FC 24 98 Futties Samuel Eto'o Player Review - Cop or Flop

Week number three of the Futties promo and finally we are starting to see some very OP looking 99 rated cards! Of course it wouldn’t be Futties without a Cristiano Ronaldo card that will be very absent from packs. A 99-Rated Frimpong card as well that looks to be a candidate for best card in the game. Of course as well a bunch of other very nice looking cards in Team 3.

SBC section of course and we have the third week of a Futties and Futties Icon SBC in Robertson and Samuel Eto’o. Today I of course will be getting my hands on Eto as this card looks incredible. No other special Eto’o cards this year so this item is very welcome. A +9 overall from his base item with 4 very OP playstyle+s in Rapid, Pinged Pass, Finesse and Powershot. This guy looks to be an absolute menace in attack.

So Eto’o goes right to the forefront of my attack with Rooney and McManaman ready to provide some excellent passes to the rapid finisher. Stats all round have had a very nice boost with him getting 6s & 7s across the board with a couple +10s in there too. You should never judge a book by it’s cover but this looks like it could be an incredible item.

For Chemstyle here I would say Finisher or Engine but at this point it really does not matter as those stats are maxed out as it is!

Here are the following segments to unlock the Futties Icon Eto’o SBC:

Born Legend

Rare: Exactly 11

Player Level: Exactly Bronze

# of players in squad: 11

Rising Star

Rare: Exactly 11

Player Level: Exactly Silver

# of players in squad: 11

On a Loan

Squad Rating: Min 85

# of players in squad: 11

There’s 32 segments in total.. No shot am I listing all of these segments. This is the only red flag for me on this item. Sure the actual price at this point does not matter because we can all just print fodder. But this SBC did not need this many segments. It’s going to take a hell of a lot of time to get this done. The cost here is time but for those that want to know, a price tag of just under 2.4 million coins. Price wise I would say that is kind of fair, but i’m just not impressed by all those segments.

How did he perform in-game?

+ Pace is of course what you would expect on any card with 98 paced card and rapid+. No one is catching Eto.

+ Shooting was really nice with him having both finesse and powershot+ It opened a lot of versatility when it comes to scoring so he can provide easy goals

+ Dribbling was also good on this card,  despite having regular technical playstyle, he felt like he had the playstyle plus when using the technical dribbling.

+ Positioning also something really good for him as he was always moving into the perfect space to take the ball and score.

- Strength was the downfall on this card as he was very often muscled off the ball and dispossessed when making an attack

Eto’o - Cop or Flop?

This card was absolutely incredible. He was so agile and clinical that he just does fall into that group of premium endgame strikers. But those segments. This is my biggest issue here and honestly what is going to be the difference between this card being a cop or a flop.

Listen, if you have the willpower to complete all 32 segments of this SBC in August then by all means go ahead, this ones for you. But this is a lot of grinding for a card that you likely don’t need and won’t use enough before the end of the cycle. The likes of that Futties Werner is going to be a much better option here. I think at this stage EA are just getting the Icon SBCs wrong as they are treating them the same as they would have earlier in the game cycle. At this stage, we want quick/easy cards to obtain and use for the short period of time we have left.

Absolutely great card and a really fun item to use, but just not worth the work it will take to complete.

Verdict = FLOP
