Matchday 1 of Euro 2024 is over and with it not only comes some huge upsets, but also some huge upgrades! Double upgrades have already been unlocked for one player after Scotland were put through their paces in the opener…

We’ve got all sorts of upgrades to cover; Path to Glory, Greats of the Game, Make Your Mark and Showdowns. There have been 39 different upgrades across the opening 5 match days and we’re hoping for plenty more as we gear up for the knockout stages.

Group A

Germany - Ballack (+1 and +1 PS+), Muller (+2), Füllkrug and Undav (+1), Groß and Mittelstadt (+Chemistry)

Scotland - McTominay (+Chemistry)

Switzerland - Ndoye (+2)

Yes, even after Scotland were battered by Germany in the opener, they still managed to come out of MD1 with an upgrade. After making his tournament debut, McSauce was given +Chemistry alongside the other two Make Your Mark cards in group A. Germany’s 5 goals meant upgrades for Ballack with a +1 and an extra PS+. Füllkrug, Undav and Ndoye also receive +1’s on their PTG cards after the first game.

Group B

Spain - Capdevilla, Pedri and Olmo (+1), Zubimendi (+2), Le Normand and Williams (+Chemistry)

Italy - Di Natale, Chiesa and Vicario (+1), Dimarco (+Chemistry)

Albania may have recorded the fastest ever goal at the European Championships but that means absolutely nothing if you don’t win the game (in terms of upgrades). Italy came back and the victory for them brought in a +1 for three of their cards. Spain’s result was more routine, a 3-0 win over an ageing Croatia side meant 6 upgrades were on their way, including a showdown Zubimendi.

Group C

England - Saka, Walker, Gomez, Pickford (+1), Eze (+2)

Slovenia - Sesko (+Chemistry)

Denmark - Bah (+Chemistry)

Serbia - Ilic (+Chemistry)

Plus Chemistry all around for Group C (apart from England), each of the represented Make Your Mark cards from the three other nations all made their debut this week meaning their chemistry will be upgraded. The England performance was less than convincing but Gareth Southgate’s side got the job done and that’s all that matters in tournament football. +1s for all of the PTG items and a +2 for Eze’s showdown.

Group D

Netherlands - Koeman, Depay and De Jong (+1), van Dijk and Simons (+Chemistry)

France - Saliba, Clauss, and Barcola (+1), Kolo Muani (+Chemistry)

Just like England, France and The Netherlands didn’t put in a massively convincing display in their group opener but did enough to get the 3 points. Upgrades on their way for a whole host of incredible cards, VVD and Saliba just made the best CB pairing on the game even harder to get past. Simons and Barcola are representing the Euro SBCs with both of them unlocking their respective first upgrades.

Group E

Romania - Hagi and Ratiu (+1), Dragusin (+Chemistry)

Slovakia - Skriniar (+1), Bozenik (+Chemistry)

Ukraine - Mudryk (+Chemistry)

Would you believe it, the only team without any upgrade is the group favourite. Slovenia shocked Belgium, mainly thanks to two offside Lukaku goals, and Romania really made their mark on the tournament. A 3-0 victory with two absolute worldies managed to secure an upgrade for Hagi and Raitu, Dragusin also made his first appearance at the tournament earning the +Chemistry boost.

Group F

Turkiye - Kökçü (+1), Güler (+Chemistry)

Portugal - Silva, Dias (+1), Leao (+Chemistry)

Georgia - Mikautadze (+Chemistry)

The Turkiye players were competing in their own Goal of the Tournament competition yesterday, 3 incredible goals with Müldür’s opener being particularly impressive. Arda Güler was also on the scoresheet which gets him one G/A away from an upgrade! Portugal left it late but managed to secure the three points against Czechia.
