Manchester United are next up in our predictions and after their 8th place finish last season, surely they have to improve in 24/25. An FA Cup win arguably kept Erik Ten Hag in the job and he’s made some big moves in the transfer window, with de Ligt, Zirkzee, Yoro and Mazraoui all coming in. Here’s how we think the Red Devils will look in FC 25
Starting XI
Andre Onana (85>84)
Andre Onana is a very confusing goalkeeper, there are saves he pulls off which you’d never expect, but will also have moments where he just has to do better. He plays football at both ends of the spectrum, and rarely seems to have an average performance, either incredible or a stinker. We’ve dropped him down 1 for FC 25 but we wouldn’t argue if he stayed at 85.
Noussair Mazraoui (82>81)
Mazraoui comes in as United’s 4th summer signing and unfortunately we have to downgrade him. After 11 straight Bundesliga titles, Bayern Munich finished third last season and we’ll be expecting multiple downgrades for the players involved. The Morrocan has looked impressive in his first 2 matches for United and we expect him to make a solid impact this season.
Matthijs de Ligt (86>86)
Another member of the Bayern Munich squad was Matthijs de Ligt who has been brought in to strengthen the very shaky defence. This will be the first time in his career that he’ll be starting a season under someone who has already managed him, every season prior to this he’s been playing under a new management team. Could this be just what they need to bring the best out of de Ligt?
Lisandro Martinez (84>84)
In the season prior, Lisandro Martinez was one of United’s best defenders but spent most of the last campaign out injured and you could see the effects. The back line never looked as secure when he wasn’t there. We’ve kept him as an 84 for FC 25.
Luke Shaw (83>81)
Will we ever see Luke Shaw in a Manchester United shirt again? Who knows. He spent most of last season out injured and when he did make it back to full fitness he’d injure himself again! The quality is there for Shaw, it’s just a case of if he’s fit enough to show it. It’s harsh but we’ve had to drop him by 2 for next season.
Casemiro (89>86)
Leave the football, before the football leaves you. It was clear to see last season that Casemiro is past it at the top level, he’d show glimpses of his former self but the game is just too fast for him. It was a poor season from the Brazilian and we expect him to be given a -3 in FC 25, if not more…
Kobbie Mainoo (62>77)
We know that Kobbie has had a breakthrough season at Manchester United but we won’t get ahead of ourselves. Plenty of predictions have him firmly into the 80s but we don’t think he’s there just yet. A very well deserved +15 for Mainoo and we’re sure there'll be plenty of special cards on the way for the youngster too.
Bruno Fernandes (88>88)
Another mildly disappointing season from Manchester United, and just like previous years it’s been down to Bruno Fernandes to bail them out. 10 Goals and 8 Assists in the league for the Portuguese midfielder as the Red Devils finished 8th but did manage to secure the FA Cup. No major changes for Fernandes, but maybe expect a PS+ change with 50% of his goals coming from the penalty spot…
Amad Diallo (74>77)
It wasn’t an amazing season for Amad in terms of numbers but he did come up with some big goals and get himself in contention for a starting spot. We’ve gone for a +3 but could range anywhere from +1 to +4.
Rasmus Hojlund (75>81)
For a first season in English football, a 16 goal return was very impressive for Hojlund and we’ve opted for a huge +6 upgrade. We may be going a little high but we think he’s earned it. He did also land himself a POTM award too, looks like he could be a really nice starter option especially in the Founder Evo!
Marcus Rashford (85>84)
Honestly, we could have gone even lower for Marcus Rashford. Only 8 goals in 43 matches across all competition last season is a poor return especially off the back of 30 goals the year prior. It was an underwhelming season for him and we expect at least a -1 downgrade.
Bench
The biggest upgrades on the bench are +5s for both Garnacho and Yoro and a +6 to new signing Joshua Zirkzee after a brilliant season in Serie A with Bologna. They’re really the only highlights… Plenty of downgrades and even after Jadon Sancho impressed with Dortmund, he’s still in line for a downgrade in our books.
