Il Capitano

Why did I get him? Well, it was a no-brainer for me. I'm big Serie A fan and I only play with players from Serie A or Icons that have been playing in Italy. So the time has come to check what Il Capitano has to offer.

I played with him a whole Weekend League (just managed to get Rank II) and additionally some Rivals (managed to get promotion to Div 2 this past weekend). And them some SB, so the stats are irrelevant sadly.

He was my left CAM in 4-2-2-2. I had to play a little bit with some custom tactics and with Alex free roaming the pitch. He has been really good. Really, really good. His positioning was perfect, a lot of movement between the lines. With his 5* WF some opponents were very hesitant to press him straight away, as he could cut inside to got for (insane!) shot or dribble towards the side and go for a cross (Morata XD).

It took some time for me to utilize him properly, he is not that user-friendly like Di Natale (there will be review for him as well!) but in my opinion he is way more powerful than him. Now I'm gonna explain you why.

Firstly, shooting! This guy can do it all. What really amaze me are his power shots outside the box. Those are rockets and going top bins every single time. I have never seen something like this in this game. I would even say that I had a higher conversion rate from his power shots rather than from finesse shots. Another crucial aspect are his first time shots - amazing control. It is really special. 5* WF helps him a lot. You just press shoot button and instantly skip celebration because it is going in.

Secondly, pace. He is not speedster who can run the whole pitch with Kimpembe on his back, but with a good through ball or with a great timing he can beat a defender with his pace. His sprint/acceleration is perfectly balanced and with Hunter he is fast. He surprised me in this category. With his free roaming, it is possible to utilize his runs to conquer the pitch very fast and go for a quick one-two with the strikers.

Lastly, his dribbling. He has a unique body type and he might look a little stocky, but his movement is nowhere near it. He can turn very fast, has a great first touch and in 1v1 with opposition he is capable of a very rapid body feint to create a lot of space. Before ADP, I played with normal Insigne, who felt more responsive with the ball, but was nowhere near as effective as Alex.

That was a real pleasure to play with that card. I would love to see him in Icon Swaps. Give him a try, try to find your own way of playing with him. He might just be a solo striker for you or he might be central CAM. Two up front? He might just be the guy. Really great card. It is not the last time that I play with that card.

My only concern is the price. It is still high comparing it to Di Natale, but there is a very little supply of that card. If you look at the cards that are available on the market then you will see that this card has a phenomenal stats.

I packed him in a Mid or Prime Pick, I was so disappointed at the time but when I got to use him in game and start abusing his 5* wf finesse shots I was delighted.
