FC 24 Team of The Week 20 Predictions

ByAaron
29-Jan-24 10:42

With TOTY now ongoing and the Premier League illegible due to the FA Cup it was always going to be a weaker side this week but there is very little to shout about. Headlining we have Toni Kroos, Samuel Lino and a featured upgrade for the nostalgic Wissam Ben Yedder.

Lucas Chevalier - GK - 76 > 86 OVR

Seven saves and clean sheet  /  Montpellier 0 - Lille 0  /  8 L’equipe Rating

The past couple of weeks have seen some random selections for the keeper position which has made it extremely difficult to select them. Thankfully Chevalier put in a sublime performance between the sticks this week, making a total of seven saves to ensure Lille came away with a point.

Guerreiro - LB - 82 > 85 OVR

One goal and clean sheet  /  Munich 1 - Union Berlin 0  /  2.5 Kicker Rating

During a normal week, I would have completely ignored Guerreiro due to his Kicker rating but with a severe lack of candidates I just couldn’t ignore a goal and a clean sheet from a defender among the top divisions.

Benjamin Pavard - CB - 83 > 86 OVR

Clean sheet  /  Fiorentina 0 - Inter 1  /  7 Gazzetta Rating

Since coming away from the RB role Pavard has seemingly become a lot more consistent. Playing his trade in Italy for Inter Milan now the Frenchman is a regular for them. Sommer will have some claims for a spot in this side after saving a penalty but with only a 6.5 from Gazzetta, I can see it going to the higher-rated Pavard instead.

Samuel Lino - LW - 77 > 86 OVR

Goal and clean sheet  /  Atletico Madrid 2 - Valencia 0  /  7.8 Whoscored Rating

While it could be argued that Lino played an LM role there is an argument for the LWB one too. With a lack of defensive options, I will take the stretch at the latter. Lino scored one of Atletico’s two goals as they recorded a comfortable 2-0 home win.

Kerem Akturkoglu - LM - 77 > 85 OVR

Two goals  /  Galatasaray 3 - Istanbulspor 1  /  7.8 Whoscored Rating

Akturkoglu was in the elusive TOTW 1 side but now looks to build upon that with his second IF of the year. The Turkish midfielder scored twice to help Galatasaray towards a 3-1 home win over Istanbulspor.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek - CM - 77 > 83 OVR

Two goals  /  AC Milan 2 - Bologna 2  /  7.5 Gazzetta Rating

AC Milan won’t be happy with the point considering they were playing at home but Loftus-Cheek should still be in line for an IF. The Englishman scored both Milan goals, claiming MOTM with a 7.5 from Gazzetta for doing so.

Toni Kroos - CM - 86 > 88 OVR

One assist  /  Las Palmas 1 - Real Madrid 2  /  8.3 Whoscored Rating

A couple more IF’s and Kroos could become a very usable card. His pace has always been the deciding factor within the FIFA community but his passing ability is among the very best. A second IF looks to be on the way after the German received MOTM for his assist during the hard-fought 2-1 win.

Claudia Pina - LW - 83 > 86 OVR

Two assists  /  Betis (W) 0 - Barcelona (W) 6  /  8.9 Sofascore Rating

Hansen would have made this week's sie had it not been for the current TOTY inclusion. After a 6-0 win I still expect Barcelona to receive an IF though. It could be various players but I settled for Pina in the end after she provided two assists.

Niclas Fullkrug - ST - 80 > 84 OVR

Hat trick  /  Dortmund 3 - Bochum 1  /  1 Kicker Rating

After scoring the joint-highest number of goals in the Bundesliga last season with Werder Bremen, Fullkrug earned a move to one of the bigger sides in the division with Dortmund. His hat trick during his latest fixture took the German up to nine goals for the season as he looks to better the tally of 16 from last.

Wissam Ben Yedder - ST - 83 > 87 OVR

Goal and assist  /  Marseille 2 - Monaco 2  /  8 L’equipe Rating

Ben Yedder has been snubbed on a couple of occasions but during a week with extremely limited options his goal and assist could be enough to carry him towards his first IF. L’equipe significantly helped his cause after awarded the striker an 8/10 for his performance.

Martin Terrier - ST - 81 > 87 OVR

Two goals  /  Lyon 2 - Rennes 3  /  8 L’equipe Rating

Terrier was deployed in the more advanced ST role instead of his usual winger position this week with the tactical decision paying off well. The Frenchman scored twice as Rennes recorded a 3-2 away win over Lyon.

Kevin Muller - GK - 73 > 83 OVR

Six saves  /  Hoffenheim 1 - Heidenheim 1  /  1.5 Kicker Rating

We have seen two keepers selection repeatedly recently so I am happy to follow the trend and predict two this week. The second I have opted for is Muller. The German stopper was selected as Kickers keeper of the week as he made numerous saves to keep the scores level picking up a 1.5 Kicker rating.

Levent Mercan - LB - 67 > 83 OVR

Goal, assist and clean sheet  /  Karagumruk 4 - Rizespor 0  /  9.1 Whoscored Rating

The only easy selection for the defenders this week was a Turkish League silver. With two goal contributions alongside his clean sheet, Mercan is one to hedge your bets on making TOTW 20.

Patrick Pflucke - RW - 77 > 83 OVR

Two goals, one assist  /  Mechelen 3 - Molenbeek 1  /  9.9 Sofascore Rating

A dramatic end to the match saw Mechelen snatch all three points via goals in both the 96th and 98th minutes of the match. Pflucke was involved in all three of their goals seemingly securing his place in TOTW 20 in the process.

De Ketelaere - CAM - 76 > 83 OVR

Two assists  /  Atalanta 2 - Udinese 0  /  7 Gazzetta Rating

De Ketelaere never lived up to the hype which surrounded him in his early years. That being said there are some signs of improvement recently and although he will probably never reach the height once anticipated he will still likely have a career in the top division. His two assists this weekend helped Atalanta to a 2-0 home win.

Krzysztof Piatek - ST - 73 > 83 OVR

Hat trick  /  Konyaspor 2 Basaksehir 3  /  9.5 Sofascore Rating

Momentarily it looked like Piatek was the real deal with his 2018/19 season with AC Milan being phenomenal. Since then the Polish striker has never replicated his form with several mediocre spells at various clubs. Now playing his trade in Turkey he found the back of the net three times to help Basaksehir to a 3-2 away win.

Deniz Undav - ST - 75 > 83 OVR

Hat trick  /  Stuttgart 5 - Leipzig 2  /  1 Kicker Rating

Undav struggled during his time with Brighton in the Premier League with limited opportunities arising. Playing in the Bundesliga now Undav has instantly shown his form which attracted the interest initially from Brighton. A hat trick against Leipzig will likely result in an IF to go alongside the POTM card he picked up.

Alexander Sorloth - ST - 79 > 83 OVR

One goal, two assists  /  Barcelona 3 - Villarreal 5  /  9.5 Whoscored Rating

It was a real game for the neutrals here with an eight-goal thriller changing dramatically during the second half. Villarreal eventually came out on top scoring in the 84th, 98th and 101st minutes to come from 3-2 down to secure the shock victory. There is no obvious candidate for TOTW but Villarreal will feature and I expect that to be Sorloth.
