Extremely tough act to follow here for Ángel Correa as the Argentine follows immediately after another South American in Enzo Francescoli. If you haven’t read the Uruguyan’s review I would highly recommend checking out what turned out to be a fantastic card.
Despite the difficult shoes to fill it is clear that Correa has some talent given the hype that continues to build since Friday’s release… And based on statistics alone it would appear that this card has a lot more to offer than just a strong link to Llorente’s Evolution.
Literally an unchanged side from the Francescoli review and still in the 4-3-2-1… just a new frontman, offering an excellent opportunity to compare quality while considering price tags. Worth noting that the 8 and 0 run with Francescoli did mean a tougher group of opponents would be lining up to face Correa… With that we applied the HUNTER Chemistry Style in hopes that the extra Pace and Shooting could see Correa continue the goal scoring trend for the remainder of the weekend.
Correa aimed to live up to hype all review long in the following squad:
Overall
Right from the outset of this review I was quick to remind myself that Fransecoli is an 800k card and that expectations of a 170k card had to be tempered. Yet, after about two matches I was back expecting the world from the Atleti frontman as he started banging them in for fun, but simply couldn’t keep up the goal scoring pace throughout the review.
Main Statistics – Pace
Pace Rating: 10/10
Dribbling: 9/10
Skills: ā ā ā ā
PlayStyles: Technical, Flair
Not nearly as big and strong on the ball as Francescoli and so it really was a game of catch me if you can between Correa and the opposing defenders… Thankfully, more often than not, they couldn’t. The HUNTER Chemistry Style looked like the best choice from the outset and the 96 ACCELERATION & 95 SPRINT SPEED delivered on that assumption throughout the review.
Added in the Dribbling to this one because it all ties together so nicely. The TECHNICAL PlayStyle on an already quick card was fantastic to use and the FLAIR PlayStyle created a really smooth card to operate on the ball.
Again it comes down to the 4 STAR SKILLS keeping Correa from perfection, but the lack of strength on the ball was an added issue and so the rating feels about right.
Value/Coins
Value/Coins: 5/5
Crazy value for this card and given the hype and links I am shocked he hasn’t remained closer to 200k. I would have felt that price tag was justified… While the 170k he sits at now feels quite low.
Good vs. Bad
Good vs Bad Rating: 5/5
Statistics this high can be a gift when they work out and a curse if they fall short… Thankfully for my sanity and Correa’s review it was the first option.
+ The other half of the HUNTER boost came in the form of some ruthless finishing during the review… and While 11 goals doesn’t break any records, it was a big part of the Weekend League success. As if the 95 FINISHING, 89 SHOT POWER and 4 STAR WEAK FOOT needed any help… The TRIVELA PlayStyle was yet another weapon to utilize.
Definitely the biggest difference between Francescoli and Correa comes in the underperforming statistics. For Francescoli these were minor issues and borderline invisible, which is what 800k buys you… While for Correa they were more serious issues that impacted the game negatively.
- Back to Passing difficulties and in general it is no surprise. The 86 VISION & 84 SHORT PASSING are in desperate need of a PlayStyle or Chem boost, but other areas needed the attention more readily and therefore the connectivity between my attackers suffered.
- The lack of physical presence with Correa had me moving him out to the wings in a few key matches and overall he was just bullied too easily given his size and 71 STRENGTH.
Closing Words
Obviously not directly comparing an 800k card to a 170k option, but it was interesting to see the difference so close together. Correa has the ability to cause problems and again the 11 goals and 2 assists highlights that. Value wise I think he is right there and I get the popularity. The Passing and Strength were a problem but maybe more so was a lack of scoring different goals. With Correa it was often route one to goal and that is fine… But against the better defenders it really did limit chances and overall wasn’t the best. For price… I would definitely give him a run in your squad, especially if you need Llorente links… just don’t expect a world beater.
Hoping you are well. Cheers for reading
