Player Review

97 - Shapeshifters Hero
5.0
One of the best defensive players this game
By CheekylittleRomero, 23-08-2022

Ivan Cordoba is someone I had always wanted in my side from the very start of the game cycle

We had not had a small defender who was both agile and well balanced as well as being overall pacey, the only notable defender small enough before only really being Lisandro Martinez and Franco Baresi, Martinez lacking an end game card and Baresi never being quick enough

Seeing EA remember that they added completely new cards was nice during the FUT Captains promo and again with Shapeshifters, though admittedly the turnout for people playing the game had nearly diminished by this point, including myself over a particularly bad streak of Rivals games leaving me not playing the game till the 2nd or 3rd week of Futties

Cordoba was one those that had re-appeared during the 85x10 addition. I'm very happy to say I packed him, though for how good he is, under 100k for this defender is a steal, even though it is September nearly. Firstly, Pace. His pace is superb, with his acceleration and small stature making him feel electric and if played as a RB in a 4 back formation make it feel easy to charge up the right flank and pass it forward. Notably I only played him RB and CB as even if I didn't have a LB I would hesitate to play him there, which is odd when I've happily played Valverde LB and felt no issues when he has the same weak foot. As a CB the acceleration was obviously a boost as well as still being immensely quick and more than able to catch up with other attackers. He has scored a single header, which was very impressive as he had Van Dijk marking him, but after his defending vs Sancho, it's no real surprise. Passing as mentioned is no issue, I don't usually get to far for him to cross and I prefer a short pass. Dribbling is on a par with passing, nothing spectacular, his movement is great and notably while suffering from severe lag, he did manage to beat 2 attackers and through ball it for his only assist. Defending I won't go into much, his interceptions, tackling and as mentioned his heading for someone so small is probably the best I've used, with Chiellini in 2nd (Best defensive duo and linked with Barella is a deadly trio). Physically hes competent, aggression is certainly noticeable and stamina never warrants any worrying for any drop off in ability. He does not feel massively strong which has crept up like twice when playing Objective Cups.

Easily a 10/10 defender, both slotting in easily as a RB and CB (though if played in a 4 back i recommend RB heavily or have a very tall CB next to him, and when Played CB in a 3 back, he played RCB as I want my central CB to have Med or Low attacking work rates and be the main anchor, whereas Cordoba fits the RCB role perfectly

Beast with one flaw.

One of the best CB in the game right now. I have packed him in the beginning of Fifa 22 and have played with him over 150 games in 1-2 division and WL.I have De Ligt RTTK with him, but you can buy any tall player, for example,

Like a Terrier on Steroids

Played him alongside Varane Flashback. As in other reviews already mentioned Varane is the ultimate auto defender, that is why I use him as I am not good at defending at all. Cordoba outperforms him every single game. Stands in the right places, makes the perfect runs, and even though he is quite short for a defender wins headers like he was Weghorsts bigger brother. Played around 20 ganes with him ans can't find anything o...

Best CB in Serie A

First of all, sorry for my bad english, please don't roast me.I try every single player in Serie A, and Cordoba is simply the best. He is everywhere, he runs faster than all the striker of the game (except of course for LW or RW with 95+ PAC used as ST).Even the height is not a problem, he jumps so well and can save a lot of crosses. He scores too from corner, even without the glitch.
