Kopfbälle, Volley, Links, Rechts, Longshots, Tap-ins, alles.
Well, well, well. Super Mario is back. And he has never been this back before. But I must warn you, an overdose on Marioamphetamine can be lethal. Some say once you have tried Marioamphetamine you can never stop. It eats up all your chances but the poo that comes out in the form of goals tastes far far far better than the chance it was eating up.
If you have never ridden with the Super Mario, be careful when trying it the first time, as it can lead to multiple opponent rage quits in a row if used correctly. But keep in mind you must never blame Super Mario for your failures. Super Mario gets easily angry by this. It will not hesitate to pronounce you dead at scene from an OD if you do not respect it.
Keep in mind, Super Mario is a very powerful tool, and I request that you please not use it as a weapon. Marioamphetamine is art, do not insert new materials to it to make it toxic.
On a more serious note, if combined with high pressing, he is insanely good. He finishes everything. His leaner style of body type makes him extremely smooth and good at dribbling, wiggling in and out of tight spaces. He is insane, assist machines like RTTK Fekir, Coman, IF Nkunku, and IF Gnabry are the ones I have. I really think you should give him a shot if you are considering it. Very good at passing as well, if you need that.
Definetely pick him up if you are even considering it.
I spent a lot of money and fodder on the hero pack, hoping to get a great player. I got Mario Gomez, and was at first disappointed, not even playing a game with his for ages. However.
I today tried him in a 4231 with him at ST. I considered an Engine but went with Hunter for the extra pace. After a few games of rivals, I was already impressed. He feels very fast with hunter, and his shooting is brilliant. He can bang one in from outside the box, or be clinical in the box. His dribbling is much better than the card says, showing some great agility on some goals. His passing was also not an issue, racking up 6 assists along side his 9 goals in 9 games. 4* Weak foot was great for his already lethal finishing. 3* skills was not an issue for me personally but it could be for others. Lastly, his heading stats are great, towering above other players on corners.

I was really hyped to use Gomez, as he looks a really solid striker. He's also an excuse to use the Gomez Button, which I'd expected to be playing at least every game. However, I was left bitterly disappointed after using him. He offered nothing special and in fact was a detriment to my team in many ways. I expected a strong hold-up man with decent pace/agility and a lethal shot. Instead I got an average striker who was often outclassed by any and all defenders he played against.
Pace - 3/10
Even with an Engine chemistry style, Gomez felt incredibly sluggish. I'm not a pace-abusing player. In fact, POTM Benzema is my favourite player this year and he clocks in slower than Gomez. Something about Gomez seems to make him so much slower when running. His runs in behind were easily matched by most defenders and he often failed to steal a yard or two on them. I'm not sure if it's his body type or what, but something about him makes him way slower than you'd expect
Dribbling - 2/10
My god, he turns like a truck. He's very similar to Haaland to where his body type completely negates any dribbling ability he has. He lumbers around the pitch with the ball. I wasn't expecting a silky smooth player in Gomez, but I at least expected to be able to beat a man here and there when I needed to. His ball control was good when receiving passes, but that's all I can say. Do not use him if you need someone agile.
Shooting - 8/10
Probably the only thing I can recommend him for. If you get him in front of the goal, he'll score. His finishing is excellent, as are his long shots. His finesse shots are pretty nice as well, although not the best I've used in the game. His heading is solid too if you know how to time them. Not as amazing as I expected, but still good. If you somehow know you'll get him into shooting positions, I can recommend him, but everything else about him just drags down his appeal.
Defending - 0/10
no
Passing - 5/10
It's okay, I guess. It's really hard to tell on FIFA 22 if his misplaced passes are because of his stats or the game deciding the ball needs to be at Kimpembe/Kante's feet. I didn't notice him be any better or worse than the average player in my team, so 5/10 is fair.
Physical - 4/10
Now this was disappointing. Once again, I got major Haaland vibes from Gomez with him being shockingly easy to tackle and dispossess. He could hold up the ball for a bit, but would always eventually lose out, falling over from seemingly nothing. When running, it would take very little to push him off the ball, even from defenders who aren't particularly strong. Since he's good in the air, I can't score him too low, but he was pretty disappointing in this area.
Movement - 2/10
After every game, I had to double-check to make sure he actually had High/Medium workrates. Even with instructions, he just wouldn't make good runs. He'd stop short, run out wide, not run at all or constantly disappear into the midfield no matter what I did. He seemed allergic to being in the right spot. Whether this was gameplay or the player, I can't say for certain, but considering it happened over multiple games, I can't give FIFA all the blame.
Overall - 4/10
Massively disappointing. I expected so much from Gomez having loved players like Benzema this year, but didn't get what I expected at all. Though he'll usually score should he get the chance, chances will be few and far between and you'll be left wishing you spent the 60k on a better all-round striker. There's be no Cha Chas when you use him this FIFA
Fuck was he bad, I am sorry. In anticipiation of great things did I purchase Mario Gomez for only 88k. Usually, I am a player who thrives with Icons and Heroes that I just 'feel' because I watched them play when I was younger. The same build up did I have with Gomez who I looked up to as a kid. The low agility and fridge-like frame could not scare me of either since I usually feel quite comfortable with these types of strikers (e.g., Drogba, Haaland). But unfortunately, he let me down so bad.
His pace of the ball is quite good with the hunter chemistry style and his physical strength is definitely noticeable. His passing is surprisingly good.
His dribbling is unbearable, his positioning is not nearly as good as I wished and he is so insanely clunky that you can't take any advantage of his marvelous shooting stats because he never gets into the right positions and angles.
