TOTW 12 is a rather mediocre one with a few standout stars added in. Whether that’s VVD helping Liverpool secure a nine-point lead, Hansen helping Norway stride toward qualification, or Schade ripping apart Ruud’s Leicester City.
Franco Armani - GK - 77 > 83 OVR
Penalty save and ten saves / Estudiantes 1 - River Plate 2 / 9.8 Sofascore Rating
We saw EA include Argentina heavily in the recent season pass, and they included an IF last week. That could easily continue this week with Armani securing a ridiculous performance for River Plate, and although there is no clean sheet, he did more than enough to secure all three points.
Enrico Delprato - CB - 75 > 86 OVR
One goal / Parma 3 - Lazio 1 / 7.5 Gazzetta Rating
We have seen four-week gaps on several occasions so far, but on each occasion, it has been for a hat trick. We are testing the gap now with Delprato. The Italian defender has impressed this season, and another MOTM performance helped Parma beat Lazio 3-1.
Virgil van Dijk - CB - 89 > 90 OVR
Clean sheet / Liverpool 2 - Man City 0 / 8 Sky Rating
Liverpool now go nine points clear at the top after delivering Man City yet another loss with a 2-0 win. Salah was named MOTM yet again; however, I am not willing to go with the three-week gap. I do expect a Liverpool player, though, and that could go the way of VVD after he received an 8-match rating.
Leandro Cabrera - CB - 74 > 83 OVR
One goal, one assist / Espanyol 3 - Celta Vigo 1 / 8.5 Sofascore Rating
This seems like an easy decision. With silvers now matching the ratings of lower-tier golds, there’s no reason Cabrera shouldn’t make the side instead of the reserves. A La Liga defender with two attacking contributions is an obvious choice.
Kevin Schade - LM- 7 > 86 OVR
Hat trick / Brentford 4 - Leicester 1 / 9 Sky Rating
We have seen a silver feature in the starting eleven via a featured upgrade this year, so with Schade likely to be a very good featured IF, I would expect EA to opt for him. His place in the side is inevitable, though, after he scored three past Leicester to spoil any Nisterooy new manager boosts.
Cole Palmer - CAM - 85 > 87 OVR
One goal, one assist / Chelsea 3 - Aston Villa 0 / 9 Sky Rating
After a series of underwhelming performances, Palmer returned to top form against Villa, contributing both a goal and an assist in Chelsea's commanding 3-0 victory. The win sees Chelsea climb to joint second in the table, with Maresca continuing to impress.
Amad Diallo - RM - 75 > 86 OVR
Two assists / Man United 4 - Everton 0 / 9 Sky Rating
Manchester United delivered a dominant performance against Everton this week, showcasing remarkable improvement across the pitch. Rashford and Zirkzee each scored twice in the 4-0 victory, but it was Amad who stole the show, earning MOTM for his two assists and relentless attacking threat down the right flank.
Caroline Graham Hansen - RW - 90 > 92 OVR
Two goals / Norther Ireland 0 - Norway 4 / MOTM
We were in desperate need of a big name, and Hansen delivered. There were a few European qualification matches taking place this week, and I would expect a couple of inclusions from them. Hansen’s brace helped Norway secure progression.
Julian Alvarez - ST - 84 > 86 OVR
One goal, one assist / Valladolid 0 - Atletico Madrid 5 / 8.5 Sofascore Rating
Valladolid are seriously struggling this season, sitting bottom of the table with just nine points from fifteen matches. A 5-0 loss delivered by Atletico occurred this week, with Alvarez supplying both a goal and an assist to claim MOTM.
Omar Marmoush - ST - 79 > 85 OVR
Two goals / Heidenheim 0 - Frankfurt 4 / 1 Kicker Rating
Frankfurt continue their chase of leaders Munich and now sit only four points adrift in second place. Marmoush has been their standout player throughout, and another two goals this weekend saw him claim a perfect 1 match rating from Kicker.
Alexandre Lacazette - ST - 82 > 85 OVR
Hat trick / Lyon 4 - Nice 1 / 8 L’equipe Rating
Lacazette usually ends up with a bunch of promotional cards, making him a very viable option toward the latter stages of the game. It's been a slow start this campaign, but a hat trick against Nice looks set to earn him his first of what will likely be many performance-based upgrades.
Substitutes
Andres Reyes - CB - 68 > 83 OVR
Goal and clean sheet / Orlando 0 - NYRB 1 / 7.4 Sofascore Rating
The MLS continues to see players included due to the playoff system, and I expect that trend to continue. This time, I’m including Reyes, the central defender who, despite earning average match ratings, scored the only goal of the game from CB.
Guus Til - CM - 75 > 83 OVR
Two goals, one assist / Utrecht 2 - PSV 5 / 8 VI Rating
Saibari yet again received MOTM for PSV, but with just a three-week gap from his previous IF, I feel it’s slightly too early for him to receive a SIF. Instead, I have opted for Til, who also excelled in the middle of the park, scoring twice and assisting another.
Ludovic Blas - RW - 77 > 83 OVR
One goal, two assists / Rennes 5 - St Etienne 0 / 9 L’equipe Rating
Despite Kalimuendo scoring three times, I am convinced that it will be Blas who ends up receiving the IF. That comes after L’Équipe awarded the Frenchman a 9/10, a rating that doesn’t happen very often. Blas ran the show for Rennes as they easily dispatched St. Étienne.
Borja Sainz - LM - 71 > 84 OVR
Hat trick / Norwich 6 - Plymouth 1 / 9.9 Sofascore Rating
While Norwich struggle to make an impact in the Championship, Sainz continues to shine. His performances have already earned him a Trailblazer card from EA, and now he's poised for his third promotional card, with a SIF likely on the way. A January departure seems increasingly possible, which would be a significant setback for the Canaries.
Justin Kluivert - CAM - 77 > 83 OVR
Hat trick / Wolves 2 - Bournemouth 4 / 9 Sky Rating
Despite all three of Kluivert's goals coming from the penalty spot, he earned the MOTM award, and a Premier League hat trick all but guarantees his IF. Wolves had been finding form leading up to this match, but conceding three penalties in a single game is simply unforgivable.
Mohamed Amoura - ST - 75 > 83 OVR
Two goals / Leipzig 1 - Wolfsburg 5 / 1.5 Kicker Rating
Wolfsburg shocked Leipzig this weekend, hammering them 5-1 away from home. I expect an IF to occur from the match due to the result, and Amoura seems to be the best bet, having scored twice from ST.
Lucas Perez - ST - 75 > 83 OVR
Hat trick / Cadiz 2 - Deportivo 4 / 10 Sofascore Rating
The days when Deportivo were a consistent force in European competitions are long gone, and now they find themselves battling for survival in Spain’s second division. However, their 4-2 win away to Cádiz this weekend could provide the momentum they need, moving them three points clear of the relegation zone. Perez scored three of those four.
Reserves
Steve Rouiller - CB - 71 > 83 OVR
Two goals and clean sheet / Servette 3 - Lugano 0 / 9.4 Sofascore Rating
Luke McCowan - CM - 69 > 83 OVR
One goal, three assists / Celtic 5 - Ross County 0 / 10 Sofascore Rating
Jean-Luc Dompe - LW - 72 > 83 OVR
Two goals, one assist / Karlsruher 1 - HSV 3 / 1 Kicker Rating
Lucas Holer - CAM - 73 > 83 OVR
Two goals, one assist / Freiburg 3 - Gladbach 1 / 1 Kicker Rating
Leo Baptistao - ST - 74 > 83 OVR
Two goals, two assists / Almeria 4 - Cordoba 0 / 9.6 Sofascore Rating
