Papu the beast

Papu Gomez is always one of the best CAMs in Fifa and even though he has recieved a downgrade from EA this year, he has still not failed to impress me. He is currently at 20k which is a reasonable price at this stage of the game for a player with his stats. He has recieved a -3 in pace and a -1 in dribbling but still feels like the fast dribbling god from previous years. His passing is great, however his shooting is a bit on and off when you don't green time them (which is like most other players this year as green-timing shots is currently one of the only ways to efficiently score).

I played Papu in a 4-2-3-1 formation as the central CAM behind Angel Correa and in between Carrasco+Portu. In most players opinions, it is currently very hard to try and break down your oppositions defense so i chose to use direct passing tactics and LB/L1 passes with Papu Gomez to create more runs and space. Instructions were balanced and stay forward due to the fact that i am not too sure what is currently good or not. Papu scored 12 and assisted 10 in 7 games (3 of which my opponent quitted halfway in). These are obviously very good stats but they did not surprise me as he is always a card that is quality in every Fifa. I started playing with Papu fresh into Div 10 and I am now a Div 8/Rank 2 player(so not the best player, but more casual) and i have played around 7 hours of my EA play trial.

-He is 5'6 and is very fast and agile despite his downgrade in pace. He still manages to get onto the end of through balls and outpace center backs such as Militao with shadow with ease for me.

-His dribbling when matched with his pace is absolutely amazing. I find turning away from defenders quite hard so far this Fifa but with Papu it felt natural. His high pace and dribbling really helps him breeze past defenders.

-His passing is very good. He is very capable of chipping through balls down the line, to your striker and even switching the play. He excels at short passing and was excellent when completing L1/LB passes for me.

-4 star 4 star is great (deserves 5 star wf though).

-His height and short+lean build makes it quite easy for defenders to body him off the ball when he tries to turn past them. (I recommend if you are building up play to release the ball quickly when being chased down by a defender after having recieved a pass. This helps you get into more opens spaces with Papu in which he excels!).

-His stamina is a 75 so i did have to sub him off occasionally near the end of the match for some fresh legs to help me out in the attack.

-His shooting can dissapoint. My 12 goals with him may look good but i did miss quite a few shots with him. This is mostly down to the reasons that Goalkeepers are crazy good and that I didn't succesfully green time the majority of his shots (this is my first FIFA where I am timing shooting so it is coming new to me!). However, towards the last few games, i became more confident with green timing his shots and that is when he scored a lot of his goals.
