What Happened To The FIFA 19 Future Stars?

We’re 5 years on from the first Future Stars promo in FIFA 19, but how did their careers pan out? Do they all reach their potential rating given to them?

Many of these guys have gone on to establish themselves at the very top of the game and are sitting pretty at the top of their respective leagues, whereas others maybe not so much…

Alex Grimaldo - 81 > 84

His upgrade may not be as huge as others featured but Grimaldo is certainly at the peak of his game right now.

He made the move to Bayer Leverkusen over the summer and has flourished under the management of Xabi Alonso where they look to win the Bundesliga title this season.

Always a reliable option in Ultimate Team and is only getting better each year.

Achraf Hakimi - 75 > 84

A +9 has come for Hakimi over the past 5 years but that’s not all, he’s played at a number of top European clubs and was vital in Morocco reaching the World Cup semi final!

He’s no stranger to Team of The Year either, with the right back featuring twice during his time in Paris, although there hasn’t been a special card for him this year.

Matteo Guendouzi - 67 > 79

Guendouzi is always a reliable option in Ultimate Team and loves a promo card but he hasn’t quite hit his potential just yet.

He was forced out of Arsenal over an attitude problem and has spent time at 3 separate clubs since then.

His one special card this year has already been given an upgrade, with Lazio overcoming Bayern Munich in the UCL first leg.

Ferland Mendy - 77 > 82

79 to 82 isn’t too much of an upgrade for Mendy and is far from his 87 Future Stars card, but honestly, we don’t want a higher rated card.

He’s a nightmare to play against in general, so if he was any better we’d be done for. He’s got two special cards under his belt in FC 24, both coming in at a hefty price.

He’s won everything there is to win with Real Madrid and looks to add another La Liga title to his collection this season.

Eder Militao - 75 > 86

Another Real Madrid success story is Eder Militao, the defender has upped his rating by 11 since FIFA 19 and is getting better and better each year.

Just like Mendy, he’s an Ultimate Team favourite and is no stranger to a promo card, he even had 2 Flashback items in FIFA 20!

Luka Jovic - 75 > 77

It’s clear to see where Real Madrid’s scouts were looking in the summer of 2019 - The FIFA 19 Future Stars Team! Militao, Mendy and Jovic were all signed in the same window but unfortunately Jovic just couldn’t get going in the Spanish capital.

That 94 card is an all timer and will live fond in the memory of any FIFA 19 player but that’s as good as it gets for Luka.

He struggled in Madrid but did look to find some form in a loan return to Frankfurt. He’s currently at AC Milan where he’s scored 7 in 21.
