The average rating of TOTW 19 could be among the highest of the year but in terms of stand-out options there's not a lot to shout about. Headlining we have a featured Torres for his hat trick, Lauren James continuing Chelsea’s dominance and a Bacha IF offering those who missed out on the SBC an upgraded version.
Giorgi Mamardashvili - GK - 80 > 84 OVR
Three saves and clean sheet / Valencia 1 - Athletic Club 0 / 7.9 Whoscored Rating
The goalkeeper position could go anywhere with no options specifically standing out. Mamardashvili was the best I could find with the Georgian making several key saves to help secure all three points for Valencia.
Selma Bacha - LB - 86 > 87 OVR
Two assists / Montpellier (W) 1 - Lyon (W) 2 / 8.5 Sofascore Rating
There will be many players regretting missing out on Bacha’s SBC card with it being among the best LB’s in the game currently. This potential IF should make you feel at least slightly better though. Bacha provided both assists for Lyon as they battled to a hard-fought 2-1 away win.
Gabriel - CB - 84 > 86 OVR
Goal and clean sheet / Arsenal 5 - Palace 0 / 9 Sky Rating
While Gabriel momentarily had two goals before the second went on to be listed as an OG the Brazilian is still one of the favourites this week after Sky went on to award him a 9/10. Arsenal ran riot with Palace showing just how fragile they are under current circumstances
Mitchell Weiser - RB - 77 > 86 OVR
Goal and clean sheet / Munich 0 - Bremen 1 / 2 Kicker Rating
Werder Bremen provided a massive blow to Munich’s title hopes with a surprise 1-0 away win over the German champions. Weiser scored the only goal of the match while also receiving MOTM. A potential featured upgrade would then make him a usable option.
Ferran Torres - LW - 82 > 87 OVR
Three goals, one assist / Betis 2 - Barcelona 4 / 9.8 Sofascore Rating
Torres has always shown the ability that he has the level required to be among the very best but consistency is always his issue. This weekend the Spaniard was at his best and Betis felt the full force of it. With three goals and an assist, he is a lock for this week's side, and a featured upgrade also looks likely.
Lauren James - CAM - 83 > 87 OVR
Hat trick / Chelsea (W) 3 - Man United (W) 1 / 9.7 Sofascore Rating
Chelsea have dominated the WSL for the past decade, winning six of the last seven titles. They look to improve that record this season, currently sitting top after eleven matches. A Lauren James masterclass helped them secure three points this week as she scored all three of their goals.
Donyell Malen - RW - 82 > 85 OVR
Two goals / Koln 0 - Dortmund 4 / 2 Kicker Rating
Malen’s NIF is currently extinct due to popular evolution paths and the Dutchman is now likely to become even harder to obtain with Malen in line for an IF inclusion. Scoring twice during a 4-0 win Malen was named MOTM with a 2 Kicker Rating.
Angel Di Maria - RM - 83 > 86 OVR
Goal and assist / Benfica 2 - Boavista 0 / 8.5 Sofascore Rating
Benfica have only dropped nine points from 18 matches so far this season but still find themselves chasing Sporting in first. Another three points came their way on Friday as Di Maria both scored and assisted during a 2-0 home win.
Diogo Jota - ST - 85 > 86 OVR
Two goals, one assist / Bournemouth 0 - Liverpool 4 / 9 Sky Rating
With Salah away on international duty someone needed to step up with the Egyptian such a crucial aspect of the Liverpool side. Jota filled the void tremendously by being involved in three of their four goals. This could have been a decent featured upgrade but instead, it's a +1 due to the increasingly annoying FC Pro item he received.
Marie Katoto - ST - 88 > 89 OVR
Two goals / PSG (W) 8 - Bordeaux (W) 1 / 8.7 Sofascore Rating
Katoto could easily receive an IF from either match she played this week with one goal and two assists during midweek before then scoring twice in PSG’s demolition of Bordeaux. Several other options presented themselves from the match but Katoto is the high-profileoptions and when you consider both fixtures she really should make it.
Dusan Vlahovic - ST - 83 > 86 OVR
Two goals / Juventus 3 - Sassuolo 0 / 8 Gazzetta Rating
Including a Tuesday option always comes with that additional week so I often reserve it only for those with exceptional performances. Gazzetta rarely go above 7.5 in their rating system so with Vlahovic receiving an 8 for his brace I feel that he will end up making TOTW 19. The Serbian then went on to score an additional brace during Juventus’s 3-0 away win over Leece on Sunday.
Wendell - LB - 76 > 83 OVR
Two goals and clean sheet / Porto 5 - Moreirense 0 / 9 Sofascore Rating
One of the first names making my side this week was Wendell. The Brazilian managed to find the back of the net twice as Porto recorded a comfortable 5-0 win to continue their chase on the top two.
Szymon Zurkowski - CM - 74 > 83 OVR
Hat trick Empoli 3 - Monza 0 / 8.5 Gazzetta Rating
Empoli are in danger of relegation this season with the Italian outlet sitting near the bottom of the table as it stands. A hat trick from Zurkowski secured them a vital three points this weekend and now Empoli sit just two points from safety as a result.
Vincenzo Grifo - LM - 82 > 85 OVR
Goal and assist / Freiburg 3 - Hoffenheim 2 / 1.5 Kicker Rating
There were a few top performances in the Bundesliga this week but none were better than Grifo who went on to claim Kickers player of the week. With both a goal and an assist Grifo played an important role in Freiburg's three points, as is often the case.
Khadija Shaw - ST - 85 > 87 OVR
Hat trick / Man City (W) 5 - Liverpool (W) 1 / 9.6 Sofascore Rating
Manchester City already dominate the male section of the Premier League and this season are also in a battle to lift the WSL. Shaw is a vital part of their side scoring goals for fun this season. Her latest three take her to 12 in 10 thus likely securing her a SIF.
Wilfried Zaha - ST - 81 > 86 OVR
Two goals. One assist / Trabzonspor 1 - Galatasaray 5 / 9.4 Sofascore Rating
Several forwards performed well this week which should result in some higher-rated bench options. A nice positional change here for Zaha who looks set to pick up his SIF after providing three attacking returns for Galatasaray during their convincing 5-1 win.
Artem Dovbyk - ST - 70 > 87 OVR
Hat trick / Girona 5 - Sevilla 1 / 9.2 Sofascore Rating
What a season it's been for both Girona and Dovbyk so far. The Ukrainian took his total to 14 for the season as Girona continued their title push. Dovbyk must be among several top European clubs' radars now and should be highly contested for over the summer transfer window. A third IF now looks set to be on the way.
Ryan Hardie - ST - 66 > 83 OVR
Two goals, one assist / Plymouth 3 - Cardiff 1 / 9.5 Sofascore Rating
Despite being a midtable side this will be Plymouth’s third IF of the season, putting them amongst the highest in the championship. Solo performances are what earn you a spot in these sides though and Plymouth have had some stand-out ones. Hardie adds to that list after his three-goal contributions this weekend.
