Player Review
86 - Rulebreakers
I used Luuk De Jong in the attached squad as the LST in a 4222 in-game in Division 5 rivals. His instruction set was simply stay forward + get in behind and he was partnered up top by Marko Arnautovic's dynamic duo card which I will also be writing a review for. I am on old-gen and used De Jong with a hunter chem-style to try and give him the best chance of breaking in behind.
I do not claim to be a good player this year but this card made it very easy to score goals and keep myself in games against better squads and players. I listed all of the games he has played even though I did quit out of two games. As far as objective cards go, he is my favorite so far and is definitely worth the rather annoying objective grind of having to score twice with Dutch players in all of those separate games. If you have Cody Gakpo and/or loan Cruyff, it will make it much easier!
I would recommend starting him but having a powerful, fast striker to bring off the bench for him in the second half. He is easily the most clinical finisher I have used thus far and that perfect link to POTM Gakpo is too good to pass on in my opinion. He's a very good option for anyone who is struggling to find a good, consistent finisher.
- Shooting
- De Jong's strike on his right and left (5* weak foot) is very powerful and accurate from close range
- You can rely on him to consistently find the corner on easier chances as well as high-pressure and first-time finishes
- Shot feels better than a player like Immobile, who has similar shooting stats
- Pace
- For a player with only 86 pace, he feels very fast over long distances (most likely due to his lengthy accelerate stat)
- He will often pinch in front of a defender on a through ball and force himself towards the goal
- Passing
- When a precise ground pass or long ball is needed, he very rarely misses the target
- 5* weak foot makes him a versatile player in build-up
- Gets assists fairly frequently from knock-downs and passes
- Heading
- Not as potent as expected in the air scoring-wise but he is excellent at headed passes to teammates and rarely loses a duel
- Physical
- Easily holds off defenders like Varane with his back to goal
- Can win penalties by getting to the ball first and putting his body in the right areas in the box
- LINKS!
- Gets a perfect link to Cody Gakpo who is excellent on this game and a club link to Savio's RTTK card which is another great attacking option this year
- Stamina and aggression
- With his stamina being so low, plus this being his only downgraded stat, this con is very expected
- I usually need to sub him off by the 75th minute or so
- His aggression feels as low as it is
- Strength and jumping are high enough where he does feel like a real physical presence in the box
- Dribbling
- Having very low agility and balance means that he is not effective at dribbling in any direction except for a straight line (lengthy helps him out)
- His ball control and composure are excellent, however
- Heading (scoring)
- Struggles to really power the ball into the net but is fine on easier headers
