International weeks often bring a lot of big-name players, and this is no exception, with almost every position filled by a household name. Whether that's Oblak's heroics between the sticks, Kimmich’s dominant displays from RB, Olise inspiring a French comeback, or Schick saving Czechia from embarrassment, TOTW 28 offers plenty of options.
Jan Oblak - GK - 88 > 89 OVR
Six saves and clean sheet / Slovenia 1 - Slovakia 0 / 9 Sofascore Rating
It was a tight encounter in the relegation play-off match between Slovenia and Slovakia, with extra time needed to separate the pair. Slovenia survived, winning 1-0 in extra time, but if not for the heroics of Oblak, it could have been a different story. He made several key saves to ensure he kept a clean sheet.
Joshua Kimmich - RB - 86 > 88 OVR
Two assists / Italy 1 - Germany 2 / 9.6 Sofascore Rating
One of the highest-profile matches during the international break saw Italy host Germany. It was the away side that edged it out, recording a 2-1 win. Kimmich provided the assist for both of Germany’s goals while playing at right-back. He then went on to record a goal and two assists during the return leg, it’s been quite the week for Kimmich.
Ben Davies - CB - 76 > 87 OVR
One goal, one assist / Wales 3 - Kazakhstan 1 / 8.3 Sofascore Rating
There were numerous defenders with multiple offensive contributions this week, but most came from the wing-back position. With Davies occupying the centre-back role, I feel he gets in over the other options in the pecking order. I can see a featured upgrade coming his way, with Tottenham being his club.
Myles Lewis-Skelly - LB - 58 > 88 OVR
Goal and clean sheet / England 2 - Albania 0 / 8 Sky Rating
It was an international debut to remember for Lewis-Skelly, who broke onto the scene for Arsenal this season. His performances earned him an England call-up as Tuchel selected his first squad. Lewis-Skelly went on to score the opener while also helping to keep the clean sheet intact during England’s 2-0 win over Albania.
Raphinha - LM - 84 > 89 OVR
One goal, one assist / Brazil 2 - Colombia 1
The top six in South American qualifying looks all but secured already, but the pecking order still matters, and this was a crucial match in determining that. Raphinha was involved in both of Brazil’s goals as they scraped to a 2-1 home win over Colombia.
Takefuso Kubo - CAM - 81 > 87 OVR
One goal, one assist / Japan 2 - Bahrain 0 / 8.2 Sofascore Rating
Japan remain unbeaten in their qualification process, with a 2-0 win over Bahrain taking them to six wins and a draw from their seven matches. Kubo scored once and assisted another in the latest victory, which all but confirms their top spot in the group.
Michael Olise - CAM - 82 > 87 OVR
One goal, one assist / France 2 - Croatia 0 / 9 Sofascore Rating
Having found themselves two goals down after the first leg, France needed a big performance in the second leg to progress from the quarter-finals. They matched the first-leg score before advancing via penalties. Olise scored once and assisted another from CAM, meaning he will likely receive his SIF on Wednesday.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia - LM - 85 > 88 OVR
One goal, one assist / Georgia 6 - Armenia 1 / 10 Sofascore Rating
With Mikautadze already featuring in the current TOTW, it leaves the door open for a strong FIFA option in Kvaratskhelia to sneak in. The Georgian winger scored once and assisted another during their convincing 6-1 win over Armenia as he looks to pick up his fifth promotional inclusion of the season.
Caroline Weir - CAM - 84 > 88 OVR
Two goals / Barcelona 1 - Real Madrid 3 / 8.7 Sofascore Rating
This rivalry is one of the most one-sided, despite Madrid and Barcelona usually taking both first and second positions in the division. Barcelona have won the vast majority of the fixtures, with many of them being convincing. A late Weir brace on Sunday changed the momentum, however, with Madrid recording a 3-1 win. While it’s still likely too late for a title charge, with Barcelona dropping minimal points throughout the campaign, it will give them a glimmer of hope.
Romelu Lukaku - ST - 82 > 88 OVR
Two goals / Belgium 3 - Ukraine 1 / 8.4 Sofascore Rating
With Ukraine recording a win during the first leg of this fixture, it was an uphill battle for Belgium to survive. They managed it well, however, with a 3-1 victory securing a 4-3 aggregate win. A Lukaku brace helped complete the turnaround, making him a strong candidate for a TIF.
Patrik Schick - ST - 82 > 88 OVR
Two goals / Czechia 2 - Faroe Islands 1 / 8.7 Sofascore Rating
The Faroe Islands almost shocked Czechia by scoring late in their match, but Schick had other ideas, netting his second of the game almost instantly after to secure a 2-1 win for the hosts.
Substitutes
Omar Alderete - CB - 77 > 85 OVR
Goal and clean sheet / Paraguay 1 - Chile 0 / 8.2 Sofascore Rating
Considering some of the Chilean sides we have seen in recent times, their downfall is quite something. They sit bottom of the South American World Cup qualifying group with a mere nine points from their opening thirteen matches. Paraguay were the latest side to benefit from this, with Alderete’s goal being the only one of the match in a 1-0 win.
Julian Ryerson - RB - 79 > 85 OVR
One goal, one assist and clean sheet / Moldova 0 - Norway 5 / 8.7 Sofascore Rating
It was a comfortable win for Norway, who got their World Cup qualification off to a perfect start. Travelling to Moldova, they managed to score five without reply. Ryerson scored once and assisted another during the win, and although there are a lot of defensive options this week, it’s difficult to ignore any of them.
Denis Bouanga - LW - 80 > 85 OVR
Two goals / Gabon 3 - Seychelles 0 / MOTM
Gabon were the latest side to beat bottom-of-the-group Seychelles with a comfortable 3-0 home win. Bouanga scored two of those three goals, and with the winger being an MLS candidate, I feel it significantly boosts his chances of inclusion.
Francisco Trincao - CM - 78 > 87 OVR
Two goals / Portugal 5 - Denmark 2 / 8.3 Sofascore Rating
Portugal needed extra time to overcome Denmark but ultimately cruised through during that period. Trincão’s impact off the bench was pivotal, as he scored twice to secure Portugal’s progression in the Nations League.
Mikel Oyarzabal - ST - 82 > 88 OVR
Two goals / Spain 3 - Netherlands 3 / 8.4 Sofascore Rating
With these two-legged quarter-final Nations League fixtures, I expect the progressing side to feature in each case. Oyarzabal seems to be the most likely option from this thrilling encounter. Spain advanced via penalties after two draws with the Netherlands, with Oyarzabal scoring twice in the second match, a 3-3 draw.
Karem Akturkoglu - ST - 77 > 85 OVR
One goal, one assist / Turkiye 3 - Hungary 1 / 8.4 Sofascore Rating
Turkiye dispatched Hungary impressively with an aggregate score of 6-1. The first fixture is where the IF could come from, with Akturkoglu scoring once and assisting another during a 3-1 win. Hungary are not a bad side and have produced decent results in recent times, so this is a statement win from Turkiye.
Vedat Muriqi - ST - 80 > 87 OVR
Hat trick / Iceland 1 - Kosovo 3 / 9.1 Sofascore Rating
Kosovo survived their relegation play-off fixture against Iceland, winning both legs to secure a 5-2 aggregate score. Muriqi earns the inclusion after scoring all three of Kosovo’s goals during their 3-1 away win on Sunday.
Reserves
Sara Holmgaard - LB - 67 > 85 OVR
One goal, two assists and clean sheet / Everton 3 - Crystal Palace 0 / 9.8 Sofascore Rating
Jackson Irvine - CM - 79 > 85 OVR
Two goals / Australia 5 - Indonesia 1 / 8.5 Sofascore Rating
Martin Ojeda - CAM - 72 > 85 OVR
One goal, two assists / Orlando 4 - DC United 1 / 8.9 Sofascore Rating
Pep Biel Mas Jaume - CAM - 74 > 85 OVR
One goal, two assists / Charlotte 4 - San Jose 1 / 9.6 Sofascore Rating
Raul Jimenez - ST - 74 > 85 OVR
Two goals / Canada 0 - Mexico 2 / 8.7 Sofascore Rating
