Future Stars Lauren Hemp Player Review - Cop or Flop

It’s Friday which means another big drop of content in EAFC! We of course have Team 2 of the Future Stars promo which has included some pretty good cards. Notably Bacha has a brand new card. Hojlund, Palmer and Lewis all have cards that look decent.

In the SBC section however we have a fantastic SBC in Lauren Hemp. This card off of face value looks incredible. The only concern I have is that she has a Thunderstruck item in-game so the question is, will this card be much better?

The main upgrades for this card comes in the secondary playstyle+ of which is the Trickster playstyle. But has also been given a boost to the weak foot from 3* to 4*. Otherwise very minor upgrades have been given to this card based on the Thunderstruck item that only has a 1+ difference in rating.

Hemp jumps straight into the attacking team of fellow Manchester City striker, Eerling Haaland as well as an Evo’d Foord card on the otherside of the wing. My plan here was to absolutely abuse that whipped pass playstyle to send the ball straight to Haaland that has the Aerial playstyle. For me, this spells danger for the opposition. 

For Chemstyle here, you should either go for the Marksman, which will give a good boost to the strength as well as maxing out the dribbling and an extra boost to the passing. Or you can go for the Hawk which will max out the pace as well as boosting shooting and physical. I opted for the Hawk as I wanted to utilise Hemp as a wing runner and absolutely abuse that pace.

We haven’t seem TOTW items required in the SBC segments for a minute and I feel like it’s likely come at the wrong time. 5 segments in total here putting the price of this SBC at roughly 500k coins. Which is a steep increase from the Thunderstruck Item that is coming in at 150k. So for me this card would have to perform marginally better to be worth the 350k difference.

How did she perform in-game?

+ Pace on this card is what you would expect on someone with 95 pace, she was incredibly quick on the wing.

+ Dribbling on this card was really good however it is worth noting the low composure as there were a few scenarios that it let her down

+ Positioning was near perfect on this card, always in the right place at the right time to create some great chances

+ Passing is the best feat of this card, especially the whipped pass. The vision was impressive on this card, she could find a needle in a haystack.

- Strength is the obvious downfall here, it doesn’t help being 5ft 5 but having 66 strength hurts this card and it shows in game. She was knocked off the ball with ease.

Hemp - Cop or Flop?

This card felt nice in-game but unfortunately that’s kind of where it ends. The passing was perfect but there are so many cards similar that I just can’t say that this card is worth departing with 500k worth of fodder for. If this card was also made a 5*/5* item then maybe you could justify the cost.

Important to note that through the Future Stars promo we have now had numerous amounts of evolutions that are completely free to complete and produce arguably better items. Take Athenea as an example, she may not have the same playstyles but otherwise is a better card that does have 5*/5*. For me, this one just isn’t worth completing.
