Kessie Rulebreaker Review
By Pac2101, 13-11-2021

After playing Kessie Gold in the beginning of FIFA 22, I got his Rulebreaker Card in an Untradeable Pack.

His Gold Card was really good for me, so I decided to use his Rulebreaker Card and build a new team around him.

I played him in 4222 mostly, sometimes also in 4231, when the games got a bit sweaty. Mostly used in Div 2 (after reset, I was in Elite Division around 1850 Skill rating).

He made also his Weekend League debut this week.

In the game, I played him as my defensive anchor with stay back instructions. His partner was Nkunku Rulebreaker.

My positive and negative points are from a CDM perspective.

  • PACE: He his really fast and can catch up pretty good to ball carrying players. The Shadow Chemistry Style boosted this attribute quite well. And I also feel the higher Dribbling stats make him feel faster aswell.
  • DRIBBLING: For a CDM with this kind of body type, strength and interceptions skills, REALLY REALLY good. He is quite useable in poor server conditions. That was always a problem with his Gold card. When the gameplay was off (because of 6 p.m. content time for example), you just could not turn the player.
  • SHOOTING: For a CDM really good shooting. His finishing is bad, so dont expect wonders in the box. But is long shots outside of the box are quite reliable, also because of his shot power and long shots attributes!
  • DEFENDING: He. intercepts. EVERYTHING. Best player I used, to JOCKEY with.
  • PASSING: Really good. I played Nkunku Rulebreaker besides him (93 Passing Version), and Kessie did a really good job keeping up with him!
  • PHYSICALITY: He pushes ball carrying players like its nothing. Shielding is quite reliable. His body type, strength and height are a good combination.

My positive and negative points are from a CDM perspective.

  • Heading (only downside, but it really was not a big problem for me)
  • Skills (was not a problem for me, because I dont need to skill with CDMs)
  • Links (right now kind of hard, because he has no strong links, but I expect one or another good Card to come up)

the missing link!

I'm only doing this review because its so late in the game and I'm honestly surprised this card is still so efficient.

I created a Serie A team about a week ago, and I needed a (stay back) DM to pair with Milinko... or vice versa. I tried every combination possible but there was always something missing. Kessie was literally my last resort, I was put off by his 81/82 dribbling & agility, but I'd never been so wrong about a player! He seemed unnaturally comfortable on the ball, but what eventually sold me was his passing... it felt like I was using 90 Modric, absolutely every important pass seemed to click. I'm not sure if its because of his high/high wr but he also seemed to be everywhere, hounding players and disrupting counter attacks.

If you're looking for a Serie A midfield destroyer then he's definitely the man for the job.

For reference: div 1 (hopefully on my way back to elite), 3-5-2/3-1-4-2, so I think he should be useable across divisions.

Obviously his defending is top notch

His passing feels like wildcard Modric

He's as comfortable on the ball as champs Frenkie de Jong

He's all over the pitch like champs 87 Vidal

and he's got enough stamina to outrun a zombie horde!

For a stay back CDM, nothing

Was skeptical about his dribbling but his strength gets him out of tight situations.
