A Premier League dominated side looks to be the first TOTW of 2024 with half of the side coming from the division. It’s not only the PL to get excited for though with an Al-Nassr duo and a cheaper route into Ranieri’s evo available
Elia Caprile - GK - 72 > 83 OVR
3 Saves, penalty save and clean sheet / Cagliari 0 - Empoli 0 / 8 Gazzetta Rating
The trend of Serie A goalkeepers looks set to continue after a few phenomenal performances between the sticks this week. Several others miss out from the division with Caprile being the favourite. After receiving an eight from Gazzetta for his penalty save alongside several other key moments.
Alfie Jones - CB - 68 > 83 OVR
Goal and assist / Hull 3 - Blackburn 2 / 8.7 Sofascore Rating
A five-goal thriller is not something you would usually associate with a defensive performance, especially from a CB. Alfie Jones played a large part in the victory though with both a goal and assist helping Hull edge out the 3-2 encounter.
Konstantinos Mavropanos - CB - 78 > 86 OVR
Goal and clean sheet / Arsenal 0 - West Ham 2 / 9 Sky Rating
It was a rough week for Arsenal who lost both matches they played. The first was at the hands of West Ham who scored two without reply. Mavropanos scored the second to secure the victory and was solid throughout at the back. A nine from Sky should result in his IF.
Joao Mario - RB - 77 > 83 OVR
Goal and clean sheet / Porto 1 - Chaves 0 / 7.6 Sofascore Rating
Defenders were a real struggle this week so although Joao Mario received average match ratings I simply can not ignore a goal and a clean sheet from defence, especially with it being the only goal of the game.
Sadio Mane - LM - 86 > 87 OVR
Two goals / Al-Ittihad 2 - Al-Nassr 5 / 9.1 Sofascore Rating
With the players Al-Ittihad possesses you have to ask what is going wrong there with the Saudi outlet struggling despite signing huge names over the summer. Al-Nassr continues to chase league leaders Al-Hilal and will be very happy to see Mane coming into form. His double helped lead them to a 5-2 away win, as they made it four consecutive wins.
Phil Foden - CAM - 85 > 86 OVR
Two assists / Man City 2 - Sheffield United 0 / 9 Sky Rating
Foden could have received an IF from either match played this week with the Englishman picking up a 9/10 from both fixtures. With two assists against Sheffield United on Saturday that is the more likely of the two to be picked up on but overall a fantastic week for Phil Foden.
Rafa - CAM - 83 > 86 OVR
One goal, two assists / Benfica 3 - Famalicao 0 / 9 Sofascore Rating
The Portuguese league title race is heating up with several of the main sides competing well. Benfica are one of those and a 3-0 win inspired by Rafa’s three-goal contributions helps them keep the chase on.
Alejandro Garnacho - RM - 75 > 87 OVR
Two goals / Manchester United 3 - Aston Villa 2 / 8 Sky Rating
Falling two goals behind after just 26 minutes it looked set to be yet another long day for Manchester United. That was anything but the case, with the Red Devils coming out a different side for the second half. An inspired comeback occurred with a Garnacho brace topped off by a late Hojlund goal to claim all three points.
Marcelo Brozovic - CM - 83 > 86 OVR
Goal and assist / Al-Taawoun 1 - Al Nassr 4 / 9.6 Sofascore Rating
While two players from one side have not happened in a long time, with Al-Nassr offering two strong candidates from two separate games it is not impossible. Especially in a week like this with limited options available to us. Brozovic dominated the middle of the park, providing a goal and an assist to receive high match ratings.
Ollie Watkins - ST - 80 > 86 OVR
Two assists / Aston Villa 3 - Burnley 2 / 8 Sky Rating
Most Premier League fixtures will likely result in an IF so Watkins could be on for a cheap SIF looking at it. The Englishman claimed MOTM after providing two assists during Aston Villa’s 3-2 win over Burnley.
Valentin Castellanos - ST - 79 > 86 OVR
One goal, one assist / Lazio 3 - Frosinone 1 / 7.5 Gazzetta Rating
We were very limited for striker options this week and with only a couple of top-five leagues in action, it was always going to be a case of cheap inclusions. Castellanos is one to benefit from that after his goal and assist for Lazio makes him one of the stronger options.
Luca Ranieri - CB - 72 > 83 OVR
Goal and clean sheet / Fiorentina 1 - Torino 0 / 7 Gazzetta Rating
With Ranieri’s TOTGS card now extinct due to recent evolution releases this potential IF gives you a different route to that insane-looking card. The Italian scored the only goal of the game, in the 83rd minute to secure all three points for Fiorentina.
Ryan Fraser - RW - 73 > 83 OVR
Two goals / Southampton 5 - Swansea 0 / 9 Sofascore Rating
EA continue to show love to the Championship with players I don’t expect to make it being forced in. Fraser is one of the better options this week so with that logic he should be nailed on. Southampton continue their superb form as they look to gain automatic promotion back to the Premier League.
Michael Olise - RW - 78 > 83 OVR
Two goals / Palace 3 - Brentford 1 / 8 Sky Rating
With two sets of Premier League fixtures alongside no Bundesliga, it was always going to be a Prem-heavy TOTW. Several players performed well with Olise being one of them. Palace battled their way to a 3-1 win with the Frenchman scoring twice from the wing.
Cole Palmer - CAM - 66 > 83 OVR
Two goals, one assist / Luton 2 - Chelsea 3 / 8 Sky Rating
Although the eventual outcome was not convincing it was a comfortable win for Chelsea, who fell apart at the end of the match. Cole Palmer, who has turned out to be a steal, was once again the main man. Involved in all three Chelsea goals as he continues his strong form.
Giovani Lo Celso - CM - 81 > 85 OVR
Two assists / Tottenham 3 - Bournemouth 1 / 8 Sky Rating
Tottenham bounced back from their loss to Brighton with a routine win over Bournemouth to make it four wins from their last five. Their run of form comes despite numerous key injuries and with a reasonable run of fixtures coming up Spurs could continue to impress. Lo Celso gets into the prediction after his two assists saw him claim MOTM.
Joao Pedro - ST - 73 > 83 OVR
Two goals, one assist / Brighton 4 - Tottenham 2 / 9 Sky Rating
With Joao Pedro’s RTTK card costing you a mere 400k many will be happy to see a cheaper alternative potentially on its way. The Brazilian was crucial during Brighton’s impressive victory over Tottenham. Directly involved in three of the four goals and claiming a 9/10 for doing so.
Chris Wood - ST - 75 > 83 OVR
Hat trick / Newcastle 1 - Nottingham Forest 3 / 10 Sky Rating
Tuesday fixtures will count for this week's side despite occurring before the last TOTW release. This is always the case with the top five divisions especially. Wood helped Nottingham Forest come out on top of their fixture with Newcastle, scoring all three of their goals as they shocked Newcastle to pick up all three points.
