. Like I previously mentioned, Haaland and Lukaku don't really stand a chance against Llorente since he's able to easily throw physical players off balance and win the ball back. Another thing I really liked was his stamina. He was never tired, even in extra time and there is no doubt that he can go the distance in any match.

Overall: 5/5

After playing many games with this card, I have yet to have used a midfielder that is anywhere as complete as Llorente. Perhaps Goretzka could be a contender, but pace is such a vital stat which is what makes Llorente so unique in this game. He simply reminded me of the glory days of Ramires, and he exceeded in living up to his legacy. He has the stats needed to be an important player in anybody's team for months to come, and will probably become the most hated player to go up against. I have never used any base card similar to this one, and is a definite must buy for anybody who can fit him in their team.

Best gold cm in the game
By Thomas071, 20-10-2021

Before i start talking about the card I wanted to specify that I'm not english, so there are, most likely, gonna be mistakes in the review and also that this is my first review ever.

But let's start talking about llorente: so I packed him in a random pack and i decided to try him. I felt in love with this card; he has anything you need in the CM or CDM position to be very solid.

I tryed him with two chem styles: anchor and engine. After about 25 games played witch each one I can say that anchor is the better option in my opinion. He is gonna make so much more interceptions instead of having the engine, but if you want him to be offensive I recommend you to use the engine: even if I feel like he is more of a defensive midfielder because of his 3*skill moves, you can definitely use him as a more offensive midfielder. With an engine he is responsevi agile and really fast, but as I do in my team I prefer to use, for example, bruno fernandes as the one who goes forward since llorente is a god at defending. Infact (with an anchor) he is really fast, he makes lots of interceptions and tackles and when you get the ball you can make a fast counter attack since of his pace. His shooting is fine and his passing is good. He lasts for the all 90' minutes. Sometimes you can notice that 69 balance that makes him a little bit clunky but you can get over it. His phisicality it's nothing amazing except the aggression that makes him feel stronger and more automatic. His links are not great since he plays for athletico and this year the La Liga Santander is not so good apart from some gem like llorente. So I reccomend you to buy this card if you need a midfielder that is complete. He is expensive, but affordable in my opinion.

God.
By Dancoyne, 27-10-2021

This guy is the best CDM i have used so far, just like fifa 21. I had his 84 red pick last year and he was insane so i wanted to get him again this year and he is probably twice as good this year.

He is so good both attacking and defensively, has the stamina to get forward and back and dominates the midfield alongside De Jong in my 4-2-3-1, although i think he could do a good job beside any other kind of midfielder beside him

i use skills so the 3* is the only slight negative i can think of, its not even that important anyways.
