Hello guys, this will be my first FC 25 player review, and what a way to start with a banger of a card such as Phil Foden. Somehow I've managed to pack Phil Foden (Eder Militao right behind him...) and I was forced to rebuild my little hybrid team in order to fit him. I put a link to my current team in this review so you can have a look how I managed to slot him in!
First off, his positions, his favourite position is the RW position, over here he also gets to use his role+/role++, he is also playable at LW, CAM and RM. In my games I have only played him at the RW position so I can't really speak for how he would be over at the other positions, however my idea is that he could be used as a playmaker at the LW position, as a CAM he could also fit the playmaker playstyle but over at RW you get to cut inside, cross the ball or use the technical dribbling to your advantage to create some problems for your opponent.
Fodens 'feel' on the ball can be compared to Messi, especially when you are using the techincal 'R1' dribbling playstyle, the ball sticks to his feet and he can even keep hold of the ball when the opposition is trying to tackle him. Its like the magnet effect Neymar usually has, but ofcourse at a slightly less success rate compared to Neymar. However I must say, the dribbling with Foden is arguably his best pro and it makes him so annoying to play against, and such a joy to play with.
He isn't a speed demon, you can get away when using the 'R1' dribbling playstyle and force your opponent to guess where to preform the next tackle, but he is no Nico Williams so don't expect him to burst into space. In my opinion/playstyle he was a playmaker/false forward.
The one thing that did bother me a whole lot are his finesse shots, after me taking at least 10 great opportunities for a finesse shot around the box and every ball going straight at the goalkeeper, over the crossbar or next to the far post I thought the game had nerfed finesse shots in general. To my suprise Foden doesn't have the finesse shot playstyle which explains the terrible misses. Inside the box I had no problem using the finesse shot but I had found more succes shooting either across goal or near post with Foden. So I would recommend you to do the same. The lack of shooting playstyles is noticeable which you could also see as a con.
Overall this card right now is great for any team, he offers a lot versatility in offense due to him behing able to play multiple positions and the balanced card stats.
