La Liga Team of The Season Predictions!

Next up for the TOTS prediction we head over to Spain. It looks all but certain that Real Madrid will lift the title so it comes as no surprise that five of the eighteen play for Madrid. Overall it’s an extremely strong side though with strong options all over the pitch. While four inclusions from the surprise package Girona give a glimpse of the future in La Liga.

Alex Remiro - GK - 84 > 93 OVR

With many names that you would usually associate with the best keeper in La Liga missing large parts of the season with injury, it's extremely likely that we will see unique additions this year. Remiro stands out for me with the Sociedad keeper conceding just 31 times from 30 matches. The Spaniard has been a key part of several Sociedad victories and fully deserves a position on this side.

Joao Cancelo - LB - 86 > 94 OVR

Cancelo continues to show why he is among the best fullbacks in world football. Proving his worth in Serie A, the Premier League and La Liga the Portuguese defender will go down as one of the greats. It's been another successful campaign for him with five attacking returns while consistently contributing towards defensive duties. Despite interest from several clubs, it is reported that Cancelo is happy at Barcelona and will continue to play his trade for them next season.

Antonio Rudiger - CB - 85 > 94 OVR

When you consider the injuries and constant changes in the Madrid defence it is quite something that they obtain the best defence in the division with only 20 goals conceded so far. One player who has consistently been a part of that defence is Rudiger. The German has helped control the backline and is a huge part of why it has been so successful. An easy inclusion into the prediction.

Sergio Ramos - CB - 83 > 92 OVR

While you could argue that this is a bold statement the Sevilla defence and side in general has improved since the reunion with Sergio Ramos. While the level is not quite what it once was his performances this season have really stood out for Sevilla. With the reputation the Spaniard possesses it could help him get over the line in the TOTS process.

Carvajal - RB - 82 > 93 OVR

When a defensive option has attacking and defensive returns to boast about they become an easy choice for this sort of side. That is exactly the case for Carvajal. The Spaniard has seemingly rejuvenated his performances for Madrid this season, playing a role in the best defence in the division while also providing four goals and two assists. This will be the first TOTS inclusion since FIFA 20 for Carvajal.

Federico Valverde - CM - 88 > 94 OVR

Both Valverde and Kroos are very similar in terms of chances for this side and it could go to either player. I don't think that both end up making it however and thus I had a difficult choice to make. Valverde being a much better card swayed the choice for me in the end. The Uruguayan has scored once and provided seven assists for Madrid so far.

Ilkay Gundogan - CM - 86 > 94 OVR

Gundogan has always gone somewhat under the radar as a footballer. Everyone knew he was capable but especially in the City side where he was surrounded by other top talents he never really stood out. The German has played some fantastic football for Barcelona this season and has been an ever-present face in the middle of the park. With five goals and six assists I don’t think there can be too many questions asked of his inclusion into this team.

Jude Bellingham - CAM - 86 > 97 OVR

While the hype surrounding Bellingham has eased in comparison to the first half of the season the Englishman's talent is unquestionable with the midfielder set to be among the very best for the next decade. With sixteen goals to his name Jude currently leads the race for the Golden Boot, despite playing in midfield. He has scored several key goals throughout the season and will inevitably be named POTY in Spain.

Inaki Williams - RM - 81 > 92 OVR

Both Williams brothers have played a significant role in Athletic Club's season so far and while it would be possible for both to be included realistically I think it will only be Inaki. With nine goals and three assists from RM Williams has been involved in almost a quarter of all Athletic’s goals with his pace causing consistent issues for various clubs.

Antoine Griezmann - ST - 88 > 96 OVR

While Atletico Madrid have not competed in the same way they have in many recent seasons they still look set to claim one of the four Champions League spots available. Griezmann has been a consistent face within the TOTS for the past decade with eight appearances. The Frenchman now looks to make that nine from eleven and with eleven goals and six assists it's a strong possibility it becomes reality.

Vinicius Junior - ST - 89 > 97 OVR

With most of the La Liga strikers in contention for this side being ones you wouldn't usually associate with TOTS it leaves the door wide open for Vinicius to claim his spot. With twelve goals and four assists from the Brazilian's twenty appearances, his contribution has been crucial during Real Madrid’s likely title-winning campaign.

Substitutes

Yan Couto - RB - 72 > 93 OVR

While Girona can’t boast the same sort of defensive numbers as multiple other sides in the division it’s still a respectable 36 conceded from 30 matches. Couto is another youngster who has broken through this season at Girona. His performances have seen him attract interest from the likes of Real Madrid alongside also receiving a Brazil call-up. With one goal and seven assists to his name in an overachieving Girona side, it comes as no surprise that he is attracting interest though.

Aleix Garcia - CDM - 80 > 91 OVR

While there are several changes on this side from the predicted TOTSSF side posted in January the four Girona selections remain the same. That being said you could easily make a case for Yangel Herrera instead of Garcia. I am set on the Spaniard however who sits in front of the backline while also providing attacking returns. Despite the lack of promotional items for Garcia, it has been a strong campaign for him.

Savio - LM - 77 > 92 OVR

At just nineteen years of age, Savio has shown exactly what he is capable of, helping guide Girona throughout their surprise season in La Liga. His performances so far have attracted interest from all over Europe but it looks as though the Brazilian will be with Manchester City for the 2024/25 campaign. With eight goals and seven assists from the wing Savio is a no-brainer for this side and has a very bright future in the game.

Isco - CAM - 80 > 92 OVR

Isco was once among the brightest talents in Spanish football but his demise happened at a rapid pace. Now 31 years of age he is approaching the final chapters of his playing career but his performances for Betis throughout the 2023/24 campaign have got people talking once again. With six goals and three assists so far this season you would be forgiven for overlooking him but his creativity and skill have caused constant threat throughout.

Ante Budimir - ST - 77 > 90 OVR

By far the most rogue shout for a TOTS inclusion this season goes the way of Budimir. Osasuna have had a very respectable season thus far, currently sitting in ninth position. This is Budimir’s fourth season at Osasuna and he is yet to receive a performance-based card. Despite that, the Croatian is now in line for a TOTS inclusion. That is after he has managed sixteen goals so far this season, the joint highest so far.

Borja Mayoral - ST - 74 > 90 OVR

The Golden Boot race in Spain is among the tightest out there with three players all on sixteen leading the way as it stands. Mayoral is one of those with the Spaniard scoring almost half of Getafe’s league total this season. Without him, they would have likely struggled with no other clear goal threat in the side. If he fails to keep up with the pace for the final eight games he could easily miss out but as it stands you can’t ignore Mayoral.

Artem Dovbyk - ST - 70 > 93 OVR

While Girona’s title hopes quickly relinquished during the second half of the season it has still been a phenomenal campaign for them as they look to claim a Champions League position. Dovbyk has been their main source of goals so it comes as no surprise that various European sides are chasing his signature. Dovbyk is also on 16 goals so far and is my favourite to win the Golden Boot come the conclusion of La Liga.
