We’re 5 years on from the first Future Stars promo in FIFA 19, but how did their careers pan out? Do they all reach their potential rating given to them, some as high as 92!
Many of these guys have gone on to establish themselves at the very top of the game and are regarded as the best in their position, whereas others maybe not so much…
Vinicius Jr - 77 > 89
As crazy as it sounds, Vini Jr may still be years away from his prime despite being at such a high level already.
He started out FIFA 19 with a base 77 and has since earned a +12 to land him at 89 rated for FC 24 and is the second most expensive gold item in the game, only behind Kylian Mbappe.
Since FIFA 19 Future Stars he’s gone on to win 2 La Liga titles and score the winning goal in the 2022 Champions League final against Liverpool
Trent Alexander-Arnold - 78 > 86
Another Future Stars success story is Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Liverpool right back is now regarded as the best in the world and has rightfully put himself in the conversation for greatest of all time (Premier League).
A + 8 for Trent takes him to an 86 rated in FC 24 and has since won countless trophies including a Champions League and Premier League.
Jadon Sancho - 72 > 82
A +10 for anyone would look good but for Jadon Sancho it could be even better. The former Manchester City man lit the Bundesliga alight during his time in Dortmund where he caught the eye of plenty of big clubs and Manchester United.
It’s hard to say what went wrong for him at Old Trafford but during his time there he looked nothing like the player he was in Germany.
3 years later he’s made a loan move back to Borussia Dortmund where he looks to regain the form he once had.
Kai Havertz - 79 > 82
79 to 82 isn’t too much of an upgrade for Kai and it’s far from his 90 Future Stars card 5 years ago.
He was collecting special cards like they were Pokemon during his time at Bayer Leverkusen but unfortunately this slowed down once he made his move to London.
His career at Chelsea wasn’t amazing, although he did score the winning goal in the 2021 Champions League final. Now at Arsenal, Havertz looks to take them to the Premier League title.
Matthijs de Ligt - 80 > 86
2019 was a huge year, not only for de Ligt but for the entirety of that Ajax super team. They were seconds away from a Champions League final and impressed everyone watching.
Plenty were rewarded with moves to bigger clubs including de Ligt, he made the switch to Juventus where he’d stay until 2022.
Now at Bayern Munich, he has a tough task ahead of him this season as they look to halt Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen and win the Bundesliga.
Patrick Cutrone - 77 > 72
He loves the pizza, he loves the pasta, the lad’s … magic. Turns out this chant from the Wolves fans was the best part of the last 5 years for Cutrone.
He’s spent time at 5 clubs since 2019 and struggled to hit the ground running anywhere.
He’s currency at Como in Serie B where he was briefly managed by Cesc Fabregas.
